  1. He said he was going to give the address to his son. I also informed him that he was sitting on a gold mine of parts, tools, and the factory service manuals were crazy. I paid $75 for the MAF and it was pulled for me and he didn't even disconnect it from the upper air box so it made for a quick change over. I told him that I will be definitely be spending some more money here. That RX is was crazy as I never did expect to see one of them in this part of the country. Lord knows what he would charge for a EJ22 Jordan, but least you know where to find one already pulled. There is also a wide range of Justys there for people that are needing parts. The man has seen it all, FF-1's through STi.
  2. He went behind his desk and handed me two 84 paint and upholstery brochures that were brand new and still in box, never been unfolded. Also, that is a tube of Subaru chapstick, not just a holder. This is him: His name is Danny Treece of City Limits Motors Inc. 2175 Seviers Blvd. Clinton TN, 37716. Awesome guy and knows his stuff from top to bottom. Stopped at the dealer on the way back through and watched the DVD the salesmen watch to be informed about the new STi.
  3. After some searching at the local junkyard for a replacement MAF for my 91 Legacy and turning up nothing, I gave my buddy at the Subaru parts department a call. I asked if he knew anything about where I would find one of these and he gave me the number to a place and told me to speak to the owner; about 60 miles away. Talked to the guy yesterday on the phone and had me to read the numbers off my mass air flow and asked which ones, when he said it should begin with something like "22680....” I instantly asked what he specialized in, only word said was "Subaru". I talked it over with the fiancé and called my buddy Dusty and headed up at a 7 A.M. CST. On the way up we met a 06 STi driven by a guy that noticed Dusty's 02 WRX and almost broke his neck looking at us. Later we learned the STi belonged to the owner's son. We located this dealership looking establishment and in the process of doing a U-turn I seen a BRAT pulling out and going down the road. I was a little skeptical at first when I just seen about 12 wrecked Subarus out front. Talking with a man waiting to be picked up we learned that the owner of the place drove the 85 BRAT that just pulled out. When he returned he led us back through the shop and I purchased the MAF and he allowed me to take pictures of the place. I learned that he started working for Subaru West in Knoxville back before Grayson bought it out and has worked on Subaru his entire career. When West shut down he got to keep pretty much anything that he could get his hands on. He allowed me to take pictures and I share them with the world now. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did, I came back home and went to work stress free. His WRX that morning: His son's Impreza coupe with methanol injection and DOHC EJ25: I about crapped my pants when I seen this: His BRAT: It gets better:
  4. Purchased a MAF from this Subaru only junkyard my parts guy told me about (see old gen for pics); fixed my goofy idle issue. Now on to that purge solenoid, anyone got one cheap?
  5. I found this pic: Don't really know what I am looking at, but I remember seeing this area when I took the IAC off and cleaned it. Going to go to the junkyard in the morning, how would I go about getting this off and replacing it, whatever it is.
  6. Whats the story on the grill? It looks like an 83 just missing the emblem.
  7. I watched this video on youtube: And I do believe that could be the cuase of some of my issues. I to believe the MAF could be bad, just the way it cuts out and bucks like its getting a bad connection especaially while driving as my issues are fairly small when sitting in park. I will go check junkyard on Monday since they have a 91 wagon and plan to snag both parts, what does your all canister solenoid look like?
  8. I connected the black plugs today and got the new codes: I don't seem to have much trouble when idling in park, my real struggle comes when I put it in gear and start driving. I have to put in Neutral at red lights and give it gas to keep it from dying. I started the car and sprayed the tar out of the IAC again with this time it running, drove it and it still did the same thing. I checked for vaccum leaks and couldnt find any either.
  9. I don't know why more American spec cars don't use them since there is such a wide range of weather here in the states. There are many times when I wish my Legacy would have came with one.
  10. Jessica's dad ended up getting one of the generic converters from the advance auto I think. Ended up using some exhaust clamps and stuff but it worked just fine.
  11. They probably wouldn't sell the cat as it's illegal to reuse them. My fiance's mother's 02 Impala had the cat go to poop on it with about the same amount of mileage, and she just drove in the city and rarely got it up to freeway speeds.
  12. Rather stupid question, do they make your guy's Legacies and ship them to New Zealand from Japan or are they sent from America?
  13. One of my fav's, that the kind of car people like myself dream about.
  14. The BRAT got 11 tonight. I hate carb'd vehicles in cold weather, plus my fan is set to run all the time and the thing takes forever to warm up.
  15. Ok that will be my next project once the weather gets above 18. I will just record it and post my video on here like I did last time and we can go from there. Thanks.
  16. I have had experienced some bad reads with car magazines such as that one. They tend to be overly biased towards American manufactueres and are quick to damn a Subaru for the slightest inconvenience. And they wouldnt dare say that a new Cobra or Z06 was pricey and despised by insurers.
  17. I connected the two green ones. It ran fine for a little bit after that and it has some lurchng and some bucking while driving, also it likes to die at red lights.
  18. Now comes the biggest decesion of the day, to drive BRAT or the fast warming up Legacy.....
  19. Tennessee is abbreviated TN. It very rarely snows here and we usually enjoy nasty rain soaked winters in my region of the state. About an inch or two of snow and everyone forgets how to drive. My main reason for getting a camper was keeping the snow out of the bed, it served it's purpose perfectly. This is what it looked like about 20 minutes later:
  20. I had one last night where I got a EA81T coupe that was rusted through the floor boards and still had the factory turbo jack and tool kit. Was cosmic blue and had gold enkies on it.
  21. After we had one of the hottest summer's on record, I was surprised to see it snowing tonight. Submitted for your viewing pleasure, here is my snowy subes.
  22. This is what the Russian kosmonauts do when they retire from the space program.
  23. If you get them make sure you have a professional paint them and not run around with them installed in the stock form they came in, that would be rice.
