  1. Dude, you have sooo easy out there. If my wagon had that little bit of work to do, I'd have a show car by now! -Doug (endorses por-15)
  2. Here are a few pics of mine. Been a busy rust repairing spring around here! -Doug
  3. Yeah, I don't understand how a blacktop driveway is a problem here. I drive my wagon to clients houses and I usually stay off the cement driveways due to the leaks. I don't want any customers freaking out in these upscale neighborhoods with any oil spots, but I have no problem parking on a blacktop driveway. It doesn't show! -Doug
  4. Mine also leaks a couple of drops a day on my driveway. i figure it's a whole lot easier to use degreaser and the powerwasher to clean the driveway once a month than to track down the leak on the car. As it seems, these engines are gonna leak anyhow. If you want, we could really freak her out and park my loyale behind yours and have two old oil leaking subaru's on her driveway! -Doug
  5. That resonator is a catalytic convertor on the loyale. I don't what year they started using two cats, but it certainly makes the exhaust more expensive. I think I've seen the rear cat listed for $160something online somewhere. Maybe you could see if a shop could weld it back together without replacing the convertor? OT - Hey ZRX Doug, my country/rock band is playing up the at Limelight (12 1/2 and VanDyke) on May 12th. If you're up for it, it would be cool to see two rusty old gen wagons in the parking lot, lol! Especially since I NEVER see any of old gen cars on the road around here... -Doug
  6. You could make a nice little instructional video and sell it too! I've been picking away at the rust on my wagon as the weather permits. No garage space to work in makes it a bit of a pain, but the old car will be looking good by summertime and also ready to tackle a few more michigan winters without rotting apart. -Doug
  7. I recently did the drivers side/front bearing on my loyale. Lots of cussing and swearing while swinging that hammer, but the job got done and the car is nice and quiet going down the freeway now. $40 for the bearings, $20 for the tool I found on ebay to pull the axle through the bearings. A mechanic will probably charge you several hundred in labor. I think it's rated a four hour job... -Doug
  8. One thing my Loyale will do; if I don't have the gas cap completely tightened, it will get moisture in the tank and run like crap when it happens. I don't know what it is about the fuel filler area, but mine seems to attract water like a magnet! -Doug
  9. Hey, if ya got the time, see what it looks like if you black out the door handles as well. I'm thinking of doing mine on black.... -Doug
  10. When I bought my '00 Legacy, it ate the re92's by 25k. All four tires worn very evenly with very little tread left lol.... I thought I'd upgrade to some Dunlops and they were gone after 20k. Those were directional though and could only be rotated front to back. I went back to re92's and let it eat the cheap tires. -Doug
  11. I may try that. I've procrastinated on replacing the o2 sensor and have lived with the slight hesitation for now. The weather got crappy again and I have a wheel bearing that is really sounding like a much more urgent repair! -Doug
  12. I seen that ad also, and the price seems extremely high for a pretty rare (in these parts anyhow) car that needs some MAJOR repair. Maybe you could offer to haul it away for free? -Doug
  13. I don't venture over to this board often, cause there aren't too many old sube's around in MI.....but I've got one! That said, there probably aren't any meets anywhere's close, we seem to be isolated subaru owners in this part of the country. peace, Doug
  14. I put a panel on my truck camper (about 2' x 3') that kicks out about 7 amps in full sunlight. Cloudy days, maybe half that. It works good though for my lights, radio and 12v cooler. I have it hooked up to a couple of 6 volt gel cell batteries that can hold 200+ amp hours. Those batteries are nice because they don't vent hydrogen, so I could keep them in a convenient spot without blowing the thing up! -Doug
  15. Subaru's make us paranoid about headgaskets, that's for sure.... It's probably normal, mine gets like that when it's cold out. That filler tube sticks way out from the heat of the engine.... It's only natural that water would condense there. -Doug
  16. I've got the panel off now and will keep an eye on the led. Funny thing, I drove home from night classes and the car ran perfect and the led was blinking at me...... -Doug
  17. Howdy everyone, I'm thinking I have a bad o2 sensor. On cold start it will idle up fine and drive great, but once it starts warming up a bit then I get hesitation issues that will lessen once the engine reaches full temp. No codes in the ecu, but I think when normally running the led is supposed to blink with the o2 sensor right? I have no blinking at anytime even when it's fully warmed up. I just want to be sure my Loyale's ecu does the oxygen monitor thing. thanks, Doug 93 Loyale 4x4 5sp spfi wagon.
  18. I bought one new from Rock Auto a while back, think it was 30 bux. Took all of 5 minutes to swap in, nice to have all the blower speeds in the winter time. -Doug
  19. I used to have a 2000 Legacy GT Limited with all the options.... REALLY nice car, but I got married and needed money so the car went. Now I drive a 93 Loyale and while it's not nearly as nice as the Legacy, it's a whole lot more practical for hauling things, don't have to worry about messing any leather interior and well, I'm just happy to be driving a Subaru again! -Doug
  20. Wow, my 93 Loyale is so new at 94,000! But I'll catch up to you guys in a few years though, I bought the car for my business which needs me to drive about 30k per year. I've got some rust repair to catch up on though! -Doug
  21. pfft. I'm supposed to go ice fishing in a couple of weeks in northern Michigan. Looks like I'll have to bring a boat..... At least I'm not tired of winter yet, it's still fall here...... -Doug
  22. Yes, Hodges is good. I took my Legacy there for the few recalls that were issued for it and they always were very good to me. Never had to take that car in for any repairs in the 80k that I drove it though.... I'm too cheap to take the old Loyale to the dealer though, it is not nearly the car my Legacy was! There's a place in Ferndale called Dinh's Foriegn Auto Repair that has always done me right for the stuff I couldn't do. Maybe I should pull the Loyale into Hodges though, maybe they'll offer me a great trade in on it! -Doug
  23. Welcome to the board! It seems Subarus are getting popular in Michigan these days. I see lots of Outbacks, Forresters, and WRX's on the freeways, but I think I have the only Loyale wagon anywhere near Detroit lol! Never, ever see any old Subaru's around here. cheers, Doug
