  1. I used to (a few years ago) mess around with microsoft powerpoint, and was quite good at it. I'd like to get back into it, and was thinking about making an offroad subaru slideshow. I'm not sure how many people still use powerpoint, but I thought this would be a fun little "project" for me to do. I'm not trying to steal ideas (i.e. the poster and calender), but I was hoping that I could use pics that are already posted on the board. I could either email the slideshow to those who want one, or I could burn it onto a cd and mail it. All I ask is that whoever would want a cd to just cover shipping. Theres nothing in it for me, except for the fun of making it. You can post pictures in this thread, or pm me saying that I have your permission to use your already posted pics. And anyone who doesn't want me to use your pics, thats perfectly fine.
  2. I'll take 2. I'll give you the money the second weekend in December, if that works
  3. Well, after all this discussion about my coupe, I might end up not fixing it. I might be getting a wagon from all_talk. But this isn't for sure, I still need to test drive it and see how everything is. I'm sorry to all those who posted because you may think it was a waste of your time, seens how I might not fix my coupe. But I know I'll definately apply all of what all of you said to the wagon (if I get it). This may sound like a boo-hoo post, but it's not, because Im kinda glad for everything that is happening. I'll keep everyone updated as it progresses. Thank you all very much, I appreciate it greatly
  4. The 155's are stock, the door sticker says 155/80/r13. It kinda surprised me.
  5. lol, I kinda thought I was gonna hear about that
  6. My coupe doesnt have cruise either, but my lead foot makes up for that . So, I'm guessing with all the info I'm getting from you guys, a 5-speed and small things (tune up, 02 sensor) is all I should need to get at least 30 mpg.
  7. I'll probably leave the p/s and the 155's. If I do a 5-speed, I should still be able to achieve 30mpg. All_talk has a fwd loyale, and he says he consistently gets 28 . Connie, I'm assuming Bucky has p/s?
  8. I always thought that slightly bigger tires would give you a little better mileage, since the engine has to turn less rpm's to go the same speed. It looks like I might leave the p/s and the 3at in the coupe for now until I get the wagon roadworthy, its got pushbutton 4wd, and I'd rather drive a 4wd in the snow.
  9. Bucky got 40? Oh, that would be nice if I could get that. And yes, its fwd. Damn, I'd like to see those kind of numbers
  10. I'm there. I don't care if the girlfriend doesn't go. I'm still there.
  11. I thought so, but I felt like it was worth asking anyhow
  12. After my headgasket incident (thread to come soon), I'm going to turn my coupe into a commuter (goal: 30 mpg), and I've got a few questions. 1. I'm definitely leaving it spfi, but I'm wondering, which engine gets better mileage, the ea81 or ea82? 2. I've got 155/80/r13's on it, should I leave those on there? My thinking is, less surface area touching the ground, less resistance, better mileage. 3. I'm taking the power steering out of it, would a manual rack and pinion out of an 85 wagon bolt right in? 4. Not really a question, but I'm hoping to get a 5-speed sometime soon, and I know it'll help with my mileage a lot more than the 3at that's in it
  13. Good pics, I really like those h-styles. I've seen a blue brat running around Eburg with H's and they look badass on brats!
  14. I know it's a long shot, but it could be bent valves? Either that or some of the valves aren't closing all the way. Or something else I just thought of, there could be a burnt valve.
  15. I wouldn't mind having one with say a black car and red effects
  16. I'd say that they are chevy rims. But I doubt they're 16.5's, I think those were only available in 8 lug
  17. Yup, it was bratsrus1 (Jerry). IIRC, he told me he's going to run an EJ22 with a 5-speed d/r into a divorced t-case. When it's all done, its gonna be sick!
  18. You could flush the torque converter by pulling one of the tranny cooler lines, putting a hose over the fitting on the cooler, and a bigger hose on the one that you pulled off the cooler and run them both into a bucket. Pour ~4 quarts of atf into the tranny dipstick tube, have someone start the car, and watch the lines that are going into the bucket, and whichever one is pumping fluid, as soon as it starts sputtering, have the person inside shut the car off. Repeat until clean fluid comes out. Thats how we do it at the shop I work at, and this method works great.
  19. $675.00 and a free bump www.sjrlift.com
  20. Is it the factory stereo or an aftermarket one? It sounds like theres a crossed wire somewhere. I don't know much about newer gen soobs, but take a look up under the dash and make sure there are no crossed wires.
  21. The temp gauge never went above halfway. The intake gaskets I got are felpro, and I haven't put them on yet. My dad looked at my car and thinks its ok to drive for now, so I haven't done anything to it yet. I was thinking the t-stat was stuck closed (because the upper hose swells when it's warming up). I'll probably change the t-stat and hoses today at work and see what that does.
  22. I've decided that I'm not going to start a project until after the 1st of the year, because I have a couple small debts that need to be paid off. But there's no reason I can't gather some ideas for when I do decide to start building a car. I've decided on: ea82 wagon ej22 swap 5-speed d/r into a divorced t-case 6" suspension lift rear disk swap 6-lug conversion at least 30x10.50's I'm not sure which t-case to go with, I'd like some ideas on what would be the best one to use. Also, I heard that ea71 diffs have a 4.11 ratio. Is that true? If so, would they be suitable for offroading? Or would I be better off sticking with the 3.9 ratio? Would I be better off welding my rear diff? Or would an lsd be fine to run with? I'd be driving through town on the occasional weekend, and with a welded diff, I'd be breaking axles left and right and I don't want to do that if I can avoid it. Are lsd's better for offroading than welded diffs?
  23. So theres finally something new with my coupe (other than the muffler rusting off), as I was driving to work this morning, most of the coolant decided not to stay in my engine anymore, and I was stuck on the side of the road. I couldn't tell what it was, and after it cooled down, I decided to drive back home. It seemed to go fine, so I filled the radiator up with water and grabbed another 4 gallons and drove it to work (30 miles). I don't think the thermostat ever opened up because the temp gauge stayed between 1/3 and 1/2 the whole way. I took a peek under the hood a little bit ago and didnt see where it was leaking, so I put a pressure tester on it and I noticed that the upper radiator hose swelled up. I took the tester off of it and started it up, and after about 10 minutes the upper radiator hose swelled up. I shut it off and ordered a new thermostat, upper and lower radiator hoses, and some intake gaskets. From the best I can tell, it looks like the coolant came out of the intake gasket. I didnt think coolant ran through there, but I could be wrong. Does coolant run through there? Well, at any rate, I'm going to be replacing the gaskets, t-stat and hoses after work. I'll post a status update after I fix 'er up.
