  4. This is cool! http://www.macworld.co.uk/ipad-iphone/news/?newsid=3352317
  5. Gonna be following this thread!
  6. A sidways Inline motor is sure easier to work on then a sideways V style motor. GM 3600 for instance, you need to undo the motor mounts and pitch the engine forward to access the rear plugs. BS...!
  7. Rotors can indeed make noises, most of them cause a vibration during the noise though. I drove a 2003 L.L.Bean Outback with rear knocking under moderate braking, you could also feel it in the seat and steering wheel as well as the brake pedal. Under hard braking it wasn't very noticable as you are appling a way greater force to the pads. Another test you can do to check wheel bearings is to lightly swerve side to side, and see which way the noise gets louder. For instance, if you had a bad driver side wheel bearing, if you were to swerve right, the noise would become less, as you are putting an inward stress on that wheel bearing. If you were to swerve left, you are putting an outward stress onto that wheel bearing making it louder. Maybe some of this will help you determain if it is a wheel bearing and which side it is.
  8. Yes, probably a wheel bearing. When you apply the brake, it is putting more pressure on the bearing which makes it change tone. If you want to check it out more, jack the car up and pull on each wheel, and see if any of them have play/slop in them (It will be obvious) Cheers, -Tom
  9. lol.... That would be most of what NASIOC is, look at any, and I mean ANY thread. Its all the same Scott, when you did your 5spd swap, did you swap Driveshafts? I thought the Auto driveshaft was different then the Manual (Maybe I'm thinking only of the Crossmember) If anyone has an extra EA82 AT driveshaft, I'll take it. I've noticed this weird moaning around 25mph in the EA82, I've check wheel bearings, Axles, Axle stub bearings and the Carrier bearing. Nothing seems to have play in them. Its most noticeable right around 25mph, it is not the Transmission, its the same whether its in 2nd or 3rd gear, Neutral and coasting the noise is still there. I've got to think it is the Bighorns, perhaps how they are wearing. I swapped the fronts to the back last year as the sides were getting a little rounded in the front dude to Camber. So I dunno. I wish I had another set of tires/wheels to toss on the car, drive it around the block and see if the noise is gone. (Scott, give me your Grabbers for 20min) I don't want to drive the EA82 to MI if I having a failing bearings somewhere. How often do the diff bearings fail? All my gear oil is fresh and clean as are all fluids.
  10. Yep, both diffs should have the same ratio. As for Legacy ratios, '95-'99 5spd Legacy L had 3.9 gears
  11. I'm not looking into getting a portal media blaster, I think this will be a better way to clean rusted parts and prep them for recoat.
  12. I have never used any type of Media blaster, so, how quickly do you go thru Sand, Beads, ect? I just imagine Sand pouring out lol. Suppose I should look it up on youtube.
  13. Hmm.... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Portable-Air-Sandblaster-Gun-Tools-Blaster-Gravity-Feed-/290548637148?pt=Sanders_Sandblasters&hash=item43a60c5ddc#ht_2218wt_871
  14. I really need to invest in a Sand Blaster, sure beats wire wheeling all my parts. I wonder how plastic beads would have done vs Sand?
  15. LMAO! You go man, you go! The stuff looks good recoated. Did you blast them? I suppose they weren't all that rusty to begin with..?
  16. I would like to know what the deal is with the Power Steering reservoir on the Left side of the screen!?
  17. You will have to go by Model number sticker on the transmission to determine the diffs ratio. Marshall, only Automatic Legacys had 4.11 gears. All Manual Legacys have 3.9 gears. 1996-'99 Outback Autos have 4.44, Manual Outbacks have 4.11
  18. Suppose I could post some photos from the Last Don Miller event. I wasn't able to take as many pictures as I should have.
  19. I don't know te torque off hand, but just tighten it down with a 1/2" drive ratchet/breaker bar. When I did the struts in the Legacy I just torqued it up to my liking. The only think I follow torque specs to would be Head gaskets.
  20. That rack looks good! Waiting to see how you mount it up
  21. We mainly have a thread on DI which has well over 7,000 posts, this one gets forgotten about and such, and then there was drama ect. Now its back! Viola!
  22. I could have had a complete useful post! But now, its nothing, because I forgot about its location! Thats it, delete all my posts, they are useless Anyway enough BS, yes its in the transmission tunnel, 2 12mm or 14mm bolts hold it in place. The bolt thread pitch is 1.25 on those
