How do YOU keep from smashing tail lights?
Trippy, you're one of the mellowest guys I've ever known.

How do YOU keep from smashing tail lights?
Those things are a false sense of security. If you hit something, you'll smash it into your tail light, and it will only be harder to change the tal light. And, notice how they always stick out on the the side, They'll just snag stuff as you go forward.

Offroad Subaru Clubs?
I really don't know of any "active" Soob Off Road clubs. The HP has been whittled down to like 4 local members, Tex, Turbone, Ken and myself. (hopefully Mike W will someday join us again in person and not just in spirit) I don't have any desire or plans to offroad a Soob ever again now that I have my Toy. But, we've always welcomed any body in any kind of rig into our club. I've even owned 2 Samurais in our 5 years or so as a club. Just because you don't see other kinds of 4Xs on the vids doesn't mean that they weren't with us. Truthfully though. The whole club thing kind of began to get on my nerves. Nobody has any kind of gumption to actually organize events, and only a few will actually commit to showing up. I've found that 2 or 3 is the ideal amount of rigs to have on a trail. More than that gets to be a pain in the rump roast, especially the new guys who come unprepared. ramble ramble blah blah. . .

I'm aware of what's around me and I don't back into stuff. I know where my car/truck fits.

Super Swamper Question
The little bit smaller Kumhos will be a lot easier to push up the pass. They'll do fine in the snow, especially just snowy highway. Swampers just plain kick rump roast, any terrain. But you pay for them.

Super Swamper Question
A 7 inch wheel is perfect for 9.50s. Just used that combo for my Toy. 32/9.50s on a 15X7 wheel.

Super Swamper Question
Being from Woodinville, having to travel to Tacoma wouldn't be worth the couple bucks saved. Sorry Ken. Get a price quote from Tirerack.com and any other on line tire store. Print it out, bring it to Discount Tires at Northgate. Ask for Eric or Sean. Tell them Eric with the Subarus told you. They will hook you up and work with you on the price. You'll have to be firm, they price match, but they also factor in the cost of mount/balance into the tire price. For example. I brought a quote of 73 bucks per Kumho. We sttled at about 90 bucks including shipping. Wound up being 400.38 for 4 mounted and balanced and tax. I'll let you borrow my receipt if ya like. Don't show them the quotes until you ask them if they price match. Kumho Ventures (27/8.50/14) are a pretty baddass tire too, for about 30 bucks less a tire. You can afford to buy 5 for the price of 4 swampers.

lifting an OBS ?
$700 is a LOT of money. . . What's the price of a Scorpion kit? Also, what's the difference? I thought they were basically the same 95-99. Do you just add on to the existing blocks on the Outback? I think the impreza would be pretty friggin similar, cuz just about everything is swappable as far as suspesion between an OB and an OBS. (imp 93-00, leg 95-99) If I were you, I'd contact Jamie Subiegal, she has a good bit of knowledge when it comes to parts interchangeability. (cool word ) She's modded a 96? Leg GT, 99? RS and now a GD style WRX. But, in the end, I wouldn't bother lifting my imp too high till there's Dual Ranges available for them. And I don't mean ea82 trannys jimmy rigged to fit an EJ either. I know first hand how hard it is for the stock tranny to turn 27's at slow speeds thru rough terrain and such.

Impreza, painted, snorkeled! pictures!
Awesome! Looks sweet Austin. Yellow wheels kick rump roast. Lose the yellow mirrors.

Attention NW Washington wheelers (time to pay the trails back)
Hey David. Did you get a good shot of me going thru that crazy stuff at that one trail head? Fun stuff making the open Toy do stuff that the bigger Toys with lockers were struggling with.

Plain Jane Baby. lol That was probably the coolest thing about having a hatch/brat lifted and on Swampers, the conversation piece. All day, I saw one other Toy with smaller tires than me. There were about 60 rigs in the parking lot by 9:30 a.m. 50 of them were Toyotas. It felt pretty cool to have one. I went out on a trail run with a group of carbed Toys, and when I opened the hood for a second, they surrounded me and gawked at my EFI. "You must love this truck" the one guy said as he hugged the hood. lol Here in this photo, I'm posing for the pic with it idling. (almost 45 degrees tilt) Your camo conversation piece woulda cut out. :-p Don't hate me bro.

Bummer. But that's warning enough for me to find someone else to ride shotgun.

I'll show up there if anybody else speaks up. Otherwise, see you at the parking lot. I'll be wearing something that says Subaru or Hatch Patrol on it. This is my Toy.

We really need to put together a weekend at Evans Creek. . . Come on Scott, give us a date you can make it down to EC for a weekend, we'll call it a plan. Plenty of various trails for various types of Soobs. From dirt roads for the imp types to gnarly rump roast trials that will break the baddest Soob you can put together. Camping, views. . .

The two are connected by highway, but who knows if there's a bus. Let's hope you score the Forester.

Called him, left a message with my # to call me if he's still got it. The answering machine leads me to believe it's a cell.

That's to discourage tourism. lol Once they come here, they never leave. Deception. Really is pretty simple and efficient. No really. You DO mean Anacortes and not Anacosta, right? As for rental cars, I wouldn't have a clue who to choose. You can also take an Amtrak to Anacortes. For cheap. Very scenic ride along the Sound in a comfy new 2 wheels per car coach. After that, a taxi (maybe a quick bus ride) to the ferry, walk on, and she could pick you up on the other side. But should you decide to buy the car or arrange to meet him on Friday, I can probably pick you up and take you to him. If you don't buy it. . . I'll be needing my late afternoon/evening to doll up the Toy for wheeling on Saturday.

RX has me on my last nerve... (UPDATE)

I'll call him today for ya. His # is a 206, so he should be pretty close to me. Have you got a ride from the Amtrak Friday?

Just do a search for Monroe. The Mikky D's is on the main drag, right on Highway 2 as it passes thru town. Your directions would go like this: Take I-5 north to Highway 2 East. Follow it to Monroe. If you wanna try to make it to the parking lot itself, that's easy too. Just continue on Highway 2 till you get to Start-up. About 1 mile out of town, look for "Reiter Rd." It's a left turn. Stay right at the fork, follow it thru some old growth and turn left into the parking lot. You'll know when you've made it, the lot will be buzzing with 4Xs and quads and motorcycles.
