I went and looked at it again...took two pictures of the car with my cellular phone (sorry the quality is crappy) I like it...except for the dings and that big dent...I am gonna keep looking but keep this one in mind. Maybe i'll go look next time i'm in Pittsburgh again. I did the CarFax...came up clean.

What do you think... 1996 Outback...90,000 miles..5 speed. $5998 is what they went to from $6998. Should I try and go lower? Is it worth much less? Also, there is a nice dent in the hood and the grill is busted. Looks like someone hit a high bumper (the corner of it) or something. The paint is good where the dent is...but its just like a golf ball size indentation. I will take a picture of it with my cell phone when I go look today and post it later. The inside is flawless and the paint is ok...few scrapes here and there...but not other dents...so some touch up paint would do fine. I'll post later on what else I find out and a picture of it. Lemme know what you people think.

I don't need the VIN ran...I signed up for CarFax. I went and looked at the 1996 OBW. 90k miles...they wanted $6998 for it and then said they could give it for $5998. I will know tomorrow if my loan was approved...so i'll go check it out again on Wed. and test drive it and all that and make a decision. I will offer them $5500. The hood has a dent...and the front grill and and Subaru emblem are messed up (looks like that hit a corner of a high bumper, loading dock, or something...just needs the dent fixed and a new plastic piece) Other than that its in nice shape. The inside is wonderful...its perfect. There some sime minor dings and scaped paint on the rear of the one bumper. I am gonna keep looking...but i'm gonna keep this one in mind

I didnt recieve email from you, subeman90. matt@mattocs.net is my email address...perhaps you typed it wrong or my email is slow. Anyways, yeah...converting a auto to a manual trans would be a lot of work...and its even hard to find a 1995 - 1998 2.2l Legacy in good shape with any kind of transmission. I dunno what to do. I know I will be unhappy with the car unless its a Subaru. The 1996 Outback I am thinking about might not be so bad. I wouldn't mind driving a wagon...lots of room.

If anyone has a CarFax account and has the unlimited VIN checks...I need one checked out for me. 4S3BG4859T6987369 Thanks a lot. It is a 1996 Outback 5 speed. 90500 miles. Asking $6998 at a local Ford dealer. This might be the car for me. I hope this one runs well and does not get sold before I can get to it (both have happened...1995 Legaacy was sold before I could go back and test it and I tested a 1998 Legacy and it had problems) matt@mattocs.net if anyone can check it out. Thanks people

The EJ22 is a swell engine...209,800 (or so) and still going strong...only things replaced on the car so far have been tires, brakes, roters, oil seals, clutch, battery, and timing belt...maybe some other basic things...but everything else works real well. Yeah...how many miles are on it and stuff...i'd like to hear more

I am looking at a 98 L...they want $6500...it has 70k miles...so I am gonna offer them $4500...heh. Needs timing belt changed...and oil seals...etc...hopefully I can get it for $5300ish. Use stuff like that to talk them down...every ding and such be like 'well thats gonna have to be fixed etc etc' Good luck finding a car.

The new headgaskets are fine. The Forester was rated best small SUV in some latest poll (top 10 cars for like 10 catagories) I went and looked at them...they are nice vehicles and the reliability should be fine...better than any other vehicle in its class...besides...what else would you do? Buy a Ford Escape or a Chevy Tracker?
