  3. i drive an '89 rx with an ea82t powering it. the temp gauge in the dashboard sometimes goes up. ormally i could add some water and all was fine. now the temp gauge goes up really far but not past the red. some one told me to take the rad. cap off. it worked for a short trip home. i then put more water it her put the cap back on and went out on the highway. the temp gauge went way up. i pulled over and took the cap off and BOOSHHH, coolant everywhere, up from the filler tube. as i let it run and added more water it would go in and then boil over, again and again more than a gallon. the temp gauge went down some but not to normal settings. ANYONE HELP PLEASE. is this the thermostat? or is the radiator clogged? or could it be the head gasket? btw she uses oil also. no water in the oil though, but oil in the water???????
  4. my clock flashes bright then dim any one know what causes that?
  5. perhaps GD could help me out here...but i think a leone is the overseas name for a loyale.?
  6. someone please correct me if i am wrong, but i believe that the ford festiva uses the same bolt pattern as the justy, as well as other parts.
  7. caboobaroo is selling a d/r 5sp tranny in the marketplace right now
  8. you might try putting some dessicant into the light, it's the little packs you find in sneaker boxes and nail boxes or anything else that needs to stay dry during shipping. just open the little paper envelope and put a few grains in the light enclosure. as long as there are no cracks it should eliminate any fogging.
  9. please check this it helped me with the timing of my rx. go to http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=50768 if that link dosen't work it is in ultimate subaru repair manual- engine-timing belt procedure ea82. i hope this helps and i'd like to thank miles fox for this info i'd be parked without it.
  10. when in doubt check out the USRM on this site. it helped me out a great deal when i had trouble with my timing.
  11. yeah he is, and he's selling the rx. by the way it looks great tex, i'd buy it but im almost 3k mi. away. $
  12. so let me get this straight .. the timing notches in the timing belt cover are at twelve o'clock. and the order is 1324. and the #1 spot on the disty is at the back closest to the brake booster ...
  13. the inner cover looked like a melted candle at the bottom of the block. it is no longer present. i had to scrape it of the engine
  14. my ea82t rx overheated a while ago. upon removal of the engine i realized that i need a new timing belt idler pulley. this shredded the timing belt.and that over heated the engine. i replaced both belts and pulley and reinstalled the engine but it would not fire. the left side cam gear was wobling slightly so i assumed the worst, a broken cam. after pulling the engine a second time and checking the valve cover the cam is fine. Does anyone out there know these three things and any other advice would be appreciated. 1. where are the timing marks on the covers. 2. how do i set the timing without the covers.(they melted off) 3. what is the firing order of the engine. thanks, jay
  15. Anyone know what tranny an EJ20TT engine will mate up to? I found an engine designation page somewhere on the usmb, but no mention of this engine. I have been thinking of modifing my EA82T into a TT but the discovery fo the EJ20TT does all the work for me. Now I need to mate it to an AWD 5spd. and shove it in my RX. Any thoughts???
  16. i also have problems w/ my ea82t. i was experiencing oil droplets in the coolant overflo container but nothing worth stopping over. but then a broken idler pulley forced me to pull it. What should I check for these oil drops while it is out??? P.S physically everything seems fine outside. oh yeah, also a blown turbo cooling inlet hose had gone a few months earlier. anyone with turbo ea82 experience out there. suggestions please... quick..
  17. my 89 rx(ea82t) was doin' 'bout 90 mph when all of a sudden.. nothing. now i'm trying to figure if it is just the timing belt or.. something more. The turbine housing was really really hot after. Anyone, advice please.
  18. i would also like to know if i can eliminate these hoses. Unforutunately I have been forced to pull my engine and I would rather not put all of these hoses back. (not that I haven't labeled them.)
