Official Weber thread for OffRoad.........
coylethebarbarian replied to chef_tim's topic in Off Road
I've read through this post, and some of the links. I am new to carbs...my brat has a weber installed on it...has great gas milage-28mpg, but my engine "diesels" when shut off, I also lose power and the engine "misses" in damp and/or cold weather, especially on large hills. Here is my question, my weber says "DGAV33" (could be DGAV 38 if the stamps are on top of each other...but we'll go with the 33) Where do I find info, diagrams, parts for this weber? I have looked on the web and not had any luck today! Thanks -
Trust me, it only gets worse...I now can spot subarus through tree cover and behind garages like crazy....and each and every one I want to get, regardless of it's condition so I'll have parts or be able to salvage it one day....I just found a '78 or '79 Brat in a Junk Yard here and it is killing me....I need a garage! I am running out of places to put them and work on them...(Must find way to get that '79 Brat....must find way....)

How To Keep Your Subaru Alive pdf file
coylethebarbarian replied to baccaruda's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I've tried to download this PDF from all of the listed links...no luck, even when I did get one zip file it stated is was "not valid"...do not think it is my computer... How about sending me the email account you had created for this reason? I'll keep trying off of the other links as well. -
westfallia camper top on ea82?
coylethebarbarian replied to 4 arm boxer's topic in Subaru Transplants
Now this is a cool idea..I've been looking into various options for a Brat like this...There is a site that makes campers for smaller trucks, and they have "bare bones" shells that you can customize...I'll have to find the link later...they are rather expensive though. My though was pretty much like the westfallia idea on my Brat....need a place to sleep and keep gear....figured I could fashion a storage compartment the lengtht of the bed of the brat and mount the camper top onto it....just an idea... -
Parts List? An official parts list to your subaru? Where did you get it & how do I go about getting one for my subarus as well???

OK, so I know this post is several months old...but my point is, the search function actually works! I had been trying to find where to get bushings online with no definite luck...then I find this post.... Not too mention it fired me up to get to work on fixing my Brat!

Rust issues with rockers....yeah, my brat has rusted rockers, and do I dislike the idea of trying to fix them....this post caught my eye when I did a search...planning on asking "what's involved with repair on rockers?" or "any tips for repairing rusted rockers?" The rest of the rust, think I can handle...some welding here & there.... Any comments appreciated...

Thanks for the detailed info! I'm hitting a JY later this week, from what I have heard the guy has several subarus...so I am definitelly going to look for some "new" seats.....we'll see how it goes....

was this a difficult swap? The seats in my Brat are torn, and kind of flat in the seat...best way to describe it....I have been thinking of new seats, and am between swapping from another soob, or some racing style seats...

VW Scirocco/soob engine???
coylethebarbarian replied to coylethebarbarian's topic in Subaru Transplants
OK, the rust making cow piss thing got me, maybe it was the icon with the horse/cow? getting the crap beat out of it.... I am going to keep pestering this guy, he stated he "might sell it later", so I'll keep checking back with him....if I am lucky and snag it, I'll let you know! -
VW Scirocco/soob engine???
coylethebarbarian replied to coylethebarbarian's topic in Subaru Transplants
Well I finally got the guy on the phone who owns that rocco, his name is Gilbert...I had heard others had asked him about it in years past & he would not sell, but I had high hopes... The guy was older gentleman, nice enough, but he never would come out & say anything definite. When I kept coming back to the question of him selling the rocco, he simply said "I might be selling that later, you can check back with me then...." This of course, was the same answer I got no matter how long I talked with him...and finally a "yeah, those vw's like that are kinda rare aren't they?" Needless to say, I figured out within the first few minutes he was not going to sell but kept him talking anyway...even asked him about all the other cars I can see from the road on his farm...the hillsides are scattered with them. When asked if he sold those or parts from them, he said, "well, we usually only sell parts but I'm kinda tryin' to cut back for awhile..." What that meant I do not know exactly. Then when asked if he ever opened the gates & was around there for me to come and check out the cars his reply was, "naw, we're not out there too much..." He did ask me what I was looking for specifically...besides the rocco...when I told him subarus, this was the reply, "Naw, I don't think there are any subarus out there, let me think.....well no, I guess I would have to go look..." So, I just told the guy I would call him back at a later time. Gilbert was nice enough, just an old guy who seemed relaxed with his life & in no hurry or need to sell any parts or cars.... Oh, well.... :-\ -
