  1. carbs unlimited will probably have the official redline adapter and they are right down the hill from you. I'm running this on my '86 ea82 and wasn't too happy with it. Lots of trips to town to get the right hardware to make it work. It fits the manifold poorly as well. Barely covers the coolant hole. If I had it to do again I might try something like THIS or even better would be to make the adapter that fits the carb and then Tig weld it to the manifold. Good luck.
  2. I've only found the filter near the pump on my '86. Haven't seen anything in the FSM about a second filter for the carb'd models either. Good luck.
  3. http://www.finleyweb.net/default.asp?id=142 ea-82 sevice manual part 2. The electrical stuff starts on page 126 with lots of wiring diagrams towards the end. Not sure if what you need is there but good luck anyhow.
  4. Hey Sidewayz that's a good idea. I can get the 1/8th NPT adapter that came with the guage to start into the idiot light hole but it gets hard to turn, quick. I almost forced it in for a "permanent" install but I managed to talk myself out of it thinking that it would leak. Some tap work is in my future. No idiot light on my GL so I'm gonna run both guages, Mech. and stock Elect. Thanks for the replies, fellas.
  5. Over the years I have put 3 different SOA sending units in. I would like to put in a more reliable mechanical guage as well as the stock electric one. I think the right answer is to find a fitting for the idiot light hole ("B"). I was wondering if setting it up in port "A" is doable since I wouldn't have to buy anything. Just not sure how the valve functions or it's purpose really.
  6. Looking to install a Mechanical oil pressure guage on my EA-82. So far the with the adapters supplied with the guage the only threads that fit is marked "A" in the pics below. It's the oil pressure relief valve, I think. I can install the fittings for the guage using the spring and it seats to about the same spot. IS there any problem with setting it up like this? IF so then I'm looking for the size and thread count of the hole marked "B" below. Hopefully Tacoma Screw will have something. Thanks
  7. Hey Turbone, I'm looking for some GL-10 seats. What color and how much?
  8. Looks like a good deal with shipping... I bought this kit from from a place local to me in Washington. http://carbsunlimited.com/Weber/Dataresults3.asp?Kit_Nbr=K731&Model=ALL%20,%20INCLUDING%20BRAT I wasn't thrilled with the kit for the EA-82. The adapters fit lousy and barely covered the coolant hole in the manifold. I had to go out and buy hardware because some of the mounting bolts were to long, studs and nuts as well. No return line hose barb. Personally I would be willing to layout a few more dollars for a superior product that was "plug and play" and saved me a trip into town. If your kit addresses these issues you'll get my money next time around.
  9. EGR is the first pic you have listed: http://tedztoyzz.freewebpage.org/EGR.jpg
  10. Front rotors: 18mm thickness Std. 16mm thickness service limit 242mm diameter Rear rotors: 10mm thickness Std. 8.5mm thickness service limit 226mm diameter 270 ml (9.1 fl oz) dot 3 or 4 brake fluid required for the system.
  11. It was about 1200 rpm when I recorded it. I had the crank ground 10/10. The plastigage was showing that I was still in spec but pretty close to the outside limit. Are there different specs for undersized bearings? All I had was the crummy haynes manual to go off. Could bearings produce noise like that? It makes a real loud metallic chirping sound when you open the throttle.
  12. Yeah it's so loud and nasty sounding that I didn't want to let it get up to operating Temp so I could time it and adjust the carb. Oil pressure is at 45 lbs. Think I could have plugged a vital oil passage with the ultra gray block sealer? I took the lifters apart for cleaning so I'm sure they're full of air but they wouldn't sound like that would they? Any Ideas?
  13. Rebuilt my ea-82 and stuffed it back in with the webber on it. Fired it up and it sounds terrible. I expected noisy lifters but this sounds far more serious. The audio on my camera tones it down some, it's really loud. Hoping someone could listen to this and give ideas as to what I did wrong. Click the link then right click on the movie thumb and "save target as" Thanks. http://usmb.net/gallery/Flow?page=2
  14. You can check with TheSubaruJunkie. He's in Sacramento and might have some Garage references for you. Personaly I would spend my money on a Weber but with Ca. emmissions that might be more problems than you have now.
  15. Here's the link to Cameron's page for cleaning the lifters. http://homepage.powerup.com.au/~camncath/ea82_hydraulic_lifter_fix.htm
  16. Miles Fox is responsible for the excelent write up. It helped me out today also. Thanks MF.

  18. Hey Mark, The easiest way to know the condition of your T-belts is to change them. You know it's time to change them when: 1. They break and you are stuck on the side of the road. 2. You have about 55 to 60K on them. 3. They are visibly checked and/or missing teeth. #3 is easy to do by pulling the covers and looking the belts over. #2 assumes you have documentation of the last T-belt replacement #1 does no harm because the EA-82 is a noninterference engine. It's just inconvenient. Changing them is not too hard and the link above is a good resource. IF you do plan on tearing into it you might as well reseal the oil pump and replace the H2O pump. You have to pull off all the same stuff off to do the oil pump anyway. Recommend getting a manual. I'm not sure what a shop would charge or even what's fair if you’re not into wrenching on your car. Someone else here might be able to quote you prices.
  19. Anybody use any kind of "sealant" products when installing main seals? One of the permatex silicones perhaps? I've come across this in a couple posts and am just wondering if it is in widespread use. It was being used in small amouts on the outside edge of the seal to glue it to the block. I'm installing new non oem seals. Thanks.
  20. From what I've gathered the cam cases are prone to leak. Mine did and so did my buddys ea-82. I don't think trying a shortcut on an area that's prone to leak would be a good idea. Just my thought on subject. Shouldn't matter tho, since you can torque with them in place. I think your lifter noise might be tied more to your oil pressure than dirty lifters. Resealing the oil pump might quiet things down some. Good luck.
  21. Yes, I buzzed it with an air ratchet. Yes, I will use a impact. Yes, there is a hex head hole. Yes, you guys rock.
  22. Looking for a wiring diagram for this switch. I believe its out of an 89 gl wagon, not sure tho. I hope (with a little help from some of you electrical guru's) to wire this to a relay and aftermarket driving lights. Thanks.
  23. hmm... didn't notice a hole but it's something to look into when it gets light out. Thanks for the input.
