  1. I have a 97 impreza 2.2 and just had the cam and main seals done at 130k. The leaking was a smoky pain and cost me much more than $100. I would not feel bad about spending the extra cash while its already apart, it will probably pay off in the long run.
  2. sounded like a fun question so I had to see if I could get it. I measured the window (roughly) and assumed a density of 2.5g/cc for glass. thickness=.6cm width=122cm lenght=91.4cm volume=6690cc mass=6690cc*2.5g/cc=16.73KG or 36 lb sorry, i just noticed this is NOT the original question
  3. My newly acquired '87 RX has some rust. The areas vary in size from about a dime on the body, to a larger area inside the door near the hinges. Many of the areas are very hard to reach, and even if i could they are very irregular and would be hard to sand. Has anyone tried products that brush on and are supposed to reverse and stop further rusting? Eastwood Rust Encapsulator is one I've found. If anyone has used this or anything similar I wold appreciate hearing about it. Thanks, Carl
  4. Let her go man (the car i mean) Just think all the other 86's left on the road are now just that much more valuable
  5. NO i never considered doing that. seems like a lot of $$. I have never installed one, but I would guess that it runs on a batterey and is completely self contained like the ones I have seen at the stores. These come with a window mount a glue and dont need any other wires.
  6. Thanks , that is exactly where the new boost guage is. the picture helped a ton.
  7. LOL i think that is where he put the boost gauge.
  8. OK, Probably a silly question but I swear I have looked and cant find the rear defrost switch on the '87 RX i just bought from XSNRG. He had this thing all rally crossed out (ie stripped) so maybe he removed it?? There are most definitely defrost wires in the rear window , so anyone with a similar car tell me where there switch is located? Thanks, Lazy
  9. OK, I have to ask.... Why are 3 people going instead of 2??
  10. Hey, I fixed the same prob on my old hatch. My problem was the plastic housing around the wire had broken, allowing the housing to slide around and not move the defrost flap. It was kind of a pain, i had to take the interior pretty well apart, glove box out and all that, but the heater core stayed put. then I just moved the plastic housing up because there was enough slack in the other end to make up the difference. This will make sense once you get it apart. If that is the problem anyway. Its really not as bad as it looks, just takes time and keeping all the stupid little bolts and screws straight. I even took pics if you want to see let me know. good luck
  11. Not only will they breed, they will outbreed us 10:1
  12. BAH, all you whiners will say the same thing in 2018, 'remember back in 2008 when subaru made cool cars'..mark my words now and look at them in 10 years... I just wish i could afford a new WRX! One thing we all have to keep in mind is that Sub is a company that has to make $$ at the end of the day selling new cars, they don't stay in business by being quirky or making excellent USED cars.
  13. Greetings Gurus, I was shopping for foglights when I found the following page: http://www.subaruparts.com/catalog/?section=12 Near the bottom of the page is a cruise control unit for '97 impreza AT (my car!) for only $57. I would really really really like to have cc so this was a very pleasant find. I just need to know if it is 'plug and play' or if I will also have to install all of the other parts too. (out of the question, ill buy a new car first). Does anyone know how hard these things are to install? Thanks, Major Lazy
  14. YES as a matter of fact there IS...he could have killed someone else like lots of retarded punks do
  15. WOW I have been married 4 years and have NEVER heard 'do whatever you want'. guess my wife knows me too well
  16. lol, Egg, Pepper and Coffee? Someone throw in some toast and well have a complete meal here.
  17. The silver rims look much better to me. What i really want to know is....where did the old 'roo bar go?
  18. Last time i bought tires (ok its been a while) it was at Les Shwabs and it was additional $5 per tire to sipe. OMG it makes the car stop in the rain!
  19. Does anyone know if this Carb will bolt up to a EA81 without mods? I keep hearing how great they are, and if I can solve those low end chugs and other probs with this I will pay the Moneys. I have some cash because I got rear ended and the damage is just the muffler and the bumper (but being a $570 beater, the car was totaled). the insurance money is enough to fix the exhaust and buy this thing. Anyone have any knowledge here? Thnks

  21. OK, I have a question for anyone. I have heard from other people several times the same thing Frank B just said above. But I just dont understand..........How can timing affect the dieseling when the key is shutoff therefore no spark. Am I missing something? Carbon makes sense logically because it would raise the compression ratio. My 1982 hatch diesels after turning the key off but does not ping when I drive it.
  22. Aztec Gold is what i THINK it is, i like it./*
  23. well Im lazy, its been ages but I actually got a radio installed. I had to use wooden stakes but it seems ok so far. PICTURES HERE
  24. Daeron here is the link: http://www.installer.com/item/display_item.php?it=99-8900 however BEWARE The kit will NOT fit a din radio into cars like mine (1982 hatch). I had to really rig the kit to make it fit I used wooded stakes cut for washers in the back. I did however use the faceplate meant for later model subarus. anyway here is a pic of the result [
