  1. The battery that went bad in my hatchback was just 6 months old. You might just want to wait till payday and replace them both. Gives you peace of mind at least.
  2. I had a bad wal-mart battery once give me some issues like you described.
  3. Finally got around to fixing the mixture on my weber today. Cross-referenced with the redline weber page and went out and put the mixture back to where it should be. I had to turn the screw about 4 1/2 turns to get it back to where it bottoms out . Put it at 2 turns and compensated the idle speed and drove it to work. I have yet to tell a difference just yet but really hope that I have this thing worked out. The only goofy thing I have gotten is that every so often, it will rev about 500 RPMs up then back down by itself, I don't get this. http://www.redlineweber.com/html/Tech/carburetor_set_up_and_lean_best_.htm
  4. Love the maroon color of your brat. My white parts brat rusted out in the same place yours did.
  5. I too locked myself out of my BRAT last week at school. I took a clothes hanger and managed to shimmy it through enough to pop the t-top latch out and lift it up and take the t-top out and stick my arm through to get in.
  6. Been monitoring the mileage the past few weeks, managed to get 22 and that is strictly highway miles, thought it had finally corrected itself since I lowered the choke idle speed about 1000 RPMs. Still no luck, would I turning the idle mixture all the way to lean and then come back up a bit maybe help some?
  7. HatchSub did a write up for converting an EA81 to manual its in the USRM. Maybe he will add his thoughts too. With the automatic you have a hydraulic lifter motor, it should have gold stickers on the valve covers. This should be on your pro list. Welcome to the USMB.
  8. The rats always had a habit of chewing through the crank sensor wires on my 91 Legacy. Smart rodents, they love them some subaru.
  9. I feel the same way about the previous owner of my brat.
  10. It was for sale a long time ago on ebay. First time I seen it was in a magazine; had to do a double take when I seen the extra two intake pipes.
  11. Glad somebody got it. Congrats and welcome to the USMB.
  12. Nice hatch, keep that thing alive.
  13. Remember the lights don't go off when you turn it off anymore, I learned that when I test drove the 08 WRX last month.
  14. I looked at the FSM for the EA81 and it shows 2.2-2.9 ft/lbs. I am hoping I am right. Welcome to the USMB.
  15. Don't be like that, if I could help it I would.
  16. Would it take these stupid things off my tailgate?
  17. I used it to help break my intake manifold gaskets loose, good stuff.
  18. They did, its called the 2008 Forester Sports 2.5 XT
  19. My brat did the same. When we took the manifold off all the coolant dumped into the cylinders took about 15 minutes for it to quit smoking. Just waited for it to clear up and everything was fine. While your at it, make sure you didnt forget to hook any vacuum hoses back up, its easy to do.
  20. Ive drove them and loved them, good job. Enjoy the new electronic hill holder.
