What is the width of a Brat?
moosens replied to Hocrest's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Good luck Dave.Gee,I'm surprised nobody brought up those "issues" you need to work out first with all these characters here. -
Thanks for the offer but I am booked at the Hapton Inn in North Ashland through the company, etc. Leaving in a few minutes.See you guys on Friday. Won't be much fun time during the day.

Flowie-"the ticket" means it's a good thing.Parault is OEM.......Original Equipement per Manufacturer...or something close to that. Lucky me I have both genders to deal with,EA81 and EA82,both soon, very soon.

Jon, You'll be on I-95 coming from the west,or should be.Take exit 40,left at the end of the exit,go up to the light and take a right onto Woodmont Rd..On the left you'll see a Shell gas station,a Drunkin Dognuts, and a small industrial park.I'm in there-230 Woodmont Rd.-#41-C in wonderful Milford,CT Last night was a towel waver,I gave up and actually got sleep for a change. So now I'm ready to rip,but have some family stuff, etc. to do this AM I will indeed be there late AM like 11:00 and then break for a lunch back home if I'm still alone.I'll leave a note-if I remember-otherwise just assume I'll be right back.I'll PM my cell phone # As for the parts, stop and hang/help and I'm sure I can let them mighty mighty cheap....like $10 ea. or so....you know the deal,I'm no stiffy, and appreciate any help in these times so I'll even say just take them as long as we kick some butt. All doors will be open and lots going on today.Anyone is welcome to stop by. I'm going to be there all day-except for maybe from 1-3PM....if you get there around then take a ride by the water and see the young ladies tanning and strutting......but remember to come back!!!!!

I'll put on some Romanian violin music for you....I mean us. only in my case it's a Parault oil pump.Only got about 2 years if that, from it.Paraults are usually the ticket. What make was your H20 pump? Cheers

Need an idea on pricing for a 78 Brat
moosens replied to benebob's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
sorry but you have to start real low like "i can get it towed away for free''. if it were on the road start at $100 East coast rules apply here kids. -
25 RIGHT ON!!!! and #25 from CT!!! I drove a Cosworth Ford Sierra (Taurus here in US I think). My cousin has been Northern Italy's top Ford dealer and I was there in '90 when the whale tail Escorts were so new/rare they only had one and would not let me drive it after letting me drive the Seirra. Those Cosworth Escorts must make hair grow.

There's a bunch of us who will register the 25th car as our second or third car. BUT,it'd be cool to see another board member sign up thier first car and crack the big 2 5 Scott K. is Wagon78's name and I didn't see it listed. Attn:We are now in possesion of an official USMB calender car.THat's right,Chris L. has sold the '84 wagon to me-or my sister inlaw. This could be my second car registered if I can find a driver. Then there's the '87 Turbo wagon looking good enough to eat off of......Driver's Wanted:-p
-
Yes,I have some fenders,a hood, etc. Thanks for offering. I've been called in for a rush job so I'm working lots of hours all of a sudden, have both my cars down, trying to make an '84 wagon road ready for my inlaws, etc. so it's tough to say exactly when I'll be able to do this now. Fear not,I'm still doing this, just not sure of day or time.

Update and correction: I AM bringing a lasagne and then some even if we don't get the 25. Sorry to sneak it(the post-link to Carlise) in there like that but we'd really like to get a good cross-section of Subarus. All years and models welcome.Come see my '78 4WD wagon or a lifted Brat that deserves to be in the glossy magazines,or a few less than perfect but very unique Subarus. There were Volvos and Saabs from the 90's to present last year....are we going to stand for that???? Show your Impreza or Legacy.Show your Baja or Forester. It's a great day, you'll love it and see cars to drool over.
-
Open answers/replies,etc. to the group: Yes,the lasagne will be there barring any unforseen disasters. I've got a double burner Coleman camping stove. Also have a monster sized cooler-well at least mighty big. Most of us attending are not very rich and to be quite frank, are mostly all on a tight budget.Don't sweat it,bit do try to contribute if you can.Steal some supplies from the company/office lunchroom,etc.... Meeting for a beer sounds good to me on Saturday night. As long as the kids can be sedated properly I'm sure my wife won't mind if I go out for a little while. Perhaps once we're settled with the registration we can get an actual account of food and supplies being brought so we can see what we'll still need to bring. My lasagne should cover at least 20+ single servings.Might make more,we'll see.Food rules! ...one more thing.Wagon78 where are you??????????

Need some help on a tranny swap
moosens replied to calebz's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Bingo! Corky is the man with the correct answer in my opinion. Caleb,I am doing the same dawg gone thing to my same dawg gone car you have at the same dawg gone time....dawg!!! Here's what I have done.I now own a decent enough 2 1/2 ton shop crane(engine lift) .....for $119 at PoopBoys you can't go wrong-legs can fold up-totally bitchin. Crank up the driver's side w/floor jack, works best for me,use them jacks stands!!,***slide the tranny under the crossmember(must be jacked fairly high, little diagonal wiggle,etc.-being careful of the actuator),lift the bellhousing end up onto the crossmember using brute force and ignorance to a degree.By that I mean don't have both feet on the ground.Use the crossmember as a brace and save your back. The tranny is fairly light.Don't forget that when you lift the front up that any gear oil in it will drip out the back....oh,boy can I tell you about that... Have the tranny a good few inches onto the crossmember, not just barely on the lip at the rear edge of the crossmember. Also once it's up there tie it off to the rad. support so it won't slop back at you when you're under the car. Then as the CorkMeister said gityoassunduhthere and benchpress-you even get to go one handed for a few seconds while you reach for the blocks you brought under the car with you to help prop it up for a second.I used two bricks-being of Italian decent-and then *could have gotten a jack to help* but muscled it up and in-being of Italian decent. ....like that but with happy results. Have those rubber mounting disks and bolts ready ...like you don't know this...e bouno riparazione!!! Ciao -

Weather permitting as this will involve opeinng the garage door and removing lots of parts, etc. and sorting,tossing,boxing,inventory,etc..... Not sure of exact time but I can be there but I'm hoping for an early start.Anyone willing is welcome to stop by to help for any amount of time.Even if just to grab some FREEBIES and split.I'm ok with that too.A large part of the equation is getting the old stuff OUT....that I just don't need.Much EA81 stuff will be FREE.A good amount of EA82 stuff as well. Not this coming weekend, next weekend please. April 17-18 Milford,CT just off I-95 at exit 40 230 Woodmont Rd. unit 41-C Email for the easiest directions you'll ever get.30-60 seconds or so from the highway.

Hey,I heard that! I've got a special dish for you Freak. I'll make some burgers and stuff just incase I suck. Get off your asses posers!!!!!!!!!! If you read this and live anyfrigginwhere near PA you should be going. Back to food....seriously now, will any of you eat venison if I make some? I'm not sure what's left. There should be some sausages and stew chunks.Might be some cubed stakes too. Those are sooooooo tender.I don't normally marinade my venison.Lots of folks think you must with a capital M but there's no bad "gamey" taste if you know how to cook it.I'll be happy to marinade some for those who'd prefer it.I would use white wine and maybe some spices....don't like the salad dressing b/s. If I have enough I'll make a "chili" which really isn't a chili but more of a pepper/onions/spices combo strongly resembling chili(don't call my chili a poser or it'll kick your rump roast).....I don't use cumin,or at least I don't in this recipe. So it doesn't taste like your local dog stand chili....it's freakin better dammit!!! See you there!
