the dash is really easy to get out if you can get the steering wheel off, but in my excperience it's much easier and more enjoyable to just go slam your head in a door a few times because the hedache you'll get will be the same!!! anyways, if you have all of the bold out, as well as the couple of screws that are on the underside of the dash in the center, you can shimmy the dash out the PASSENGER side door. Just be carefull to unplug all of the wires as you go, since i thought i had all of mine out and then managed to almost tear out an entire bunch in my haste to get the dash out. It was WAY easier with 2 people.... you just gotta kinda wiggle it over the steering wheel.

or you could always do what i do.... Pull the whole harness now, ask questions later!!!

:-p Well, if you feltso inclined, it would be AWESOME, as i think that's pretty much all i need to get my new baby up and running. As for the condition, well, its got to be better than mine! Let me know what i need to say to talk you into it and i'll say it!!! ha.... no really though, that would pretty much make you my best friend in the whole wide world.

Does anyone out there have a harness for an 81 brat by chance? would the harness be different depending on the engine thats in it???? im totally new to this electrical stuff, so please hang in there with me..... thanks

Awesome.. i'll go take a pic right now. I have the entire harness from my car. Well, except that back part. but i have the engibe and the intside.

so my harness in my Brat has been Jimmy rigged SOOOO Bad it's not even funny...(no offense if your name is Jimmy). At any rate, i went and pulled a harness from a ?79? wagon in the yard thinking they would match... NOT the case.... now i've pulled my harness so the car is (-) electric at this point.. now i dont know what to do. I dont think i can make the other harness work as there are plugs missing on it... if all that meant was that a few things wouldnt work on my brat, that would be ok.. but i have a suspision it wont work at all. anyone know of any place that makes a harness i could buy, or does anyone have any ideas? i really wanted to get this fixed this week, so the more help the better! thanks alot!

i've got access to a 79 brat... mostly complete... i'd have to check on the driver fender... the passenger one has a dent

For my 81 BRAT: 1. Tailgate handle 2. inside AND outside door handles 3. The pocket compartment where the stereo is supposed to go 4. Jump seats (yeah... i know... dont count on it) 5. exterior trim 6. WIRING HARNESS!!!!! I'm up in Nor cal... so if anyone near me has any of this, that would be awesome... cuz i dont really have much money for shipping...

Well feel free to come up to the paradise/ chico area whenever you want. Pretty much all i do now is work on this old girl since i bought her for 100 bucks, so theres ALOT to be done!!!

Hey there, im trying to find out if there are any old school people up here near Chico, Grass Valley, etc. I'm restoring my brat and would love to find some people to colaborate with and to visit the junk yards with, and when my brat finally WORKS, to go wheeling with.
