  1. I had to put on my shades to look at them!! Those are so pretty I'd be afraid to put them on. Frank
  2. I'm at approximately 2 turns out. Anything below 1000rpms and it tries to sputter and die after it's warmed up to normal operating temp. Mixture screw on the primaries runs smoothest right at 2 turns out so I'm sure it's jetted right. Secondaries are at 1 1/2 turns. I believe edrach has a few of Cameron's Webers on his Brats and has had no problems and all I've read here says he (Cameron) knew what he was doing in rebuilding these carbs. I don't have a fuel pressure regulator in there but my fuel pressure is between 2 1/2 and 3 lbs. right where it should be. I'm tempted to try switching it over to my good running 81 and see if the problem is the Brat instead of the carb but I'd have to dig into all that vacuum mess and I don't want 2 Brats sitting in my yard not running. I am vacuum hose illiterate when it comes to these subies. Thanks for answering, any other ideas welcome please. Frank
  3. :banghead: OK, I've spent the last week reading and trying everything as far as tuning this Weber and I've noticed that most of these threads about backfire problems either fade out (Yeti,Slideshow86,ect) or end in a Weber for sale add. Has anyone ever FOUND the problem and fixed it? I have an 82 Brat with a fresh resealed EA81. DG series 32/36 electric choke weber that came with the brat when I bought it from lepetitprince that was rebuilt/modded and jetted for Subaru application by Cameron (former board member from Australia) in 2004. I've set the timing according to GD's instruction. I've put my 50 cents in the ASV's and sealed them off. Compression test shows 165 to 175 on all cylinders. I have 1 vacuum hose from the carb to the dist, 1 going to the cab for the heater controls, and my brake booster hooked up, all other vacuum ports are capped off except for the vacuum port on the back of the intake manifold under the carb where I have the vacuum guage attached. I presently have 19lbs of manifold vacuum at rough idle with no leaks I can find. I've followed all the tips on setting and adjusting the idle/mixture screws. I've tried 3 different coils and 3 different distributors in various combinations. New cap, rotor, plugs, wires ect. Fresh gas. I can get it to idle at 1100 rpm but it pops and backfires when under acceleration in neutral and it's even worse when under load. I have pulled my dist. and tried chasing my timing around and that hasn't helped either. It seems to run best at the farthest end of the adjustment range on the dist like I'm off 1 tooth but when I move it 1 tooth it moves all the way to the other end of the dist adjustments like it should be back 1 tooth if that makes any sense. I have the carter/weber 1bbl it came with, and a hitachi 2bbl on manifolds I could go back to but I HATE and don't want to replace all that vacuum hose mess 'cause I know I'll never get that back in there right. Sorry about being long winded!!! Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated!!! :banghead: Frank
  4. That's  !!! I did a search for 1981 Brat and mine was 1st on the list. It doesn't have me listed as the winning bidder though. Thanks for posting this. Frank
  5. Let me know if you find one. I'm off the same exit as the PAP. Frank
  6. There's supposed to be a white one there now. I was going to pull the compressor from a coupe or gl10 wagon but they were both gone when I went there a couple weeks ago. I might need a passenger rear air strut too if i can't repair the slow leak in mine. BTW were you in the Smokey Point area with your XT last weekend? I saw a black one going towards Lake Goodwin on 172nd. on Saturday or Sunday afternoon and figured it had to be yours since there are only a few around. Thanks again for takin' a look for me. Frank
  7. While you're there could you look and see if they have any adjustable air suspension equipped subies? My compressor on my XT went belly up and I'm stuck in the lifted mode. Thanks, Frank
  8. Good to hear LB made the trip safely. I just hope you don't get sued for whiplash injuries from the subaru fans snapping their heads around for a 2nd look at your BEAUTIFUL car!!!! Frank
  9. Shoulda installed a sattelite feed dash cam so we all could follow along!!!!!!! Frank
  10. Are you talkin about me or the car??? I figure I'll be able to get to the bodywork about July 5th or so when the 70+ degree weather and sunshine comes back. Until then I'll just stay in the fast lane so everyone sees the passenger side as I pass by. Frank BTW Nice to meet you too Psyko! Custom apple stickers for wccs10? Just a thought.
  11. The damage isn't THAT bad!!!!! Thanks for not getting the ugly side of my XT. Unfortunately I didn't have my back turned so you got the ugly side of me. It was nice to meet you and everyone else, I had a blast hanging with Turbone's kids:cool: at the end of the table. Enjoy the rest of your time here and have a safe trip back home and take good care of that sweet little coupe. Frank:headbang:
  12. I just did mine on my XT and it was easy once I got the pickle fork. It took 3 good whacks with the BFH and that did it. Frank
  13. Hey Turbone, did you all figure out a place to meet up at Friday night? I know I'm kinda late but I'd like to add my name to the guest list if possible. Thanks, Frank:cool:
  14. (insert bad accent>) You can do it!!!!! With all the support and coaching from all the GREAT people on here you should have all the backing you need to tackle this job. Plus, it'll be a great learning experience and you can take pics and document everything for your fans to follow along! And be thankful you're not a Flyers fan! Frank
  15. Simple fix for the situation. Park the XT6 when you get the coupe and find a clean no rust XT6 out here for cheap and have it shipped back there when you can afford it. Then you've got a complete running parts car available when it shows up. Until then go enjoy the Isles run for the playoffs and relax. Frank

    PUG test

Nice!!! Those pugs look sweet on there. I'm glad your happy with them! I wasn't too excited with the traction those tires had either but atleast your up on 14's. Enjoy!!!! Frank
  17. I've been all over in there with my stock 81 Brat with 14" rims and street tires and had no problems. You'll have plenty of fun. Especially if it snows up there. If I can finish up the crate motor swap on my 82 Brat and get it up and runnin' right I'd like to join you guys. I've got to swap manifolds first since it came out of a right hand drive car:mad:. Or get a really long brake booster hose. I'm not lifted (yet) so I'll be staying towards the shallow end of the pool for now. I'm in Smokey Point so I could catch you guys coming from the north as you pass through the area. Frank
  18. No luck on the air deflector. 1 of the Leg wagons had 1 but someone already got to it. They had 2 gl-10's with the swivel headrests but they were grey or blue. I did score a nice clean set of motion mags off an 85 wagon and some of the parts I needed for my XT. I'll keep an eye out and let you know if I see the stuff your lookin for. they're getting in lots of new cars everyday. Frank
  19. There were a couple of early 90's leg wagons but most of the subies were 80's models. Didn't see the rear deflector your looking for but I wasn't really paying too much attention to the newer Subies. I'm goin back again tomorrow so I'll take a better look at them and let you know if there's one there. Frank
  20. Just got back from Arlington PAP. There's a ton of older wagons EA81 and 82, a couple of EA81 4wd hatches, an 86 XT turbo (nice blue seats, digital dash)and a few other EA82T coupes and wagons. All the turbo's and lsd's from the turbo cars were already taken but there's alot of good stuff there compared to Lynnwood PAP. Definately worth the trip up north. Frank
  21. ??? = 172nd st. That must be the old Welco lumberyard just before the train tracks at the bottom of the hill. I'll check em out today and post a report of what they've got available. Frank
  22. Congrats!!! Nice pretty little car!!! But now everyone's gonna come out here and take all our rustfree Subies away!!! Have fun with it once you get out here and get your hands on it. Frank (fshnidiot)
  23. Basically it means if you lose a timing belt you won't hurt the motor like some other motors will do if you lose one. Frank (fshnidiot)
