  1. I'm sitting in the holiday inn in Lincoln Nebraska - snowing big time. I'm having coffee watching cars go up a small incline beside the hotel. Tirespin city except for the silver outback that nary spun a wheel. It warmed my heart as it went past a ford dually while the driver was wrestling with his hub locks with frozen hands. People sitting across from me were like "oh my god how did it do that". rd
  2. Thanks. I just did the ones in my Grand Cherokee at 90k, it has two actually, they were DIRTY!!! Fresh and clean now! Just be happy the Roo has a drain plug - the Jeep does not. rd
  3. Put it in nuetral - step on the gas - if it stumbles and shudders let me know. rd
  4. I had same problem with 97 obw. Changed plug wires. Problem fixed. Worth a shot? rd
  5. Thanks, great site. I lost about a 1/4 inch height. Good to know. I recently acquired a Jeep so I am less concerned about the offroad stuff. But only a little.
  6. How much height did I lose going from stock to 225/60/15 on my 97 OBW? Anyone know how to figure this?
  7. How much lift did you end up with? I'll keep this in mind for next time. I like.
  8. I switched to 225/60/15. I like the grip. Prob not good for snow though - too wide.
  9. I just did mine last week. It was my first time. It was amazingly smooth via the hayne's manual. Here is my list of tools used: Jack Jack stand Small chisel (or screw driver) to unstake axle nut 32mm socket for axle nut 24" breaker bar for axle nut 14mm (i think) socket for ball joint pinch bolt Small prybar (big screwdriver) to pop the ball joint out of position Pin punch from sears (really important to get right size, I'm not at home right now or i'd look) Small hammer to drive pin Set of spouse hands covered in gloves to pull on strut gently while I guide axle out of tranny Enjoy, rd
  10. Watch for cues as to wind direction while you drive. If you can find a healthy tailwind then go faster w/o fuel penalty. If there is a stiff headwind, slow down. rd
  11. I got them at Aotozone, $75 after the core return. They came with new axle nuts and spring pins. My axle nuts came off right away with an 18" cheater bar. I popped the pinch bolt off the ball joint and the axle practically fell out of the car. What a relief not to have to wrestle with anything for a change. Next I'll do the one in my jeep, this was a good practice mission.
  12. They are Falken ZE 392s I think, 225 - 60 - 15. National Tire & Battery $74 a piece. $377 out the door with check of alignment (I did not need an adjustment). They fitted them and checked for rub while car was still there. Lots of clearance. I could have gone 235 wide but that size was unavailable in the store. Extremely happy. Silent on the freeway at 80mph!
  13. Premium is not "required". It is useful only in wringing out every last bit of performance. Buy the one you want. Don't worry about the fuel.
  14. This is SH 242 & I45 (slightly east of the Woodlands) under a bridge across the San Jacinto River I think. It's popular with the jeepers. rd
  15. This was a test of my new 225/60/15s. Not an A/T for sure but did ok. The wider footprint floated over the sand pretty well. I was alone so I didn't get too ballsy in the deep stuff. 97 obw 4eat
  16. I wish I was near you. If I had a place to store it I would start ebaying parts in my spare time. Also I'd keep the headlamp assemblies as mine are starting to craze. Junkers in Texas just don't get too many of these. rd
