SERIOUS Gen I BRAT shoppers only please
Ladies and gentlemen, please read thoroughly...the whole post please, before replying.Thank you. THere's a guy up this way with 2 Gen I's..... One(from AZ!!!) is a very solid car but has light surface rust. This is not the typical northeast rust.this vehicle is entirely treatable and can be made nice once again. The interior needs replacement for the most part.Same for paint, plastic and rubber parts...the usual sun baked wholesome un-goodness.....light blue w/black interior. THe other is a daily driver type that is also very solid but from NY.This one I actually rode in and it was very sound. The engine is in very good shape and I believe has 106K on it.Dark green w/blk int.Has some mags with Saab centercaps. The mags I believe are Subaru, the 70's style I can't think of right now and am too busy to go looking. "Subarufreak" and I were up there.I'll answer questions as best as I can or even call the guy for you.He doesn't want to deal with lots of people. He just recently lowered his price from $2500 for both down to $2000. There's a few other parts to be tossed in as well. Here's the wild part. And before you go ape,get in line.I might just get this item and sell the vehicles....or if there is great interest and an eventual buyer I'm working this piece in to be mine for the "handling/search fee",from him,not you. The other piece is a fibreglass Gen II BRAT shell-yes full size, the REAL thing. He also has fibreglass doors and a hood to boot. Calm down.....I know you're excited."Subarufreak" and I both agree that this should be made into a street ripper, not go into the woods to be destroyed after all that work. FORGET about asking about the shell as a seperate buy...ain't happenin'... I'll load up pictures later. The guy wants to deal through me. Subarufreak and I need to get our heads together as we were both very interested. We might work out some deal and I'm pretty sure one of these will be available....the vehicles, not the shell if I have my way....or "SF" has his. Talk to you guys later.

Looking for a favor in Michigan
Hi everybody, I'm looking to get some turbo heads from a guy who stopped by the board.I'm still not entirely clear on the details but it goes something like this.If he ships them from Michigan it'll cost more and if he ships from Canada it'll cost less but be taxed for officially crossing into Bushmerica. So if someone is in northern MI,and can help me out that'd be great. Again,I need to look through my old emails, etc. and find out which town he's near...sorry for the lack of that detail. But let's just say he must be well north, like on or near the border....or over it. If this is the least bit of a hassle I'll just pay the money and get a tissue, cry in the corner and who knows, maybe even get over it. Thanks for any help,if possible.I'll get more details a little later.

About timing belt changing!
Florin, Welcome.Your English is fine. We've got a good little Romanian population here in Bridgeport,CT And I'm also half Romanian. You may have trouble with older idler pulleys. If they have much resistance when you spin them it's best to change them. Also as mentioned, when doing the T-belts you want to do the front main, cam seals 'n O rings,etc....all depends how much you want to put into it and how long you want it to last. I'd be happy to get you parts at my discount if you want Subaru parts.I've forgotten what the usual package costs but I can probably find a reciept and check the prices.THere's also some places to order parts from online if you're set up to do that.I'm not sure on customs, but if you want something be sure to email me. Paul

Tough! Mighty tough....the look, the stance, the whole package.Just a sweet car.If you stray from stock how about an EA81T in there with some rear disks? I'll bet it's fun just like it is though. One word:KEEPER!!- have u seen this brat on ebay yet?
I've got the low mileage EA81 to drop in...the engine crane...the tools...the know-how.....but ain't got no thousands of dollars to toss into one, rustfree or not.But I tell ya,in a couple more years I'll be looking for one just like this...and might drop a couple grand then.- 1972 subaru gsr coupe photos now in photo gallery
Oooooo baby!!! can't wait...load 'em up,load 'em up!!!!!!!- have u seen this brat on ebay yet?
How about the other one the seller has? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6467&item=2485415205- Check those grounding points and connections! Fixed my A/C
My beloved touring wagon-1989 GL 4WD.It's the large A/C unit....Hitachi? It wasn't working and summer was all over us.I saw the collector was a healthy green through the glass.I knew the car hadn't been used "properly"-inlaws were using it-so I took it up to the workhole and went over the connections. THere was some corrosion in the black round connector that powers the A/C on the tounge.I took a very thin blade flat screwdriver and wrapped it with some 400 grit paper.Got it in there and cleaned it up.Dab some dielectric grease in there and also cleaned up the grounding points on the strut tower and radiator support for kicks. Bam! Instant relief....shooooooooey!!!! Cool as a cucumbrrrrrrrrr in CT:cool: Hope this helps some fellow sufferer.I can't stand the summer heat.- hello from n.y.c
35 minutes up the road....welcome...Go Yankees! Hey Ho Let's Go!!- gsr parts wanted
I might have the fender for you.I've got some from a stage I....I'll try to send a picture later.- oldschool 60's subie van
THere's one here in CT."WagonsOnly owns it and hopefully it'll be running someday soon,on batteries, not petro. We also had someone from Ohio drop one off at the Carlisle show that a group of board members attended. The owner wasn't one of us and as far as I know it was dropped off Friday early and picked up Sunday...maybe the others know more or actually met the owner. I believe the vans are the most rare and even if they weren't they are probably the most desirable.I know I want one. THere was one on the road right near me untill a few years ago.It was last in Stratford,CT,but none of the people I know who have seen it before have seen it lately......a confusing sentence but i think you get the point. Getting to be more New Englanders here. It's about freakin time!- found a shed full of subaru wheels. want any? ***UPDATE
John,I just emailed you. Very interested in any 70's wheels including the sport mag, even if just one of those.REaly would like any centercaps for those if possible. Also interested in any 70's wheels and maybe some others if the vultures leave any for picking.- Adios amigos
Left a message, sorry I missed your calls. Talk to you soon.- Make an EA82 carb motor run like it's not a carb motor?
Jesse,my '86 ran the best with next to no emmisions crap on it and all hoses checked, and either removed or blocked up.....all of a sudden I had no flat spot and power like a muthuh.....and then I sent it to the crusher just to "move on"....wish I had at least donated it but at the time nobody I knew close enough wanted it. But of course if you want to sell it you'd better keep all that crap on there and try a good cleaning, maybe a rebuild on that carby.- any body have a gen1 2 door coupe...?
Just replied to your email.Tag it for me.Thanks To all: The coupe is still at Pat's and I'm trying to raise the dough to get it back.- 80's Subaru report:Northern New England-The Griswolds '84 wagon tours Yankee country
Hey Brad!! Good to see you around.I'll trade you the boil for the ten man dome. That sounds like me/us.Must have been Saturday the 3rd around 2PM??Maybe a little later.Sorry I didn't notice you.Too many Legacys and Imprezas in New England to take note these days. Ahhh, the Cape...so when do you pack it up for the season?I plan on hitting lower Maine sometime in the next couple of months.Could stop by there or B'town if you're back at the winter quarters by then.Minor email coming right after this.- 80's Subaru report:Northern New England-The Griswolds '84 wagon tours Yankee country
Maine seems to be a decent place to find a few left.Lots of '87-94's I didn't notice many '85-6 grills though. There was at least (2) '80-84 wagons up there including a near double of the one we were in. New Hamphire still hanging tough as well.Saw many '87-94's. Vermont-not much of a report since I mainly tore through I-91 southbound leaving a trail of dust.Did stop for dinner and there were plenty of newer Legacys. My car got many looks, and smiles at the eatery. I saw the infamous 7K '78 wagon that sold on eBay a while back. It's now at a dealer in NH where they're asking $10K !!!!!! yes, that's ten thousand dollars they're asking......no comment on the pricing needed please, but it sure made me feel good about mine. No Brats on the roads during my trip-that I saw. I stopped in one Subaru specialist shop.Got tons of smiles, talk with the boys about all sorts of older Subarus....we all know the same sources, funny, they even know the guys here in CT and who's a rip-off as well.LOL!! So,you want to hear about the "Griswold's" eh?? Well, there we were looking totally vintage touring chic when this bitchin VW microbus pulls up a few campsites away.Well,I gave him my best thumbs up and told him "nice bus!".He didn't notice my wagon untill they split, when he was driving out,and said "hey, sweet wagon you got too!!". Otherwise we were definitely touring in the oldest car of all the vacationing folks. The car did great.Great gas mileage-well considering it was packed.Had one instance where the car wouldn't start but it was wet wires and poor connections only.Found this out after hitting a junkyard, but it was ok because I scored some cool parts for a decent price as well. So,speaking of junkyards, there I am scrambling to get to Freeport to see Gabe at his yard.In the back of my mind I know his place closes early but I'm trying like hell to get there for 3:30.....round about 3:38 here comes Gabe going the other way.He didn't notice me and I didn't have any phone numbers for him to let him know I was coming,or that he just passed me.Luckily there's 2 yards in Freeport and the other was open 'till 5...decent enough people too. We never did get a picture of the car all loaded up like we wanted to.It was a sight to see.Total submarine technology, everthing packed to save space.Had the Sears "exCargo" pod on top of mint condition vintage Thule racks. The car and set up looked like they were 3-5 years old,not 20!!!The rack parts were mostly new, just unpacked the day before we left as I had a ton of stuff from my windsurfing days still new! All was great.Thr trip started with a visit from "rogue43"-a.k.a. Milt and his wife. They are from Maine but picked up a car in NJ and drove it back-stopping at my workshop to make it more roadworthy.THat was Friday afternoon/evening.Then I KERRRRRANNNNKED out an all nighter on my packing and got home around 4:30 AM,hit the bed for a short nap and then back to meet Milt and his wife after loading up my family here. We tandem'd up for quite a strectch untill I sort of broke away near NH.Somehow we got more delayed after that and they were at our campsite waiting for us.Good thing our cell phones were working so they didn't wait for us after a conversation. We got caught in some wicked fireworks traffic....oh well. Camped at Camden Hills State Park then Bar Harbor-Acadia Nat. Pk. (Blackwoods),then hit Rogue Bluffs and camped on the ocean at Milt's place.I call it heaven, very hard to leave.Hit the Bah-hah-bah area on the return, then NH for Storyland for the kiddies.Ahh,the White Mountains!!! Thanks to Milt and his wife Norma for all their help and kindness. Gabe, sorry I missed you.The yard looks great from the outside.Hope to make it up sometime before the end of summer. Downeast Maine is highly recommended. Hope you guys get a great vacation in this year too. Thanks for reading. Cheers!- Gone camping, see you next week.
I think I sent the via Fed Ex Ground before I went away.Yikes, that's a long time even for Alaska....I'll check on it tomorrow. Where you headed out east?Let me know when and I'll make some time. - 1972 subaru gsr coupe photos now in photo gallery
