i have a problem with the legacy and i'm stumped. went to leave work today and when i fired it up it began to run really rough. the check engine light also came on. so i drove it home and it's low on power and sputtering badly. so i had to keep the rpm's up to get it to highway speed. got it home and pulled the codes and i got this 11- crank sensor 14- injector 1 15- injector 2 16- injector 3 24- air control valve i disconnected the battery to reset and without even starting the car i still get the same codes what i don't get is it ran fine up to the point when i shut it off this morning and now its acting like this. anyone have an idea about this?

anyone that has these tires how do you like them? i'm thinking of getting a set for my wrx size 205/55-16. tirerack says they look directional but aren't and can be mounted either way but my girlfriends moms legacy has a set of hri's (tread looks the same) and they say OUTSIDE on the one side of the tire and the tire shop mounted them with that side facing out but the one side of the car has the tread facing opposite of the other side and the tire shop said this is how they go. i don't think it looks right. any thoughts?

with the 28" tire and outback struts do the tires rub anywhere. my 90 legacy has 205/75-15's on it and they measure a little over 26" tall and they are very close to the rocker panels on the rear

last week i got a letter in the mail saying their was a recall on my car. it said the fuel hoses could leak in cold weather causing a fuel smell inside the car. so i took it down and got it back today. when i got their they were closing and i got their just in time. when i went up the road i noticed that the turbo was very quiet i almost thought it wasn't even spinning but my boost gauge read normal. before i took it their it has always made a whinding noise that got louder as the boost increased. i always thought it was normal and it has sounded the same the whole time i've owned it (almost a year) and was in part caused by the short ram intake on it. this is what i was told when i got it. and i liked the sound it made. now my question is did they do somthing they werent supposed to do or was the whinding noise not normal and was fixed by the dealer when they had it apart. which i think is unlikely because i brobably would have been told about it. anyone have any ideas on this?

went up on the mountain today for a ride and took a few vids and pics. http://i295.photobucket.com/albums/mm132/pamike/offroad/SANY0509.jpg http://i295.photobucket.com/albums/mm132/pamike/offroad/SANY0508.jpg http://s295.photobucket.com/albums/mm132/pamike/offroad/?action=view¤t=SANY0506.flv http://s295.photobucket.com/albums/mm132/pamike/offroad/?action=view¤t=SANY0507.flv http://s295.photobucket.com/albums/mm132/pamike/offroad/?action=view¤t=SANY0512.flv

when i push the buttons to change from one setting to another for example defrost to vent nothing happens. i searched and found that the soldered connections on the back of the unit can cause this problem. but when i press the defrost or defrost/heat button the fans turn on. and when any button is pressed i can hear a clicking like a relay from the fuse box area. does this mean that my controls are working and my problem is elsewhere or can the connections still be the problem. because this makes my think my buttons are working. anyone have any ideas.

parts that need replaced that i know of are, headlights, grill, hood, radiator and ac condenser, fans, fender, charcoal canister the hood latch is pushed back pretty far. a freind of mine looked at it and did get the hood open after jumping on it. he's the one that sugested it would be better to replace the core support. i know for a fact he has all the tools needed for the job but i'll say somthing to him and see if we can just bend this one back. it would save some money not having to get another one. the local subaru place said they have a parts car and it might even be the same color. if you were closer i would get the parts from you. that gt hood would look good on this car. if theirs any parts we can't find i'll let you know.

the local subaru place has a car just like this one and we are getting all the parts we should need including cutting out and replacing core support. with the exception of the radiator. still need to find a good used one, trying to keep the cost down as low as possable. a friend of mine is good at fixing things, he's sure he can get it looking good again.

most of the impact was in the center of the hood and grill area. it was dark out so i can't say for sure what damage was done to the fenders and bumper. but the hood latch area was definitly pushed back. headlights were still in one piece but pushed inward. i could see the front of the engine and the fans were against the motor. the grill is laying down behind the bumper in front of the radiator. the good news is they went back and got the deer. it was a 7 point buck. and they will be eating him for dinner. but i will definitly post pics tonight or tomorrow morning.

my girlfriends mom has a 96 legacy ls. she hit a deer last night. it looks like the hood/grill took most of the impact. the airbags didn't pop and the front bumper looks ok. it was dark out so i could see it real good but it looks like it pushed the radiator and fans into the front of the engine. it was not leaking coolant and was drivable. i should be able to post pics by tomorrow morning. let my know if you guys think it's worth fixing. it is a very nice car no rust and if it is fixable i think it would be worth doing. she likes the hoods off the outbacks with the scoop. would a 96-99 hood bolt on without any mods. would any other parts fit like grill, fenders, bumper. i am asking because the local junkyard did have an outback with good parts.

i just noticed yesterday that when the car has been ran and sets for a little bit it is somtimes takes a while to get it to restart. it took about 15-20 seconds of cranking to get it to start but after that it runs fine. when it's cold theirs no problem. my girlfriend is the one who usually drives it so i asked her about it and she said it's done it a few times for her also but she never told me about it because she thought i allready knew about it. i had another legacy with the same problem only it would do it when the car was cold and only on hot days. i never did figure that one out.

it has a boost gauge. it also has a jvc touch screen stereo that does about everything you could think of. 113,000 miles, trans and clutch seem to be very good. allthough the dealer had no info on the clutch and didn't know if it was ever changed. so i spent a little extra and got the extended warranty. but the salesman that worked their told me it was his brothers car and he would get in touch with him and let me know about the clutch, timing belt, etc. the front bumper has paint coming off in a few spots so i gotta take it back somtime in july and they are gonna have the bumper repainted. i also told them it might need new brakes so they are gonna put new ones on if needed. i probably won't have the extra money for any mods for a while. but lowering it would be cool -
i may have a chance to pick up a turbo legacy. the guy said it was running fine and he went to start it and now i doesn't start. he said it's not fireing. where would be a good place to start looking. i found out yesterday that when it didn't start it was towed about 20 miles on a dolly with rear wheels on the ground. he said it's a 5 speed awd. when i told him he can't tow it like that he said he was told it would be ok. what kind of damage was probably done. it has a flawless body and if it now needs a trans. i may be able to get it cheap. are the transmissions the same as the n/a cars of the same year.
