Any and all Arizona subaru owners and Southern Cali post here
i'd like to get a pheonix get together going after all the little quirks are worked out of my car. so i feel safe enough to drive to pheonix. especially since most of you seem to be closer to phoenix. if any want to go wheeling also i could locate easier trails in that area to play on. so scooby, what are you taking at UTI. i was gonna go there before i went in the corp, for automotive technician. now i'm an avionics tech. but couldn't afford 28,000 dollars of debt. so i joined the corp. and might use my 50,000 dollar gi bill and go there when i get out. but really want to get out of AZ. i have at least 3 and a half years left in the corp. i've completed about a year and a half so far out of 5 yrs. tell me when and where you'd like to get a meet and greet together, and i'll start planning. and if anyone wants to go on some easy trails let me know i got a book with a bounch of trails a few miles away from pheonix.

lil' Roo's Old Age slowly creeps up...
well i believe the other wheel bearing has gone now. loud scratch scratch pop pop sound. yeah!! and if you look out the driver's side window. you can almost see everytime there's a pop sound the wheel go in and out... i think the grease just got old and died, then burned the bearing out. still got to check and make sure that it is the bearing. but pretty sure. also found the reason the horn isn't working. there's an open in the ground wire somewhere in the wiring bundle... so i'll be routing a new wire this weekend. so i'll finally will have a horn again. Then verified that the ignition switch is fried open, when in the on position. no pwr going to the coil. so that's why i've had to hot wire my coil straight to the batt to get her to run. it wasn't a bad wire. i'll probably start to run all new wiring to the most important things. i.e. lights, ignition, alternator... also convert the alt. to internally regulated instead of externally regulated. then make wire markers so that i know where they go... i've already rewired the cooling fans. come to find out there was a open in the automatic fan turn on gnd wire. so i've rewired them through 30amp relays and through a toggle switch in the cab so i can turn them on, off, and automatic. Also going to go get inch or inch and a 1/2 square tubing and lift the rear of the hood. so that it's sort of a cowl induct hood. and more of the hot air escapes out of the back. too hot in AZ. and also complement with hood pins on the front. do to the fact the latch sucks. who know's what else will creep up on me. guess i'll find out soon enough. she's just getting to the age of needing extra extra TLC.

8" lift done!! pics of travel and car!!
it's heaven offroad!! steep grades in low low, no brakes required!! it made the laguna mountain ridge trail a lot easier. no downhill screaming along side 2 cliffs/steep edges! especially in rocks too!! that whole trail is 2.5 miles of knife ridges. not hard except extremely narrow and windy. i'll keep you all posted on it's trail usage. and get pics as soon as i can!

Jareds Finally back in Yuma.....:)
someonedidn't get their internet bill... so i'm disconnected till at least pay day. but i'm here safe in arizona! kickin' and drivin'. need to get the tools though to replace those stub axles. that new motor has a lot more torque and hp, i broke a stub axle in San Ana cali. pk came out to help, cause i didn't have a deep well 17mm. he brought an 11/16 deep. it worked on one and not the other. so i limped it home on the boken stub axle. thanks to all. i'm safe now. and thanks for all the help everyone!!

8" lift done!! pics of travel and car!!
i have a set of toyota axles and tcase that i could pick up and put in. the reason i left subaru running gear is. it's only the tcase and a couple drivelines, that are not suby, the rest is all subaru! that's why. i almost threw the toy gear in. but wanted my subaru to still be mainly subaru. my next project i'll probably through solid axles for kicks. the next question to ask is. when does a yota or jeep become a just a body and frame, with no ground roots. completely differant drivetrains and suspensions?? they are still considered toy's.

8" lift done!! pics of travel and car!!
the car is not a joke. so why would you say anything about it being a joke? it's an extremely capble machine, and more capable than yours. why is it a joke? cause it's not. just because it's not your standard subaru doesn't mean. it's a joke. so grow up and watch your mouth. anyways back to topic.

8" lift done!! pics of travel and car!!
it's rolling on 31's, 8" lift, 5 speed d/r, ea82 suspension, power steering, nissan tcase, 4.11 gears, lsd in the front and welded/open rearends... the exahust is a dual, not the turbo. but do to the fact the engine is back in original position, the exhaust tucks straight under the motor and over the front engine crossbmember. so there's no way i can hit that exahaust without landing straight on it. no cats on the exahaust either. it's cruising great at highway speeds!! more get up and go then it had before the built motor. but i top out around 75 on the freeway. sorry sean i didn't call before going through medford. i couldn't get your # off the pm, do to the board being down. i'm sorry. i'll have to stop by next time i come through. not sure when i'll get back. hopefully in may. for a day or 2.

Starting my Journey to get little roo!! and go on a stress filled vacation!!
i thought we were going boarding on the 6th?? and we weren't going to be going 4xing... come to find out the tires i have are probably a/t tires but oh well 50 dollars. they'll hold me off till tax returns... which sucks... but i'll make them work. :boohoo: so i'll be lacking big time in the tire department... :boohoo: cause i might have to get home early if they granted the full leave. cause i just found out my friend is going to iraq on the morning or the night of the 10th!!

Starting my Journey to get little roo!! and go on a stress filled vacation!!
well not tonight. but tomorrow morning i wake and go to work. go straight from work to pheonix. i guess i'm camping at the airport. too poor to rent hotel room. wake up 0645 in the morning and prepare to board plane flight at 0730. fly to oregon and be in portland around 11am. then from there go home. start the family get togethers on the morning of the 31st... and all the other fun and stress that'll be going on... yeah just over 5 days till the test and thrash run at reiter. well not really gonna be thrashin' but will be testing all sorts of new equipment!! i got to get used to the new little roo. being the fact she's had a complete make over!! lift, tires, steering, hi power 1.8L, tranny, tcase... and then some!! sweet!! the whole trip is stressing enough my heart is starting to heart. which is not good.

Its too damn cold out (pointless post)
i've been procrastinating replacing to a better coil. guess i'll do that next month. since i'll have that new motor and tranny. i'll need everything i can to make it run awesome. that 115hp is gonna be sweet. hey if it makes you feel better it was like 70 degrees here in yuma today!! above freezing. but i bet you i'd like to trade you summers... 120 Degrees...

West Coast Stompers Web page updates
we might not be wheeling in sac. not sure if brian's car will be ready. i might have to leave on the 7th though if we don't go wheel. cause i have a friend leaving to iraq the day i'm supposed to arrive back in yuma. so i'm not sure. if that's the case. i might swing by and say hi. but not sure about wheeling. depends. cause i just found out it's pretty definate he's leaving. which means if his job is leaving... that means it's only a matter of time till our squadrons start going... yeah!!

Fox Shocks?
yes they have automotive applications northguy. they use them in rock crawlin, but mainly in baja racing. i'm planning on using the fox coilover setups in the rear. some time in the future. the extra support of the coilovers, not to mention adjustable, compression and rebound.

washington state ORV trail closures
i know all the tread lightly stuff. i usually do stay on the trail unless there's a reason. it's not really hijacking the post you are stating truthful information. i was just relaying all the info i've gathered on what trails are closed. and anything else i was told. the lower jeep trail at walker is not really part of walker. it is but it's not within the boundry of the park. so it's not usually closed. or it least it used to not be in the boundry, unless they changed it. I'm not trying to advocate going and making your own trails. but these are awesome trails! the reason why highrider was closed from what i understand. is that it's near spada lake. the huge natuaral watershed for snohomish county. "to help prevent terrorist attacks" that's bs to close a trail. now lake isabele is a maybe cause there is a creek crossing that 2 months out of the year salmon supposedly run it. but no one can confirm wether it's closed. as of sept. it was open. it might just be closed sometimes, or seasonal. who knows but i'll find out. ken's signature i'm sure doesn't mean go make all of your own trails. it means more or less to take the less beaten path, the harder way through. that would be my guess

washington state ORV trail closures
Thanks for the info!! i haven't heard anything about that trail for awhile. so i wasn't sure. definately when i get home. i'm gonna start learning how to lobby these organizations for trail reopening. cause i think that sucks they are closing all the hardcore trails here in washington!!
-
washington state ORV trail closures
that's the main reason. if they didn't work out the winter thing. the park would have been closed permanately. environmentalists gotta love them. that place is always wet and muddy everytime i've been there. and that's a lot, during the winter and summer it's muddy.

lifting a Subaru?
i'll vouch that the 83 d/r sucks. the 4th gear is taller than the 5th gear in the 5 speeds. too wide of a gear ratio. but adam by the dual tcase's you mean the subaru and nissan right?? or did you make a doubler after the transaxle? you'd have no driveline... the_bard if he's talking about the divorced nissan transfercase. you couldn't use the pkdavis lift. you'd be utilizing a subframe. and everyone that's done them, that i know of, are like at least 6" lift. basically, you make the lift (or i'm sure you could talk to mudrat. these types of lifts are a lot more spendy than getting a pk lift though. lots of custom fabbing.) custom fabbed blocks on a subframe. you suck the tranny and engine back to original position on the body. put a short little driveline out of the tranny to the tcase. from the tcase it goes to the rear diff, then to the front via a driveline to another rear diff, modified into your front engine crossmember underneath the tranny. which makes it so you can put a lsd in the front too!! lower gearing like around 60:1 to 70:1 final crawl ratio. you can also change the diff ring and pinions up to like 4.44:1. you'd also be the first i've heard of with a EA82 set up that way. sorry for semi jacking the post.
