  1. Okay, this makes sense. What I found to be close to TDC was about -4º. I used the light and if this assumption is correct my timeing was at about 30º advance:eek: . I set the timeing on the 10º advance make, that should actually be 14º. Funny thing it never pinged or rattled like other cars I've driven with way to much advance. After that I re-re-jetted my carb (last re-jet was way to rich). And so the tale continues. Thanks a tonne for the help guys, Tim
  2. I just hit it with the light, 0º on the fly wheel shows up at 4º on my timeing light. That being said, I don't have a reference point to tell me what true TDC is. So now I'm going to mark the flywheel with a TDC mark and use that as a reference point. Sound about right??? Great discussion on this subject guys. Tim
  3. Rick set the dizzy, I just had to move it a tooth. It runs great, but in the persuite of perfecting my Weber carb I want to be able to get the optimale timing out of this thing. I seem to be running out of adjustment to early. I'll look it over tomorrow and see how it looks. Graet idea with the turbo crank pullie. I just PMed you by the way. Tim
  4. I'm going to have to go look at mine. If I remember right, I can't see the EA82 marks at all. 'Course my timeing could be way off too, just runs to nice for me to think so. Tim
  5. I've done the 5spd D/R swap into my EA81 Hatch, used the EA82 flywheel. If you've done this you know the timeing marks are off now. My question is, can I just find TDC and put a notch on the flywheel and use that to set my timeing???? Anyone else done this???? Thanks, Tim
  6. Okay, it's official, I am one of the dimmer stars in the sky.............I was looking around trying to find the relay, I pulled out the flash knob and my left turn signal came on. I turned off my blinker and tryed the flasher again, nothing. I looked at the arrow and it is push in to turn on. I thought, wouldn't it be funny it the E flasher was on a different fuse???? Well it is, and it was bad. I replaced it and now my flashers, horn and clock all work again and I have turn signals. Yea!!! Tim
  7. I lost all my turn signals and emergency flashers. Is the flasher relay on the inside under the dash on the fire wall??? I found the one on my Brat, are they in the same place??? It is a rectangle black box. The reason that I'm asking is there in some insulation in the Hatch that I don't want to remove unless I have to, it is aweful tight up in there and I can use all the good insulation I can get. Thanks, Tim
  8. The extra inch will level out the car with out cranking up the front struts, which in turn will wreck havok on your camber. go the 4/3 you won't be sorry. Tim
  9. Kens garage and side yard.........Oh and it's an "automotive recycling center" Welcome aboard. Tim
  10. Don't strip the whole car just yet!!! The connector is under the carpet where your feet are when you are sitting in the seat. You may need to pull the seat and the plastic trim piece that holds the carpet down. Then you will find the connections that I'm talking about. Tim
  11. Just a thought, did you have the tentioners changed with the T-belts??? A bad one will eat a belt if it freezes up. Hope you get it fixed, Tim
  12. I would suggest pulling up the passenger side carpet and looking for the hot wires that run under it to the windows. There is a one to three split that will corrod and not give you power. Later, Tim
  13. Must really suck to have a lathe......... . Looking good!!! Tim
  14. No promisses, but New Years day might work for us. But I was hoping for just a little bit of discretion to keep the riff raff out.....LOL
  15. I'm guessing tint of some sort??? Picture would be good. Where are you from?? Later, Tim
  16. First off check the glove box and any other hiddy holes you can find for the real tool. Then check and see if you can get it from The Pug dealer. That would be an awesome score, I love the way those look!!! Later, Tim
  17. Yeah, it's happened before................... Ex-wifes arm was in the way and it wouldn't shut all the way . Tim

Thanks for the idea Andy. Tim
  19. After wading through five tyre threads on one page I thought it would be nice to start a single thread to discuss our beloved Weber carbs:rolleyes: . Okay, I'll start....... My Weber works great, no hesitation, no sputtering, no dieseling on shut down etc etc. I do have two problems. No top end and poor milage (14.75mpg this time). I have re-installed the carbon can, it has a new cat, I re-jetted it (140/140 mains, 60/55 idle, 165/160 air correction), The plugs are not getting fouled infact they look just like they should. I have a Carter low pressure high flow fuel pump, the float is set right. I'm running the standard tall K&N fillter. The only thing I havn't done is a full rebuild. So any ideas that I can try??? Oh yeah, it is on 28/8.5/14 TSR Swampers with a D/R 5spd Thanks, Tim PS Please feel free to use this thread for all your Weber needs:)
  20. You've got to be sure they are put in right, I've broken one too but it was cocked a little. If you learn to shift with out the clutch it will save you a tow. Tim
