Keep my Subee Alive:Flushing Rad tips!!??
chef_tim replied to SubeeTed's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Don't waste your time or money on a flush. If that is the original radiator, it is time to replace it. OEM style rads are only about $110-$125. The Would have me a bit worried, that would be an indicator of oil in your A/F, and that would indicate a head problem. Also, that may explain the excessive oil consumption. I'd start with a compresion test, then move into the rad. Later, Tim -

As long as it was in the ring gear it should have fallen into the bottom pan. Tim -
Broken screwdriver in flywheel
chef_tim replied to higgnoid's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
There's nothing for it to catch on, it should be down in the pan under the F/W. I'd just listen over the F/W the first time you start it. A metalic screaching sound would be a good indicator that it was hung up on something. If there is no noise, let it be. Later, Tim -

I just boutgh two from the dealership, they weren't very much mony like $17 and $22. Of course if you use the "T" word (turbo) they'll add on a 28% upcharge (J/K). Check with them and see or go to www.1stsubaruparts.com Later, Tim

I'm with Nicky. There are just so many to choose from, the SVX did cross my mind first, but that would just be one of many. Now that my Hatch has a sterio, it is definately my most favorite owned Subby.

Sealing Water Port for Weber
chef_tim replied to The Scooby's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I used a small piece of nylon screen and JB Weld. I used the sceen to create a nest for the JB Weld, and I applied two coats. It has held on two intakes so far with out any problems. Later, Tim -
If you use the universal cable mounting kit, don't cut the end of the cable. Just take a propain tourch to it. It is lead and will leave just enough to keep the cable from fraying. Tim

Don't break the fluid seal anywhere unless you bring someone to help you bleed the brakes. It shouldn't be neccesary, but it can make it easier to turn the caliper in if you remove the bleeder. Tim

VERY nicely done gentlemen!!! How about the power plant to move that thing??? -
How tight did you torque the PP bolts???? Should only be something like 11-15 flbs. If you over tighten it, the fingers suck in and you wont get much contact. Tim

Please tell me that's not camo duct tape...LOL. If it is you have way to much time on your hands. On the other hand, it does look cool. Kind of like the new Jar-head uniforms:D . I see your from MN, it could also be serving as "flexable" body panel filler too!!! Later, Tim
