  1. i also vote for do it after the lift. You are gonna want the exhaust to bend up right after the y pipe, and factory form it goes level back from it. After your lift, you will want a bend up after the y pipe, and tuck up along the driveshaft again for clearance.
  2. this could also be same causes for the "ghostwalk" : there is something that is not right in the suspension geometry, design flaw in the 05+ outbacks. The engineers messed up on the 05+ outbacks. No progression on that for sure. File a complaint on the NHTSA and maybe someday they will give us owners a recall and fix them link to file complaint is http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/complaints/
  3. if you get a garage and cherry picker, i can come help with the clutch replacement. It will probably need the flywheel resurfaced, so plan on having that done, Mick has a guy he gets those resurfaced from, so the turnaround on that will be the holdup on getting it back together. I did the clutch job on my 92SS like 2 years ago, when i had it. I am pretty used to EJ engine pulling. Have pulled at least 6 or 7 out of the cars. I can have a EJ out in about an hour from the start. There are a few tricky nuts, bolts, etc. You also need a hog pan to drain the coolant in.
  4. I have talked with Dennis. He said he could ride along and take some video and stuff..so we can post some Iowa vids for the rest.
  5. My BRAT has fresh transmission/gear oil, and a brand new radiator installed. While filling with new gear oil, I found my pitch rod stopper metal bracket is broke, probably why it pops out of reverse when i try to reverse with some speed. - it is still caked with mud and gravel all over the bottom from the incident at Ledges, i could hardly locate the drain plug for the gear oil/transmission. At least i didnt see any metal chunks or even any metal flakes in the old oil, and the magnet on the plug looked GOOD.
  6. you guys keep knocking the best cars we got in the midwest salt belt. My Employments work truck is a 2006? dodge with only 6,000 miles on it and it has rusted quarter panels. It happens with low mileage cars here, if they EVER were driven in the winter time. I believe the miles are accurate. Fact is, this car was driven in a winter climate, and this is what happens. It is too bad this is what happens
  7. stock form my BRAT got about 20/21mpg after the lift, and after Weber carb conversion, factoring the mileage correction to larger tire size, getting about 24 now
  8. April 10 i think.
  9. it's the blue wire, i used that for the remote on wire for an amp once or twice, running off speaker level inputs....
  10. as always, I recommend a cheap fire extenguisher to carry, especially if you alter ANY of the factory wiring, including aftermarket lights, radios, etc.
  11. adding Bail Money to list of things to bring.
  12. sliding off into the ditches/front yards of homes along the road... and taking shortcuts to a supposed play area...
  13. my former 94TW had this happen to the nice person i sold it too. Also, his main crank pulley decided it wanted to commit suicide same time too. If anybody services an engine, inspect for any wear at all, and replace with new or you are taking a big chance.
  14. probably all level B of Warren County again ..just hoepfully not past the rangers house again....he was not too happy.
  15. your turbo leg looks solid compared to my former turbo leg.
  16. i have 2 recovery straps and a hand crank comealong, will bring them all. I will try to get ahold of Dennis form the SVX site, although he hasnt been on for a while and he also maybe doesnt have a offroad car as of now. Also, i hope its not the weekend of the 19th/20th, as I plan to be in Milwaukee, or OK City if UNI goes to either since they are close....
  17. I havent had time to sign up for AAA yet.
  18. I think within 2 weeks the cars will be called color MUD. A guy from work from the Jeep Offroad club of central iowa is going to try and go if he is not on call that weekend rotation
  19. i might been thinking if the car had LSD in rear diff. or i just wrong. Front diff is open, rear diff on some closed. not all manuals same i thinks.
  20. doin a oil change, and got a new radiator on the way, and was going to change gear oil if its not this weekend. If its this weekend, then gear oil not getting changed til after.
  21. bump this cause it will be held on a Saturday with less than about 4 days notice. Not sure which saturday. Maybe this should be in the Meet and Great section. would like to invite any other people from near Iowa to come to this. It will be hilly, muddy, and fun. I am getting ready.
  22. the mud on it from after Mudcoast2010 will show it off too.
  23. too soon to tell, people are just beginning to get the 12k yr avg on them, so just seeing 60k on cars now made 2005 and later. I got 92k on my 06 Outback, its fine now, but I know the risk.
  24. silly silly, we all know donuts are for cops, not subarus. In the instruction manual, it says to only use the donut up front, and to put in the FWD fuse if you have the automatic. Means, if you get a flat on the rear, you need to rotate a good front tire back there, and then install the donut on the front axle. Its in the booklet in your car.
  25. bearing too thin? sounds likely. need a thicker collared. just a thought and my guess. I would have thought they compared the old bearing with the new bearing. maybe a mistake, maybe a bent strut thats all i can think of, were the shocks removed at all during the surgery? you put the brake rotor back on rite?
