  1. Nice pics all! Was GREAT seeing everybody again, and meeting some new friends. Cant wait till next year at Connie's. Jess says everything happens for a reason. Obviously, there are a few officials who dont handle jealousy well.
  2. Allright boys and girls! Last post before Carlisle! C YA THERE!
  3. It is POURING here today... mine is cleaner than it WAS. :-\
  4. I have decided to bring the BRAT muddy. Worst that can happen is I change my mind at the last moment and have to clog down the show and shine area with 50 LBS of northeast mud! ...Wont the Audi guys just LOVE me then.
  5. Connie, lookin GOOD! Oh, and just an FYI to all coming... Darlingchip and I scored some last minute boneless-skinless chicken fillets that we're gonna cook up and bring with us for Saturday lunch (or dinner?) We actually have about 6 or 7 good sized pieces... should be more than enough for the expected turnout. Anybody heard from the Whirly's? (Thinks of the sweet toolbox-grill)
  6. Heh heh... how about ZERO K? When I went to WalMart to pick up oil the other day, I almost grabbed the "high-mileage engine" oil out of habit Then I remembered... this is the FIRST OIL CHANGE! Damn you and your low-mileage CHASSIS though! Actually, I HAVE a set of REALLY decent engine mounts if you want em. Lemme know.
  7. I fit 29's on my BRAT... -4" lift -I had to cut the floorboards and re-weld.
  8. Thanks Connie! Jess and I have been talking about doing a hatch as the next project, actually. You dont want that Coupe going to my garage. Id throw in an EJ22T, the XT6 5spd AWD with diff lock, 5 lug swap it, and lower it. Sounds great you say? ....well, then youd be getting it BACK! Dont make me do it.
  9. Currently Im going with the 'ol Weber 32/36 DFAV, which is doing a fine job. Ive actually had it running for 3 days now. Put almost 300 miles on yesterday. Exhaust is 2 & 1/4" from the factory Y pipe cat(less) back. From 1700 - 3000 rpm there is a DEFINITE heavy power band where there previously was, um... nothing. Its a torque-y little sucker, lemme tell ya.
  10. Steve, I would be far more suspect of your control arm bushings. Check 'em!
  11. heh heh ... one clamp and the back half of my Brat's exhaust slides right off, thats all Im saying.
  12. Well folks, for those that dont know... its time to come clean with what Ive been doing all winter. Can we say performance build? HERE WE GO : Original EA81 out of my BRAT... YUCK! Tearin' it down... More teardown... Now for the hand-cleaning/POR15-ing of the steel parts. Case halves off to the machine shop... ...while I round up some EA82 SPFI pistons. Heads back from Jerry DeMoss... decked .030, ported and polished with a match-port intake. Crankshaft machined 10/10 with new ACL main and rod bearings. Case halves are back! Camshaft is back, with a DeltaCam torque-grind! Reassembly. Case halves back together. Install pistons. *Note the clearance, this is TDC* Heads on! Installing rockers and pushrods. Wheel 'er from the shed to the barn... (sweet, the engine gets to go wheeling before the brat!) Up in the air... install oil pump and filter, fill with oil... and drop er in. MAJOR thanks to Jerry DeMoss and Ken at DeltaCam for the help and great service! More pics to come... stay tuned.
  13. FOOD! (thought this would NEVER come up) Darlingchip and I will do our usual. We will bring: -Coleman stove -Coffee pot and fixins -Hotdogs and buns -Some bottled H2O -Gas grill from last year (I will make sure I have gas)
  14. That is dealership BS. They might have put conditioner in WITH the new coolant... but it does not contain conditioner.
  15. Ugh... that sucks Matt. My Baja took a WHOOPIN when I had it. Having the duster doesnt make you a yuppie. :-p ...just dont show up with a Datsun. FYI : I can BRING you a 5 gallon pail of mud.
  16. ....If only I lived where I had access to mud.
  17. Screw the clean up! Bring the Legacy, and bring it MUDDY! This year is our feature year after all... and although subaru IS an import, we are most CERTAINLY in a class all by ourselves. You'll have the Datsun yuppies next door with their California Car Dusters, and us with lift kits and MUD! I am REALLY thinking about bringing the BRAT caked with mud.
  18. we still see the OCCASIONAL car come back for a second helping of HGs, but it is OCCASIONAL. Part # SOA635071 $1.75 plus tax. I wonder how much the same stuff is with the Holts RAD-WELD sticker on it?
  19. Got my brat all together and registered! Drove it to work for the first time! ...all the subaru technicians are giving me compliments *basks in the subie goodness* .....Carlisle here we come!
  20. We had a thread on this last year I believe. For the record... I am not a fan of ABS either. It does ONE thing very well, and that is to allow a driver to maintain the ability to steer when they dont have the ability to control the brake pedal. It does NOT always allow you to stop FASTER. :-\ In NY state... your abs does NOT have to work to pass state inspection... Unhook it if you want... IF you are the only one who GUARANTEED will ever drive your car.
  21. I dont think there IS a GOOD answer to this. Subaru says to use it EVERY TIME you put a gallon of coolant in. We put the conditioner in everytime we do a HG job FYI. Everyone in the shop has about the same opinion... "not sure if it does any good, but it cant hurt"
