Forester keeps up with trucks in the Snow
We went up yesterday and played in a couple of toys. At the end of the day, I got the impression the imp with its 27 inch kumhos could hang with the toy with skinny 32s in the conditions we were in. But once I deflated them down to 20 lbs, the Truck was pretty unstoppable. I was playing in some pretty deep stuff, really slushy icy stuff. No powder, that's for sure. I woulda taken pics, but the rain was coming down like cats and dogs, didn't wanna ruin the camera.

Who's Who Two (Roll call for lifted rigs)
I think he's talking about the gen one brat he unveiled a year and a half ago. . . lol

Anyone ever tip a soobie over ?
The after His roll bar saved him. He and the passenger were both wearing seatblets, they were fine. I was perched up on a bank to take photos as the soobs came up this bowl. He made it thru, but when he hit the top, his back end kicked over a little and he didn't correct enough. This sent his front end up the bank I was standing on. He hit the brakes when he thought he'd hit me. I actuall had my foot on his front bumper he came so close. After that, the brat rolled over. Ker thunk, ker thunk. Then all the stuff he had in the back came crashing down. We pulled it back over, cleaned the oil out of the air box, fired it up and continued.

Wear seatbelt while wheeling?
I always wear my seatbelt. Offroad or not. You guys are saying it like, "That chick looks clean, why wear a rubber? It's a pain to put on."

Anyone ever tip a soobie over ?
I can think of one off hand. Mudrat pulled him back over with his winch and he drove it back to Mt Vernon. After finishing the trail. We were at Evans Creek.

TSL Boots!!!
You'll have a hard time raining on the parade of a guy who's about to add Super Swampers to his Subaru. Now you have 3 pretty much full size spares. . . You're gonna dig the swampers, but they take some getting used to. You Soob will handle quite a bit differently. You are getting the bias ply ones right? They also have flat spots every morning that shake the hell out of ya for the first few blocks. But you and mud will get to be really good friends.

More snow fun
I think Ken would agree that they're pretty evenly matched. On and off road. I have better low end torque, so had an easier time at 3 grand in first, which is what we were forced to use towards where we turned back. Tires finally couldn't dig down and find dirt anymore. Don't think I woulda made it that far with any of my lifted ea81s. That 6 can't get away from the little 2.2. perfect power baby. I'm pretty happy with the kumhos.

More snow fun
Qman and I went up to the Index area and played in the snow today. Got pretty deep before we turned around, here's a couple shots from when we pulled over on the way up. Some wall paper from on the way out.

Snow Run...
I'm going up to the Index area tomorrow, but I'll be taking the Toy, looking for the deep stuff. FWD need not apply.

Sometimes? We as the Hatch Patrol showed up the same guys in their Super Huge Sammis 3 different times. First time, they came crawling up 311 at Evans Creek to find a stock GL wagon on 13s already at the top. Second time, me and Qman followed them up a pretty gnarly rock that they said we'd never make. Third time, we showed up at Evans Creek to see the biggest one on its side. I drove around them on the rocks that had caused it to fall over. Trust me, we let them know too. lol

Truth is, Austin's got all sorts of experience and skills when it comes to wheeling Soobs. Imagine how that jeep would perform if Austin were behind the wheel. . . I'm finding it out first hand with my Toy. I followed a group of Toys up a trail I'd never been up before. They were all at least locked in the rear, me open. I made it up with less struggle than they all did jsut for being able to pick a line and knowing when to gas and when to ease it. And Chux, I believe that the ejs have a VLSD in the center diff. They behave as if they are in 4wd when off road. Not once has any of my ejs ever only spun the front wheels. In fact, they tend to send more power to the rear. If you pop the clutch in the dirt, the rears will dig in more than the front.

Snoqualmie "imp"romptu
Bring tow straps, come-a-long, shovel, couple pieces of plywood and a jack at least. Oh, and a camera.

Snoqualmie "imp"romptu
Power is really something else. On one of our HP Xmas tree runs, I brought both the imp sedan and the lifted tan hatch. Imp had good year snow tires, the hatch cooper discoverers. I drove the hatch up, Sean drove the imp. Half way thru the day, we swapped cars. At the end of the day, we both agreed that the imp was way more capable than the hatch. Just having the power to push thru stuff was awesome. Speakin of the HP's Xmas tree run. . . 'bout time to get to organizing this year's.

Snoqualmie "imp"romptu
Probably not. I know enough to air my tires down. Don't worry, I'll be posting plenty of deep snow photos featuring my toy before the Winter is over. Mike, that's the road up to the snow park. Third exit, goes up parallel to I-90. The pic of my car is the spot we went up and barbq'd at a couple of years ago.

Snoqualmie "imp"romptu
Grabbed my Mom and my boy and headed to Snoqualmie. Snow got about a foot and a half deep at its worst. Beautiful day. Top of the hill. Took some work to get there. Pulled this guy out on the way back down. Told Mom, "Stand over there and take the photo. DOn't let him see the camera till I start pulling." Guy was embarrassed just a little. The little bit of clutch stink was worth it.

My impreza has new tires!
I guess I exagerated about how tall, but here they are side by side.

Saturday Fun!
Here's the latest "up"grade to his bumper. lol It can be tough following a toyota. We wound up out at the cabin last weekend after all. Maybe made David believe he hasn't really been wheeling yet. :-p
