My '83 GL: The Ski Wagon
We might just see some welded rocker action this weekend. I am planning on removing the passenger side door Saturday, cut out the old rockers, and weld in the new. Trying to get this done in one day so I can put the doors back on. And then repeat for the other side possibly during the week since its gonna be nice out. Can having no Midpipe on the EA81 make it rev more gutless then the EA82? Idle seems to drop way to slow after rev. Is this something with the choke or throttle perhaps?

Axle boot choices.
Well, see if you can get boot clamps like this. They are SOOO much easier to install with simple tools (Pliers and or Wire cutters to crimp the locking end) http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=1029721 Cheers.

You can get good Boot clamps at NAPA. Get the kind with the ribs/teeth. They are very easy to install and work great.

I've never seen that. Doesn't even matter what Spline (23-25) I used an EJ axle boot on my EA axle once, fit perfect.

My '83 GL: The Ski Wagon
I am not on the quest of non rotted front fenders. The bottom rears on mine are gone, the mud flap was held on with one screw. I need 1983+ EA81 fenders, I think '80-'82 have the antenna on the Driver side vs the Passenger like mine. I have a Wanted ad going. Its a feeler for the mean time while I come up with money. I need to buy a Radiator and hoses first and some fluids to change out. I waxed my junkyard hood today, faded Calif. paint. but it brought back some of the color lol! No shine though, ah well. Gonna repaint the entire car some day once all the Body work it done. Its gonna be a Ski car rebirth!

This is what happens when you get a scratch in your hood. The whole structure was compromised.

Gotta see some pictures of this custom crossmember and shifter!- Can you identify this part?
What year is this motor? My '83 EA81 doesn't have this, that I can remember.- My '83 GL: The Ski Wagon
- Can you identify this part?
I'm usually pretty good at playing the random part identification game, but this one is a tuffy. I would also like to know what this is! I'm sure someone has one as well. -Tom- My '83 GL: The Ski Wagon
Yep, was thinking stainless wingnuts as well. Although a wingnut looking wingnut would be tacky on this lol. I'll have look around and see what I can find in a M6x70 pitch? Tom, if you can indeed find them, I would like them No real rust though, you know me- My '83 GL: The Ski Wagon
I recently had a Board memeber tell me not to long ago, that no matter what I did to my Air cleaner cover, it wouldn't look good because it was so rusty, and that I should just paint it with hammered paint. Well, here were the results. You be the judge. Removed: Stripped: Wire Wheeled: Primed: Painted: Finished: Please, Do not, tell me what I can and cannot do. This took me all of 1 hour from start to finish, I think it was worth it vs a Hammered finish. Now I just need to refinish the rest of the Air cleaner assembly. Also, where can I get new ones of these? I would like stainless is possible.- My '83 GL: The Ski Wagon
This is how I've joined the new lines, Both hard lines almost touch in the junction, the rubber hose/clamps are just there to make sealed connection as I didn't want to use Unions and flares. Rear suspension, Tank, Diff, Driveshaft all up. Open cat. Mid pipe broke off long ago, the other ownered tried to clamp it back on, but it wasn't sealed so I found. Gonna make my own exhaust. Need a new Radiator.- The Awesome Older Generation Picture Thread
Whats the stroy on that Tan EA82 Sedan/3-Door in the background behind the fence?- What Have You Done to your Soobie lately? (Please post in here and keep it going)
Started my EA81 for the first time in almost 3 months! Fired right up and went to redline (Whoops, throttle cable got stuck) Now for the rest of the car!- My '83 GL: The Ski Wagon
Why not? Mine came out. My car looked worse then yours I think? I wonder if the motor is running off whats left in the float bowl? Maybe this is why it doesn't run very smooth. I'm gonna seafoam it once I get a new rad where I can let it run longer then 30min. New pics later tonight. I need to run some brake line, and wait on rear discs from Subruise (Axle nut was bustin' his balls so I heard lol)- My '83 GL: The Ski Wagon
EA81 fires right up and runs! No leaks other then my Rad pissing like a horse. It also redlined when I first started it, Throttle cable came off its track and got stuck half open (Whoops) Seems to rev down slow? Is this normal for a carb motor?- My '83 GL: The Ski Wagon
I am using Wire wheel with 3000rpm HD drill, Permatex Rust Converter, High-Solids Enamel. POR-15 is garbage and not worth the money so I've found. I can buy all of the predeceasing for less then it costs for a Qt. of POR.- My '83 GL: The Ski Wagon
Will do. The pan and oil sender seems to be leaking as well, Although it could all be coming from one source.- My '83 GL: The Ski Wagon
My main question was, if oil is dripping out of where the Head/block mate, is this a failed HG?- My '83 GL: The Ski Wagon
Why do I have an oil drip from the passenger side Head? Where the head meets the Block.- My '83 GL: The Ski Wagon
So in a sense, its like Cast iron, Strong, yet brittle. As for Fastenal, I should check that out as well! I have one just down the road from me. Some of their stuff is kinda pricey, but it does cost less once you buy in balk. Thank you for the thought! - 89 loyal all wheeldrive turbo wagen
