Welcome! My family is from just over the Alps in the Dolomites/Lake Garda region.I know how few Subarus there are in that region.Very surprising that it took sooooooo long for Subaru to catch on up there but it has more to do with politics than common sense. I sold a '76 Subaru to a guy in Sweden.They started with Subarus in 1982 and just like you there really aren't any remaining on the roads today from the 70's and 80's. There are still older Subarus here.The "General Forum" here will be mostly 80's Subarus with some of us dinosaur owners once in a while.The rust sections of the USA are much like your area.Only a select few Subarus have survived in these parts.But as you'll see,the west coast and some of the drier parts of the country still hold some older models. You car sounds like a nice one...just saw the picture,looks very nice. Enjoy!

Guys,I know a good amount of east coast people are catching onto this board lately.All are welcome,new users or old,new Subarus,old Subarus....even NON Subarus. It's light duty sandy trail riding for the most part.You won't be doing stuff like the guys out west or in the mountains.THere's a few spots where you can truely challenge yourself and your vehicle if you want to.No pressure to be macho.We all have to drive home so nobody wants to play mechanic all afternoon either. September 18th is NOT good for me. 2 weeks from now might work-August 28th-29th.....anyone else?

Don't let the post count fool you.I'm indeed "involved" with Subarus but there's a few other fanatics around here that out build,outspend,and out-Subaru even me. Where in CT are you?I have a workshop in Milford,just off exit 40.Feel free to click on my name and email me,etc. In CT we have several members some of which have older Subarus,some have newer ones now,and a couple who don't have one currently but are still pretty much Subaru people. There used to be a way to check by state to see a member list.Probably still around but I haven't seen it in a while.

I've seen EJ lurking here once but haven't seen him post since he sold his hatch. The real guy to get is SVXpert-a.k.a. Mike,Rory,man of a thousand names.He's the king of those trails unless Phatbrat Boz knows better. I think we can get Dennis to come by.Those guys are all lucky to live so close.

Ahhh the good old east coast.....most of these folks' idea of off roading is pulling into their driveway. Fickle Finger of Fate award goes to the east coast Subaru owners.....

Also a known occasional problem with the EA82T....just repeating what my local senior master tech said to me about this.

Smitty,haven't seen you around buy maybe if I shout loud enough you'll hear this. Got this 78k 3door,vintage 1986,for a fairly low price with all costs considered.Only problem is the interior is moldy.It's a major cleaning so I'm possibly cleaning/replacing and making it normal or........drum roll please.... Thinking I'll remove the rear hatch,the top(roof) right in back of the sunroof,which is aftermarket and sucks-hence the moldy interior.Chop the side to make it more like a truck bed.THen fill in a wall behind the front seats from the rear of the sunroof down to the floor.Hopefully a slider in that rear wall too. Naturally there'll be no original interior rear of the front seats.Since I'm the king of white cedar lately I'll deck it appropriately.Bolt some tie down rings in and call it my truck.Could be a victim for the plow this winter.Too bad it sits as an automatic 4WD My redneck roadkill rice rocket from hell.Make a cover for it with the vinyl stock I've had laying around for 10 years.Drill some drain holes in the floor. OK,so please share your 3door horror stories.Chop chop.

WOW!!!!! Will they let me move there? Just emailed you about stuff like everybody else is probably doing. With me it's a blue dashboard I desire,for my '78 4WD wagon,among many things. Oh,one more thing.Is there a split gate,or "tailgate" wagon anywhere to be found for sale?That and a GSR would be cool.

I've got some for you if you need them.Just as long as they don't fit my '78,then I'd have to keep them. I know I have a set of rear windows from a '75 4WD wagon and probably all those rubber gaskets too. As to where to get them.....please let us know when you fine a definite answer.

Keep the rubber,almost every one I ever saw had them. Your bar will be going out very soon. Mick,I have a few sets.Should I send you one to copy? I have "SUBARU","five speed",and might have "four wheel drive" too.

Talk it up boys 'n grrlz. I'm thinking late August....early September? Early September seems better to me right now but I'd love to sometime real soon.Don't make me and my son be the only ones there.We'll be going for sure,so if only a few of us get together that's fine for me.I don't need an "East Coast Meet" or anything too serious right now.Just a nice day in the woods,challenging the Subaru's 4WD and suspension. I'd love to do a PA yard run too.We never got that run in this past spring like a few of us wanted to do.The minor cool snap in the air this week has provoked the mind.Let's have some fun before the snow because once that happens it's all local thrills untill springtime. Well,it looks like I've stirred the hive again....sorry guys,it was MY idea...yup,my BIG mouth again....And Rob wants me to cover transportation....hmmmm,I can start stealing boats now and get them all going towards San Diego.We sail the Pacific at noon May 1st 2005!!!!!!That should get us there by July or so.... Seriously,I know NZ would be an outstanding destination with or without cars involved.But I think the numbers are here and besides,aren't you all wealthy in NZ?You guys can ship your rides here.We'll gladly escort you upon arrival to the big show.Just kidding....again. Please,take lots of pictures and send them along.Show those old Subarus that have rotted away,for the most part,here.For now I think that's about the best we can do. Now,should we ever get Subaru involved...they could supply a limited amount of cars to use,help with some sponsoring,etc.... Is anyone familiar with Ducati Days?It's a big annual event.You can go ride in Italy,provided you're a registered Duc owner.You pay a fee of course but it's a great package.You can send your bike as well but for folks on our budgets I think paying the fee and beating someone else's ride is king. Subaru would offer trips to the factory...so to add NZ,just a few hundred bucks more I'd think.But most of us have only spent a few hundred bucks on our rides.....hmmm,gotta go sharpen that pencil.

The first two pages are mostly the Gen I's and the "glass slipper". THe glass beast is on top of a Ford Bronco set up.A little tough to see the Gen I from Arizona and the glass beauty in the garage. The guy emailed me.He's back to $2500 for just the 2 Gen I BRATs,no shell included.Sorry for the teaser.Apparently he's made the glass kit unobtainable for now.He mentioned possibly getting some run off ***BUT,PLEASE READ....THERE WILL BE NO MORE MADE......at this time,and this one is no longer available. '85-'89 GL-10 sedans.I used on in my GL.It was a 3 way,the BEST!!! I could fit 8' 2x4's and a 6' step ladder in my sedan and all of it be below eye level. The 3 way has the fold down armrest too as I recall.
