86 EA82 cam noise?/oil pressure
chef_tim replied to 86surfwagon's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Start easy and cheap........ add a quart of "Marvel Mystery Oil" to the crank case. If that doesn't work go to a 50w oil. Finally, you probably need a new oil pump gasket, and while your in there change the oil pump, water pump and T-belts too. At idle your pressure can drop to just shy of nothing, but at operating speed you should have pressure. Welcome to the board, Tim -
Please List Any Carb Rebuilding Tips here....

Tool Tip: get one of these to measure the rise and drop of your float.........http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=16892 Sorry it wouldn't let me use my picture again. -
Hey Galyn, just take a deep breath and step back for a second............ Okay, now I'd say get the stud good and hot, then hit it with PB Blaster. Give it a wiggle back and forth. Unless there is any stud left sticking up, You'll probably be better of just getting a different intake. Sorry man wish I had more words of wisdom, but that's it. Later, Tim

I'm in the process of chipping out the rubbery/tar stuff they put in at the factory so I can "Speedline" the interior of my hatch. What a pain!!! The guy I talk to said they "rough" the surface with 80 grit. He said the best prep is a light sand blast, which I may do. I had the same experience with the rubberized under coating, didn't last a whole summer on my truck. Later, Tim

I bought a set of jets from Big Jim Hilton, 140/140 mains, 60/55 idle, 165/160A/C. The difference is huge. Still not alot of top end, but it seems to hold it better now. Low end torque is great, you can feel it just tapping the peddal. Now to check milage, this fill up was 14 mpg:eek: , I might as well be driving a Hummer:lol: . Big thanks to Jim:clap: . Tim

YES YES World USMB meet in NZ
chef_tim replied to subGSR's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I'd agree that NZ would be a great place to visit. however, it wouldn't be much of a Subaru meet with out any of our Subbies. Logisticaly, it would be next to imposible to get many people, not to mention their cars, to NZ. If we ever do decide to go there on holiday, you'll be the fist person we look up!!! Cheers, Tim -
Dang, and Q is already on them.....:-p

Yikes!!!! How could I forget that one........... http://homepage.powerup.com.au/~camncath/retrofitting_the_weber_dgav_32.htm

Hey Galyn, I don't have them right off, but a Google search for "Weber Carb" will get you the top three or four. Carbsunlimited, redlineweber (topend actually), and a couple of others. Later, Tim
