chef_tim replied to morgantruce's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
If I remember right both EA81s and 82s share a common rear bearing (please remember this is from memory, not what it used to be...LOL) Tim. -

That would be were the pin socket is used. Unless you have LOTS of time and patients and might be concidering replacing the ring nut, buy the tool. Money well spent. GD, are you sure your not thinking of the front bearings??? I've tried to find sealed rear bearings to no availe. I do however have after market sealed front bearings in two of my cars. Later, Tim -

chef_tim replied to overkiller's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Those should be about the same as a 205/75/14. They will NOT clear with out a bit of trim or lift. We have those on our 87 Wagon and a 3" lift and there is no rubbing or cutting. Later, Tim -

Andy your a hair off. The bearings use a race. That is what gets tapped in. It should not need to be frozen or heated. just use the old races to guide them in and to protect them from tapping. Buy the special tool, it is a "pin socket" if you do a search for that I bet you will come up with the link to one. The rear bearings are so easy it is funny. Do make sure to replace both the inner and outer seal (expressauto.com sells them as a set $48). Later, Tim -

Any interest in 14" Desert Rats ??
chef_tim replied to SubaRube's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
It all comes down to price. I'd say, just as an observation, that above the $50-$75 each range you are going to lose alot of intrest in them. I'd definately be interested, but price will drive my decision. Thanks for looking into these, Tim -
Where is my anti-freeze going?
chef_tim replied to MaroonDuneDoom's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I'm with CD, it will stop lossing AF when the level is lower then the hole. Becarefull of hot AF if you are wiggling the hoses looking for holes. Tim -
I'm running a 90 amp XT6 alt on this thing. Sounds like a great idea Mick, I know I can use all the electrical help I can get. Tim

I put the Carter fuel pump on today, it fired up and runs good, I did have to put on a regulator as it was running 5psi. Now the weird part. I wired it in to the existing Pump harnes, when I turn on the turn signel you can hear the pump draw down then back and then down with every blink. Do you suppose the new pump requires that much more power to run or what????? Please try and remember that I am an electrical 3rd grader so keep explanations simple with lots of detail:rolleyes: . I'm also thinking that my after market fans maybe doing the same thing, I just ran them to the existing wireing also. Thanks for any and all help. Tim
