  1. I doubt I'm gonna buy anything. I'm probably just gonna look around. My boss says its pretty awesome, due to the amount of people there. Maybe some of you west coasters would like to get together and grab a bite to eat?
  2. I have an 83 dl wagon that a wheel bearing went out in, I put a new one in, but I didn't grease it enough:dead:, so I had a new bad bearing. That same weekend I looked at an 89 coupe, which is what I'm driving now. The 83's been sitting for a couple weeks now, and the more I think about it, the more I think it's fixable. But I want some opinions as to whether I should put the time and money into it, or just part it out. It needs: a windshield left rear wheel bearing brake line (not sure which one, but it's in the rear) gauge cluster 2, possibly 3 axles 2 185/70/r13's (right now its rockin 185's in the rear, and 175's in front) major exhaust leak fixed possibly a different rack and pinion, there's slop where the steering shaft comes down and meets it the heater controls hooked up right misc. interior parts I'd like to: reseal the engine d/r swap (4-speed for now) swap a dash from a gl into it wire up all the gl gauges (if I go that route) change all the plastic interior pieces from said gl so that colors match. I don't know how probable doing all this stuff is, but I'd like to see the 83 on the road again someday. Let me know what you think, I need some advice.
  3. There could be, I've seen some replacement u-joints that do have fittings, and some that don't. You're just going to have to take a look-see
  4. http://www.wssa.us/Expo/expo.htm Anyone going? I'd love to meet some west coast usmb'ers.
  5. The shop I work at is a napa autocare center, so we always use napa's (I think its valvoline) oil. I use 10-30 and a can of engine restore.
  6. I tried atf earlier today, I dumped in about a quarter quart, and the tick went away when I hit the freeway, but as soon as I was back in town, it was back. I might try the draining a quart/adding atf method. But if it won't cause any damage in the long run, I'm not too worried about it.
  7. I drove to the store yesterday, and when I paused my music, I heard a ticking. I knew what it was immediately, tick of death, so I shut my car off and checked the oil, only to discover that I was about a quart and a half low on oil. Rather than pay the $4 a quart that the store wanted, I drove to work (not even a mile) and payed $4 for 2 quarts (+1 for working at a shop!). After work I added the oil, and the tick is still there. Is there any cheap/easy solution? Or can I just leave it alone and will it be ok? Btw, its an spfi ea82, and I put about 350 miles a week on it.
  8. So you're goin up today? I might be able to make an appearance, if its not in too hardcore of a location.
  9. Theres a real strong chance I won't be there, but you never know. Let me know exactly where it is, and I'll see what I can do.
  10. Thanks for the info guys. I'll take a look at the pcv tubes when I get a chance to later. And as for the tranny swap, I'm hoping to find a gl coupe with a dual range, which would make everything easier. If I did find one, theoretically could I swap over all the d/r stuff?
  11. When I put a tach in my 83, the black wire was ground, red was tapped into a "when key is on" hot, white tapped into a wire that was hot when the gauge lights were on, and the green wire to the positive side of the coil. Hope that helps.
  12. Got it last sunday: Its got a 3AT , fwd , 220,003 miles, spfi ea82, power steering, had ac, but doesn't anymore because someone before me took the compressor out,no stereo (but thats gonna change soon), and it was only $200. I asked the guy why so cheap, and he said that when you turn to sharply to the right, oil gets past the rings on the front left cylinder and it smokes for awhile after that. Well, thats not the case, the only smoke I'm seeing is from the gear oil and tranny fluid leaking down onto the y-pipe. I'd like to do a 5-speed swap, and possibly dual range it, how involved does that get? Or would I be better off leaving it like it is? Thanks for the input guys, I really appreciate it.
  13. I got me a snowmobile today, for only $20. It runs like a champ, the only problem it has is that the steering linkage is all frozen up, so that's why it was so cheap. Boy, I can hardly wait to tear it apart and fix it:dead: I really like whats goin on in this last pic:
  14. I'd recommend sonicelectronix.com. I've never bought anything there myself, but I have a friend who did, and we were both impressed with the quality, plus you get a 1 year warrenty. 6.5's 6x9's
  15. It looks like I might not make it. I don't think I'll have the gas money . I'll see what I can do, but if I don't make it, you guys have fun
  16. Coleman canyon is a possibility. What do ya think Robbie?
  17. K. If not tomorrow night, then sometime saturday afternoon.
  18. I heard its about 480 acres. After I fix my wheel bearing, this weekend we can take a run up there and see how things are
  19. Are you sure you're getting compression? I have a compression tester you can borrow if you'd like..
  20. I might not be able to make it friday night, since I work on saturday, but I know sat. night I'll definately be able to make it. Me with my wimpy 83 dl, 4wd s/r on 185's
  21. I decided to finally pull my entire dash out (without pulling the windshield ) and put in one from an 82 GL. I just got it all pulled out (the one from my 83), and wanted to make sure the gauges would work, so I plugged in the two plugs that fit (one didnt, so I left it there) into the gauges from the 82 and hooked my battery back up and turned the key on. None of the gauges on the 82 dash work, so I'm wondering, am I going to have to undertake some sort of massive wiring carnage, or is it a few simple connections?
  22. yup, twas the disty rotor. that would suck major if the brake rotor flew apart
  23. I don't know if they're stock, but a friend of mine runs 5.29's in his yota.
