door help...
Some time ago someone replaced the driver side doors on my 84 offroad wagon. They had rusted through the bottom edge, and then had aluminum siding riveted to the remaining metal to cover the holes.A buddy gave me a parts car that was pretty straight. So I took the driver side doors off as well as the right front fender because mine was smashed/MIA. The problem is that both doors off the parts car need some work. The driver's door needs the linkages hooked up so the outside handle works, and the rear door needs the glass replaced. How do I pull the trim pieces off of both doors to get to the internals without breaking stuff (doors are manual windows)? Also what is the best way to change the change the glass in the rear doors of a wagon? Thanks in advance,Just wish it wasnt so blooming hot outside..

worth it?
problem is the 4 carbs would be the cheapest because the parts would be free.Just the set up and tuning would be difficult.Although I suppose because of the intake design a dual carb setup would work better.SPFI would be second cheapest,ej would be the best, but the most expensive. phizinza do you have any pics of the dual carb setup?what carbs etc?

worth it?
I was almost considering setting up 4 500CC motor cycle carbs on the thing. Then I relealized how much of a pain it would be to set the carbs up... bad things happen when you are in your friends shop with LOTS of misc parts..

but it can also give the option of using the torque of the engine to better get over something.Rather than the low powered approach of dropping the clutch and hoping for best... besides didnt you say some time ago "with the EA81 and a welded diff I needed lots of throttle to get over something, with the EJ I can just about idle up it" or something to that effect.I believe it was shortly after you finished your EJ swap into your red brat? more power doesnt increase breakage by itself, but combine that with more throttle...Or in my case a lack of power, lack of traction+ full throttle+momentum approaches= lots broken parts...

suspension ride hieght adjust?
look at your front struts, there should be 2 adjusting nuts at the base of the spring perch.Crank those up and you can get about 1.5" lift in the front. Flip your rear seat forward. Under where the seat would be in the middle is a large plug.Remove that, and you will find a nut below that.Crank that up to lift the rear about 2". make sure to lift the car off the ground when doing the adjustments.

I hate carbs. A weber works fine on the street but I like to climb steep hills and such...

09 Thread. Let's see your CURRENT lifted Soob.
heres a pic of my lifted roo after some mudding. It seems I might have picked up a nail and had a small leak.Thats why the tire is flat. And the mud was hosed off.. http://s109.photobucket.com/albums/n45/Uberoo/Subaru%20stuff/?action=view¤t=DSCF0024.jpg 1984 Subaru GL 2" lift 235/75/15s stripped interior had roof lights but they got broken off..

worth it?
my 84 GL is gutless right now. Between the 235's and the messed up craptachi it can barely get out of its way.So it needs more power. I was thinking SPFI conversion or ej22. I put this in the offroad section because it mostly pertains to offroading. How much power will the SPFI conversion help offroad? Will it be very noticable or just a little bit more pep? I know its alot cheaper to go SPFI and that helps because money is almost non existant right now,But I also know that the EJ swap would give more power than I would know what do with. The EJ is much more expensive because I would want to hear the engine run before it was pulled so a cheap parts legacy would be in order. Would it make much sense to convert to SPFI now then 6 months to a year from now convert to ej?Or would I better off just dealing with piss poor power and not so stellar mpg(about 17-20 with out the 235's) until I can save up for the EJ?

snorkel and other bits
If the cap is sealed with a bottom vent, wouldnt that create an airbubble at the top of the disty?Even with the car underwater? Remember the upside down glass in water experiment?
-
snorkel and other bits
so where is that vent hole?
-
snorkel and other bits
could I run a bead of dielectric grease along the bottom of the cap to help seal it or would that really do anything?

impromtu offroad
Now I need to go fix that tire, get some dielectric grease and some garden edging...among other things...

Does the EA-81 have the power to push a 5 speed?
cant you just stick a Ea81 in there and pay the smog guy like 20 bucks so he looks the other way?
-
snorkel and other bits
Is there a way that I can make a snorkel out of the factory airbox on an ea81? Or something that will connect to the carb?On the cheap? Also does anyone have any tips on how to protect the disty from getting wet?

impromtu offroad
A friend gave me a set of 235/75/15 tires.friday/early morning saterday was spent fitting the tires and drilling some rims.Once they were on my friend and I thought it would be great to go play abit. Why not, we were only like 7 miles from the area where we go offroading. So we went and gassed up. Him in his ranger with 36" bald superswampers and me with 3 mixed allterrains and one worn out mud tire. So we drive to where we go mudding at and my friend tells me to lead because its easy to pull the roo out but not his ranger. Ok, right off the bat I drive into a big mud hole/puddle etc just a little to fast. The subaru stalled and water/mud starting pouring in.The water level was about 2" up the back of my chair. so we go and pull the subaru out. We let it drain all of the water out of the interior and fire it up. Before we left to go play I probally should have wired the radiator fan to a switch instead of straight to the battery,oh well, I have a couple parts cars. The fan was toasted.Amazingly the car didnt overheat or get much warmer than what it normally runs at,even without a fan at those slow speeds. I am not sure why the car stalled in that first mud hole because it fired right up after the interior drained(all of the body drain holes where allready unplugged except the drivers and passenger side front footwells, oops). So then we drove through a few misc mudholes that arnt worthy of mention.Evetually we find ourselves in a nice meadow with some pretty well established mud holes.I set out hammering my rear fenders because they were rubbing a bit.My friend decides to go and play in one of the mud holes. he gets stuck when his front diff started plowing dirt. After I got finished fender clearancing (thank god I had my 10 lb hammer ) I tried to help him get unstuck. Try as I might I just couldnt budge the stupid thing. One jerk ripped one of my rear tow hooks/loops off. After that I decided that I was gonna just go and get one of our friends to help pull it out. I left them a small shovel and made my way back the way we came, avoiding the deep spots of various mud holes and moving at a pretty fast clip. I got out to the main road and started driving towards my friends house. I got maybe a block when I saw a superduty with argressive tires hauling firewood. I stop and flag him down. Then I told him the story then eventually I guided him to my friend. in my haste the coolant disappeared somehow or an air pocket formed. So my car started to run a bit rough. I shut her down worried that I toasted the motor. We let it cool down and put some water in the thing. she seemed to run fine so we went and played some more after my friend got unstuck. She ran fine the entire day and didnt loose any coolant so not sure what happened other than my old radiator falling out of its mounts. I used a rachet strap and a bungie cord to hold my radiator in for the rest of the day. It seems that some of the holes were just a little bit rough. I managed to brake one of my cheapo walmart lights from the abuse, even though it never got directly hit.My driver side mirror also fell off.As did my muffler.I think I will replace it with a glasspack... I need better tires ASAP because full throttle in the mud holes seems to break alot of stuff.Towards the end of the day the driver side front CV let go.Thankfully it stayed in the cup allowing me to get home. It seems I might need to do some things before I head out again: Finish removing ALL of the carpet out of the car so that way it can drain Find new radiator fan, wire it to SWITCH!! Securely mount radiator, 25 year old soldering does not hold the radiator. Need to weld up the rear diff. Waterproof the engine and electronics, so it wont stall out as soon. Replace left front CV Find some 235 mud tires. Bring towels in waterproof baggies to put over the seat so its not so wet.Maybe wrap seat in plastic? Things that might be nice to add: muffler garden edgeing fender flares put right front fender back on( I took it off because It was smashed, I have a parts car with a straightish fender just couldnt get to it because its on a friends property but he wasnt there... Stronger more durable lights(metal) CB radio-maybe some sort of radio would be nice.Might see if I can find a waterproof portable sterio and wire it to the car...maybe... MORE POWER!!!! with the 235's it is very gutless.. DAMAGE REPORT: Left front CV One rear tow hook set of cheapo offroad lights my mirror muffler smashed off radiator fan sorry about the book. Pics will be along soon.Just have to recharge my camera's battery.

1987 Nissan Pulsar NX help
My friend has an 1987 nissan pulsar NX with an automatic and throttle body fuel injection. The car runs great when its cold but when it warms up it loses all power. You can rev the car in neutral like its nothing.Ive tried to replace the O2 sensor but it didnt change anything. Playing around by holding the car in gear the car runs great below 3.5K after that it drops to 2K and will struggle to accerate. Anyone have any ideas? the head was recently off but the car runs great other wise so I don't believe it has a cam timing issue. It idles at 1K rpm smoothly.Does anyone know how to check the computer codes.
