  1. Hi, I'm looking for any and all steering column controls, for an 80 brat, also ignition switch assembly (everything from the column to the key). Do you still have heater cores?
  2. Do you have a turn signal assembly from the steering column for an 80 brat??
  3. http://reno.craigslist.org/pts/1069288467.html there is also a Subaru mechanic named Ken In Tahoe that advertises on Craigslist. In reno, Independent Automotive is the Subaru specialist there is also Supposedly a Shop at the lake somewhere, I don't remember the name though. If you were to put in a used motor you might as well replace that stuff anyway not knowing where the motor came from. If you can get a reputable Subaru mechanic to do all that work for $4000 parts and labor thats not bad. This however is why a lot of us do our own work. When I did my car: timing belts, clutch, head gaskets, and seals, it only cost me $600-$700 and about three days of my time. hope that helps croak

is there a diference in lift between, using outback struts and springs, or outback struts with the original outback sport springs?
  5. croak posted a topic in Off Road
Has anyone done the outback lift and kept the OBS Springs, how much lift without using outback springs, What is the difference?? At least one back strut is shot, might as well upgrade if im gonna do the work. thanks in advance italo
  6. We are doing a head gasket and timing belt job on my little brothers car (2000 Outback wagon). I Just wanted to confirm the tooth count, the belt that came w/ the e-bay kit was marked at 47 teeth on the passanger side and 44 on the driver side, the driver side should be a half tooth either way. I read in another post 47 & 43.5, thats what we went with. please sombody confirm these numbers thanks croak
  7. So It looks Like Fel-Pro has discontinued the engine gasket kits for ea-81s, I don't know if they have discontinued the individual parts, but I'm sure thats soon to come. Both Napa And Rock Auto, told me they were no longer available. I think there are a few still available on line. I was able to get the head gasket kit from Rock auto, but I suspect they are just selling off the stock that is left. just passing on croak
  8. So my dad just bought a 2000 OBW for my little brother, and of course the next day he found out its got a head gasket leak. So I get to help him fix it. Ive done the reseal on an ea82, so I know to do timing belts, water pump and seals while were in there. just wondering if there is anything else to do, and which head gaskets to use, Permatork or OEM. croak
  9. OK well crap in terms of Subaru, My dad is looking for my little brother (who isn't really maintenance minded), so he should probably just stick w/ the 2.2, just looking for some opinions. croak
  10. So Ive heard a lot about the first generation of the 2.5l motor being crap, or at least having severe head issues. When did SOA start puting out the second gen 2.5l thanks croak
  11. So its time for a clutch and reseal on the '82 I was wondering how worth it it is to upgrade to the '83,'84 clutch and flywheel?? also , the clutch never completely releases now (IE. when I push start it wont go in gear even w/ the clutch buried) the cable is adjusted all the way down (yes I released the hill holder first) any ideas what is wrong, what parts I need to look in to, release fork, pedal rump roast., or just the cable (which i will be replacing) how can i tell if something is bent? thanks in advance croak
  12. just saw this today http://reno.craigslist.org/car/623675864.html looks pretty strait id go after it if I had the time.

  17. did you happen to come across any ea 81's with a push bar, saw one at reno pap but it was bent to ****. thanks italo
  18. Is the '81 and '82 pickup the same I swapped one from parts car and nothing, I guess Ill get a couple from PAP. also what does the ignition relay control on the '82. I got some weird readings from the conector the low volt side, seems to go to ground on both sides(I tested the relay to make sure it clicked w/ 12v and it did). thanks Croak
  19. '82 GL Wagon no spark at coil . Swapped coil & disty from parts car ('81 GL Wagon) Still no Spark, but I do have twelve volts at both sides of the coil. Parts ECU didn't fit. What else other than ECU, disty(Ignition controll module), and coil could be causing the problem?? I don't see an amplifier any where. Im hoping to find an ECU at PAP tomorrow, what years are compatible? is it just '82. Any help, or suggestions greatly appreciated. I need my car back!! P.S. Does anyone have an '82 wiring Diagram. Thanks in advance Croak
  20. could be a sticky choke, would explain it starting fine when cold then dieing at idle when hot, either way enough carb cleaner should do the trick. croak
  21. one weekend to finish just easier I guess
  22. I am doing a clutch and reseal this weekend was just going to get a remanned flywheel so I wasn't out the time to get it resurfaced (clutch has been slipping for a while now so flywheel maybe fried anyway) Kragen is the only one that can get it for me locally but they tell me there computer only shows it for 4wd turbo, no 4wd n/a. web site says #810 which the store says comes up as turbo. Question is do the turbo and n/a use the same flywheel?? thanks in advance croak '87 GL FI wagon
