VF11 vs TD04
AND if you use a td04 it should be easier to plumb in a wrx ic should you decide to go intercooled!

Idle adjust on ea82T
on the back, at the base of the TB, there is an adjustment screw that faces up. turn it a lil bit, then goose the throttle and see if it idles where you like it after the adjustment.

CF Hood Interest
the problem with the hood scoop is these cars came non-intercooled. so the ic'ed people who want the scoop for the functionality wont necessarily get good airflow through the ic due to a wide variety of intercoolers and plumbing.

Anyone ever use
i think theres a voltage issue with older subes. our maf is 12v and the safc is 5v or vise versa? its something along those lines. check in retrofitting too.

1988 1800 RX Turbo
er, i dont think that would be good if you still have cats and the o2 sensor (that is if 119 is leaded). i think sonoco makes a 100 or 101 octane.

wagon woes...
dont get me wrong folks, i still have a blast driving the car. its just not quite as much fun as it used to be. its got a bit of sentimental value now (my first subaru, first 5 speed, first turbo car) and i seem to be caught up in trying to preserve it as opposed to driving the hell out of it.

saab intercooler question
i wouldnt funk with the hose routing. if youre concerned about pressure drop, invest in a boost controller.

wagon woes...
ignorance truely is bliss. ive reached a point where ive realized that i will never be able to truely rally the buggy. for those of you unfamiliar with the car, its an 89 gl-10 turbo wagon. 5mt w/FT4wd, center lock, etc. the car is too old, and im a noob mechanic at best. there is virtually no aftermarket for these older cars as far as performance goes. the car would need mucho work if it were to see any more enthusiastic driving. ive rallycrossed the car once, and otherwise just bomb mountain roads. most of the rallycrosses close to me involve a few hours of driving, and im concerned about the reliablility of the car. i dont want a t-belt or an axle going out on me on the highway. right now, the car could use a new set of t-belts, a new radiator, shifter bushing needs fixed, intercooler needs to be installed, possibly needs a new clutch, maybe an axle, engine probably needs a new set of rings, and the suspension is crap. i dont have the time/money/skill to fix that stuff on my own. :-\ whats worse is i dont think i could sell it as it sits. its got racing seats, the passenger compartment is gutted from the dash back, radio replaced with a gauge panel, a/c was removed, sunroof was taken out and welded shut (and today i found out it leaks ), and theres various other things that make it not so daily driver friendly. its not much of a looker. i thought of parting it out, but again, im green, so i have a hard time of telling what parts would be salvagable. at this point i really have no idea what i should do with the buggy. if youve made it this far through my poorly punctuated/spelled rant, perhaps you could offer some advise? TIA, john (yes, i am the jackass in front of the wagon)

if you arent already, make sure you use only premium fuel (91 octane and up) or race gas! dont think youll have to worry about boosting too much unless youve installed a boost controller. the fuel cut will let you know when youve gone past the cars limits. make sure a boost gauge is installed to keep tabs on things.

youre very welcome, paul. im just glad that someone has made use of that stuff instead of letting it rust away to nothing in that barn.

Hey everyone
look into finding some 15" peugeot wheels. theyre the only other 'bolt on' wheel option we have!
-
Newbie Intro:
welcome! another thing to keep your eyes on is the fender wells. rust is the biggest killer of these cars.

North East Offroad Subi Meet: July 15th, @ Paragon
no low range or torque. :-\

Cone Air Filter
i made my own cold air intake after deciding it wasnt good for the car to be sucking in all that hot air from the engine bay.

North East Offroad Subi Meet: July 15th, @ Paragon

changed thermostat, rough idle
did you make sure the hose between the 4wd plenum and the aav/iacv (the doohicky on top of the thermostat) is good and tight w/ no leaks?
-
Frederick, Maryland, anyone?
heh, thats what makes rally one of the more 'interactive' motorsports
-
Cone Air Filter
wheres the fun in that? my wagon sounds like a mini tractor trailer

Frederick, Maryland, anyone?
yeah, a muddy road at STPR ripped his fuel pump off. and helped me burn my clutch up some too...
