Any interest in a North East soob offroad meet?
75subie replied to 75subie's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
i`ve got a skid plate on mine already:D i don`t mind wrenching with you guys at the meet though:cool: i`m hoping my stinking tranny gets here soon, so i can actually make it to the meet. -
Suggestions on hatch (Now in my garage!!!!!)

yeah, plus you`ll have to pick up this fender or wait till july when i`ll hopefully be going to that meet...... -
i agree, the clear coat would be nifty:brow: almost too cool:cool: but if you miss a spot of bare metal, it will rust to crap in no time.....also if you already have rust, its tough to cover up bondo with clear;) the green makes it look like a beast, but its up to you what you want your car to look like. either way, i think its bad treatment for a brat seeing how rare and valuable they are.

its too bad you don`t live closer, i could hook you up with some steely wheels with good meats on them pretty cheap. when you first try to get it running, take the breather cover off with the 3 wing nuts, and spray the starting fluid right down into the primary chamber, then hold the gas to the floor to engage the choke. if everything else is up and up, i bet it`ll start well enough to pull up on the trailer. -

once you have one of those come alongs come apart on you, you'll realize what kind of dangerous tool they are:eek: i was winching a ford festiva up a hill once with one, and the pully holding the cable ripped off and smacked me in the chest, and lets just say that was not pleasant;) not to mention losing the car and wiping out your mother's fence... its up to you, they do rarely brake, so your odds are low, especially on flat pavement. pushing it would also be a pain because you can`t get momentum to good with flat tires. your best bet is to take the few minutes and try to get it running. even if its spitting and sputtering on 2 cylinders, and has 4 flats, you could still inch it up on the trailer in 4 lo. the best place to jack is right on the rails underneath, they are by far the strongest part of the unibody, as long as they are not rusted threw or are soft from rust. to jack up the back, just get a floor jack, and position it under the center pumpkin to lift both wheels at once....... -
sweet, looks just like mine! i put gen 1 mags on mine, so it's stance is a little wider:D
-
actually, i had told wayne a i wanted the rims weeks ago, so he called me once you had bought the brat. i figured that you probly wouldn`t want the trouble of boxing the rims.... i thought it was a pretty good deal, sorry if you thought otherwise........ Jon if i didn`t post it here, or sent you his contact info, it would have probly went to the scrap yard.
-
i`d glady pay 100 for it, even just for the parts.........
-
GET IT man!! please save it! if not, i`ll deliver my hatch to you and pick that one up:lol:

Junkyardbrat is looking great!! glad to see it went to a good owner. how are you liking my primer job on the nose:brow: i kinda miss that truck:slobber: those other wheels had some thicker meat on them, but they were not matching.... -
i can`t say i know much about beer, as its not my type of thing;) but, again, that sube is wicked:headbang: i never knew you could get that much flex out of one of these:D
-
awesome flex!! your friend must be nuts sticking his head so close to a wheel lifted a couple feet off the ground with a shaky ramp jack setup:lol:

New wagon! Woooh(56k, go grab dinner)
75subie replied to soobmater's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
schweet!! that thing almost made its way east with another board member (jeep5.9ltr) if i remember correctly, that was all rebuilt or something....... -
also, MAKE SURE you look over underneath it, the rails, and shock mounts especially, sometimes heavy undercoating will hide rusted areas underneath
-
doesn`t look like it would need much, 2 front fenders, rust repair on lower 1/4s, 4 tires, but i would almost put cash on it that the engine and drivetrain would just need minimal cleaning, and work to get them going, it appears they stopped driving it because of that hit. did they accept your offer?
-
i bet it probly was taken off the road because of that collision on the drivers side, even though it looks to be an easy fix. that hatch definatly is saveable!! would be a great project!

yeah, definatly start low, like 1-200, then work up to around $400, if needed, but i wouldn`t go a whole lot higher. the fenders, rockers, and quarters are just cosmetics, make sure the unibody rails, shock mounts, and strut towers are all solid, that is what really matters for a beater. i bet the tires would pump right up, they are probly just flat from sitting. bring a jumper and some starting fluid if you do buy it, cause usually these ea81s crank right up, or usually its an easy fix to get one running. whatever you do, make sure you have a solid ride for the offroad meet! -

9-10am at paragon is fine for me i will be going to harry's after the meet, and then heading home after a dinner stop, probably late at night. i wish i could offer for people to stay in or camp out at my house, but i seriously have no spare rooms, currently my house is TOO full:lol: there are plenty of camp grounds around my house though, and there is even some great fishing 15 mins from my house, with a campground next door. i went 2 days ago and got 53 fish in 4 hours. there were some huge crappies, sunnies, pikeral, etc. i`m in for a convoy! group rate would be awesome! i`ll look around for that info. the CB idea sounds cool also, i`ll look for a cheap one soon! -
