No, I'm not saying that there is/is not interchangability. Just that they omited a huge block of cars. Actually, now that I think about it, EA81 and EA82 clutch disks are NOT interchangable, they have a different size hole in the middle.

To bad they skip right over the EA82 series cars:( . Tim

How much is a Dual Range Worth?
chef_tim replied to sandman's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Alot depends on where you are at. The cheapest manual tranny I have found here was $250 and I had to go to N. Sioux City to get it. I paid $500 from a wrecking yard for a push button auto when I first started with Roos. On the left coast those guys get trannies for $60. Best thing to do is shop around. Later, Tim -

SD is easy!!!! Go to the court house and get the paper for an abandoned car. Send the last known owner, to the last known address, thier paper work in a certified letter (most people put in a "towing and storage" bill too). 30 days later, you either have a pocket full of cash (towing & storage) or the title is yours. I've changed the studs in all the cars I put Pugs on. Just gives me a bit of peace of mind. I use "Doorman"(sp?) studs that are about 1/4 inch longer and .03 inches thicker. You will definately need to have them pressed in. Check at you local parts house, a good one will have all sorts of crazy nuts/bolts. Tim

We didn't even drive the Legacy GT. There is a 10k difference in price between the WRX/GTs and the 2.5RS. I'd like to call that "affordable preformance". The RS is right in our price range and yes, if I could do it I would go for the GT. Vicky would go for the WRX. Still we can afford a little more then a base line Legacy, so to me the RS make good sence. -

They offered, but I knew for sure we couldn't even touch that so we passed. -
We just got back from the dealership.................. DROVE AN 05 WRX!!!!!!!! My heart was actually papulating:D . I can not even discribe the feeling of being behind the wheel of that car. I'd have to say mainlining speed balls would be about as close as one could get:slobber: . So now we know we don't want to get into a $500 a month payment so we looked at an 05 2.5RS. I loved it, Vicky is having second thoughts though, she thinks its an old lady car. Can some one please tell her it is still a sporty, performance car, just a more resonable and sensible vehicle. PS the Legacy GT is absolutly beautiful!!!!! But again, a $500 a month payment.

is ea-82 a good engine???

If your planning on going into DEEP mud and water, do not use an EA82. The tensioners will get mud and water in them and crap out and eat the belts. Please believe me on this one, I'm speaking from experience here. Later, tim -

Col. on base has an 88 wagon, 5spd 2wd EA82. I have told him for a few years that when he was done with it I'd take it off his hands. Well, he is and I am. This is going to force my hand on a "strip and ship" on our silver 87 wagon. I'll be keeping the drive line and a few other parts but the rest will be up for grabs if it is convinient (ie, don't ask for the heater core, or shipping of large items etc). as per my norm, Shipping and a small gratuity is all I ask. Interior is blue exterior is silver. Email is your best bet to get to me. Thanks, Tim
