Hey Paul! Not ignoring you...just haven't been on very much lately. Weekend of 10/2-3 is out for me. I have a club event on 10/2 and A Breast Cancer Benefit Car Show at Hammonasset State Park sponsored by the Ct Street Rod Association for breast cancer survivors on 10/3 (yeah, that's a plug for them) My wife has also talked me into going to a Ren. faire in Maryland on the 23rd so that weekend is out for me also. It'll be my first and no, I'm not wearing tights. The remaining weekends I'll have to check and see, but I know those two weekends are out. Lemme know -Louis-

I feel for ya Vicky. My wife got rear-ended in our new (6mos old) ForesterXT this a.m. on her way to work. It made a real mess of the frront end of the car that hit her. Bumper plastic broke and her headlights/blinkers got broken, but our Forester had almost no visible damage. I'm taking it to the dealer this week to make sure there is no hidden damage, but I think we lucked out. I have seen the Dent Wizard folks work near-miracles. As long as the metal isn't too deeply dented or creased, they can usually make it where you honestly can't see where the damage was. Good Luck! -Louis- '04 ForesterXT 5spd '91 Loyale 4wd 5spd Wagon

I second the helicoil idea. No flack to Tom, but I would get another gasket just because: A. The extra cost is worth the extra peace of mind. B. It's a turbo -Louis- '91 Loyale 4wd 5spd Wagon '04 Forester XT 5spd

Congratulations! My wife and I picked up our Forester XT (Black!) about two months ago. We made that "who would get the ticket first" bet. About two weeks later... she lost:lol: Enjoy! -Louis- '04 Forester XT 5spd '91 Loyale 4wd 5spd Wagon

Hehe. I can vouch for that (it's quicker than a WRX)...but I seem to recall something about Vicky not wanting a wagon. Too bad- it's one heck of a sleeper! The look on some ricers faces when they get spanked by a Forester wagon is just priceless.-Louis- '04 Forester XT 5spd '91 Loyale 4wd 5spd Wagon -

Have you tried a DIFFERENT battery? -Louis- '04 Forester XT 5spd '91 Loyale 4wd 5spd Wagon -
Capewaveride- A. It CAN be adjusted. There is an adjuster nut and locknut at the hill holder valve assembly in the engine compartment. B. Your dealer is a d****ss. Find another one. Adjusting this one is really no different than adjusting ones on all the other hill holder equipped Subarus built in the last thousand years. If they can't even fix this, I can't imagine you being happy with any other issues brought to their attention. Good Luck! -Louis- '04 Forester XT 5spd '91 Loyale 4wd 5spd Wagon

I had a great time. It was good to meet new people a re-aquaint with those I already met. The vehicles were awsome. A 360 van, a nice '78 wagon, lifted wagons and Brats, XTs and SVXs as well as the newest models. I've never been anywhere that had this kind of variety. The imagination, skill and ingenuity that went into the modifieds is amazing. There is definitely talent in this group. It was hard turning the Bratkart over to Skip after it had sat at my house (even though it was here only about a week or so). I was getting kind of used to having it around. It was a real hoot, though, to watch everybody zipping around the grounds in this tiny vehicle- just hilarious! Wish I had brought my camera:( Thanks to all who got the ball rolling/organized and made it happen. Hopefully, we'll be able to do it again next year! -Louis- '04 Forester XT '91 Loyale 4wd 5spd Wagon

I cast another vote for the ignition switch. If it happens again, with the engine still running, try wiggling the key in the switch (gently so you don't turn off the engine) and watch to see if anything starts to work. -Louis- -
Sorry I can't be of much help concerning any clutch issues or performance mods. We just bought an '04 Forester XT w/5spd a few weeks ago and have only a little over 1000miles on it. So far so good though However, I would like to say congratulations on the new car and welcome to USMB -Louis- '04 Forester XT 5spd '91 Loyale 4wd 5spd Wagon

Sure, good driving skills are important. In 25 years of driving, I never had a hill holder until this one. Believe me, it takes more skill to drive a vehicle with a misadjusted hill holder that won't release the brakes at the right point than one without hill holder at all. If I were the only one driving it I would consider disconnecting it. However, I will probably have it adjusted or adjust it myself. -Louis- '04 Forester XT 5spd '91 Loyale 4wd 5spd Wagon

You too, huh. I'm hoping mine is just misadjusted. It seems to me that it should disengage just as the clutch starts to grab. Mine doesn't disengage until the pedal is almost all the way up. It makes pulling away from a stop very difficult sometimes...especially for my wife who doesn't quite grasp the concept. We have both stalled the car on numerous occasions because of this. It's going to go back to the dealer ASAP for them to have a look. If they can't properly adjust it, I will see that it is disconnected one way or another. Otherwise, it has been a great car. I'll keep ya posted. -Louis- '04 Forester XT 5spd '91 Loyale 4wd 5spd Wagon
