  1. What time are ya planning on getting there? How about around noon? Dummy say "Why???"
  2. That kind of fun has got to be good for John after friggin Iraq!! Happy to see you guys playing. No shovels, nothing? I'd try to drag you guys up to the hills this wekend, but Ken's gonna be having folks over on Saturday? for parts take aways I guess.
  3. I swapped out the hood for one without the scoop/vents. I couldn't see the point with no intercooler to cool. Everybody wanted to race with the scooped hood. Now they think I have a carbon fiber hood. lol Just happens to be black. (thanks again Corky) My old hood is for this year's rally x car. Haven't looked for damage. What could get hurt? And I heard what you said Clay. I told the same to the guys while I was up on the mountain. It's about time I got some photos of the Soobie off road so they won't think I've abandonded them. (or something like that) In the end, I totally made the right choice. I woulda been wishing for the Soob the whole time as I bounced along in the truck trying not to let my kidneys explode. I'm SO going back there. I'll put up a post in to see who or if anybody wants to follow.
  4. A shot from this a.m. with the mud good and dry.
  5. Look at that grin! The car loved it. It was really cold in the shade, guessing about 10 degrees or so. The mud on the tires and car froze in minutes, made pretty cool patterns.
  6. That's my hand, I can palm a basket ball. Thick ice! (well for around here anyways) So the Jeep tried it and managed to get his nose onto the other side before he got stuck. The Ford drove around to the other side and pulled him thru. So we took turns driving thru from the other side. I hammered it pretty hard, so my buddy didn't have time to get the best shots, but you get the idea.
  7. So there was a mudhole in this campground, (according to my buddy who'd been there before) but it was frozen over. So I decided to make a trail thru it with my imp. And ya know I only did it cuz Ausytin's been getting crazy in his and all I've had to show were poser photos of mine. Turns out, the ice was almost 3 inches thick. I didn't make it out the other side, but made it back out of the side I came in. These imps make better 4X's than I'd given them credit. The power to get those big tires spinning is pretty cool. It took several tries, both to get to the other side and to get back out. Forward and backward till the car stopped moving each time. No clutch stink!!
  8. I got invited to go up to the mountains with some buddys, West of North Bend. These are the same group I took to the cabin last time. It was their plan to camp, I just wanted to play for the day. They told me ahead of time there wouldn't be much hard core wheeling, just a lot of dirt roads. And yes there was. Forest roads, musta been 20 miles in 20 miles out. I did the right thing choosing to bring the OBS with the Kumhos on. I took the lead and played "Tortoise and the Hair" with them, flying off ht high speeds and stopping to wait. I'm getting pretty comfortable in the imps, and if not for blind corners casing me to be cautious of oncoming logging trucks, I think I found the best Rally Road I've ever been on. I spent many thoughts on how it woulda made agreat stage in the WRC. Eventually it lead to a Vally which produced a camp ground suitable. (you'll notice the jeep to the right, he's the one in the cabin photos getting pulled out. He got better tires)
  9. Who's the a-hole putting rabbit fingers behind those two poor guys?
  10. Peopel photos, people photos. . . If I break out group shots of cars, I'll use up all the bandwidth here and USMB.net. People, people.
  11. Here's some of mine from the years. This one I think is from 1997 or so. Maybe 96. My first trip to Evans Creek. All stock except for Todd's Brat that had bald 14s on it. My first Soobie Broup photo. Here's one from up on Evans Creek during our HP meet 4? years back. The same weekend.
  12. That was from reaching into the (nasty rump roast) water to put the chain on the tow hook. I was the only one who brought rubber boots. Took that pic of Austin too.
  13. So I'm not perfect. . . But you get my point. A search for Trails in the M&G brought up these. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/search.php?searchid=235104
  14. THIS HAS EVERYTHING TO DO WITH RETROFITTING!!! Including. Engine swap. Tranny swap. AND NOW SUSPENSION SWAP.
  15. I guess someone's been here for a year and hasn't got the jist of things. . .
  16. In 7 years of the show, we've only had one incident of theft. And that person felt so guitly they fessed up and returned what they had stolen.
  17. I'm on the way to Ed's, you can leave his stuff with me.
  18. I took that picture. . .
  19. Appreciated Miles. I'm working with someone who thinks they can put together a TSD rally.
  20. Scott, I know you're just goofing, but if you photo shopped it for how deep it really is there, the water would be up on your windshield. The Toy is sitting at the edge. There are ruts running down the middle. Me too. Although we already have video of us crossing it while it's much more shallow. This last weekend it was crazy deep! One big lake, I was hesitant to skirt the edge in my Toy, and the intake on it sits about at my chest level. (I'm 6'3)
  21. Couple of things I've found. . . Remember, all of my offroaders have been ea81s, but same thing in water pretty much. A simple red rag tied over the end of the intake on your air cleaner can do wonders. It will stop water once. Minimal water will get past it. If you have a weber, then a antifeeze container cut to fit with the opening in the rear will keep water out. Webers seem to be most affected by water that drips off of the hod after the fan belt throws it up there. I personally thing that using silicone on a Soob disty is a bad idea and I'll tell you why: The disty is warm. Water near it will condence to the inside of the disty whether there is silicone or not. Silicone will just make it more difficult to take the cap off. Keep plenty of paper towels or 7/11 napkins in your glove box. Wipe it out, go on. Slow even speed is a good thing too. And Scott, the water in the water hole at Reiters is DEEEEEEP!! The toyota in the photo below had hydrolocked his engine going thru the not so deep part. The yellw rig has 49s on it. They're under. To give you an idea of how big 49s are. . .
  22. East of Monroe on Highway 2. Google map of Goldbar might show it. If you show up stock, there's stuff for you to do, but the trail I found (and most of the ones we do for that matter) would be a little rough on your stock Soobie. Feel free to follow us up it, but you go last. lol
  23. The first time I went there, I got stuck in the same spot you did way back. The water was deeper and stuff, but yeah. I got pulled out by a Jeep. With a chick driving it. There's plenty that can still get me stuck there. I'm still open all the way around. . .
