Transmission swap done.. but have problems..help
subieman replied to subieman's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXYes, it fit with no problems Interesting concept with the speed sensor though. With the 95 computer the At Oil Temp light would flash really fast. And the tranny would not shift out of 1st unless I manually put the shifter into 2nd. With the 90 computer I get the power light doing it's 16 flashes at start up. I'll check those codes as soon as I connect the manual button back up. Thanks for the link.

Transmission swap done.. but have problems..help
subieman replied to subieman's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThe 95 tranny plugged right into the stock wiring harness on my 90. But I don't have the schematic for the wiring. Looks like I'll have to find that. Josh do you happen to have those scanned? Nipper some of the questions you asked were already answered in my first post. Fwd fuse does nothing Tires are the same Reverse lights work only in reverse 95 had a electronic speedo and the 90 is cable driven Tired TCU from donor car. Did not help Rear diff is fine Wires crossed? Quite possible! Thanks for the help Nipper. I'll get right on some of your suggestions. Looks like I have some wiring issues to figure out. Jeremy

Transmission swap done.. but have problems..help
I have a 1990 Legacy L with a bad AWD automatic tranny. So I found a 95 Legacy LSI donor car. The donor cars transmission was flawless. No torque bind, shifted fine, etc... I confirmed the final drive ratio for the two years to both be 4.11. So I installed the transmission into my 90. Started it up, runs, shifts good, but I'm having rear end problems. Any slight corner the rear end binds. If I floor it on the grass in a straight line the rear end will chatter. I installed the FWD fuse and it stays in AWD, and the symptoms persist. So I thought maybe the computer was different. I put the 95 computer into the 90... that made it worse and won't shift out of 1st. Maybe there is a separate control module I don't know of that needs to be swapped. I thought maybe the rear ratio was wrong so I swapped in a 3.9 just for the heck of it. That was even worse. So I'm at a loss. I'm growing tired of working on this thing. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks Jeremy

Reno/Tahoe/Truckee are just packed with Subaru's. You are almost guaranteed to see one of every make/model up there. Nevada City and most of the small towns in Northern California you see a whole bunch too.

Nevada - California Caravan To WCSS8
We love the show. Theres really nothing like it around here. Its great to meet new people and we love the beautiful drive to the PNW. It will be a shame I might miss it.. but I will try my hardest to free myself. Dave, you mean it will eat ALL my personal time! haha:-\ Scott will not make it up this year. (Not enough vacation time) Shawn is still open though and I think hes gonna come up if I go.

Nevada - California Caravan To WCSS8
I dunno if I will make it this year. The new business will be opening about that same week. Plus its a real drag to drive a 22 year old car up there. (might be for sale soon) I'll drive my legacy but thats no fun in the mud pit. We will see....

subieman replied to Subieguy's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXLooks nice. One thing I noticed is the HP rating for the specB and STI went down 7hp

What the final gear ratio on a 95 Legacy LSI?
subieman replied to subieman's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXHaha.. oh boy.. this info is hard to find! went to Legacy Central and got a rude comment about searching. I have... but to no end.... oh well.. Since I do have binding I will change out the diff anyway and hope it fixes my problem.

What the final gear ratio on a 95 Legacy LSI?
subieman replied to subieman's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXDang can't find it. I installed the tranny and I'm getting a lot of binding in the rear. So guess the ratios are not the same. The transmission is from a 1995 Legacy LSI auto and it was put in a 90 Legacy L auto. There is a sticker on the rear diff of the 90 4.11 but no sticker on the 95... figures.....

Help, need to fix tranny filler pipe!
subieman replied to subieman's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThe transmission install when sooo smoothly this time, but I still think this car is jinxed. haha What if I just use a rubber plug? Fill the fluid to the proper level and then just plug the hole up? I'll have to get under the car and take out the plug every time I wanna check the fluid level... but thats ok. I never thought about dropping the pan. Thanks for the heads up! Oh and yes the o ring was there. First thing I checked!

Help, need to fix tranny filler pipe!
I just replaced my transmission in my 90 Legacy today. I went to fill it up with ATF and noticed a puddle of fluid on the ground. It was leaking from where the filler pipe enters the tranny. I figured I did not tighten down that one little bolt enough, so I torqued on it and the head broke off. Hum.. so now that I broke the one and only bolt that keeps things from leaking.... how would I fix this? I can't get a drill up in there to drill out the broken bolt. And I'm not about to drop the transmission again. Is there something I can use like JB weld to seal it up? Please help! Thanks, Jeremy:)
