lift or trim the fenders?
2" is all you need (And will be the cheapest) SJRLift.com has kits, user name is "Scott In Bellingham". Bill Olmin used to make kits which were called (Boss) his user id is "The Beast I Drive" And no, a Brat kit will not work for a EA82, Brats and other EA81 bodied cars only use two bolts for the front struts, although I think the rear is the same. 45* degree bent brackets. 3" and up, and you will need to drop the engine and rear diff crossmembers to keep the axle geometry happy. And then add a longer steering joint and probably rad hoses and such. 2" is your best bet for a DD and a weekend project.

lift or trim the fenders?
With no lift, you are going to have some good rubbing issues with the tops of the fenders, going over train tracks, Driveways ect. Some lift is needed for anything bigger then 24" if I remember right. I have Zero rubber with my 2" lift and 27" tires, even at full lock and compression (Maybe a little with the plastic fender liner) but thats it. Here is a picture with 26.3" tires and no lift, did not drive well.

Not exactly a "tech" question, but.......
Price depends on where in the country the person lives, Us out in the Mid-west would pay $2000+ for a clean well running/driving old gen Subaru, because we don't have many here anymore as they rotted away from neglect. Out in on the West coast the price would be lower cause they have so many out there. Some people give away Subarus for FREE out there! A lot of people don't like the Turbo EA82 motor, as the heads like to crack and blow HGs. But I think with decent treatment and low boost, it would be just a fine motor. You are also in the write spot for this thread -Tom

Internal Timing gearing, and stronger head casts I suppose.

Here here! This guy is now my best friend... Lol. I'd driven an SPFI EA82 for 6 years, and never had ONE issue ever. Simple upkeep and its a happy motor. Shes slow with the 3AT, but who cares, I can go almost anywhere.

EA81s had Hydro lifters in 1984 on the Automatics, on Manuals the EA81 got Hydro lifters in 1985-up

What is so special about the Justy? An Inline-3 cyl (Suzuki/Geo made the same thing) and a failing CVT for an Auto trans? If I wanted a 1000kg hatch back with 4WD, I'd just buy a Yugo.

Haha, in a way it looks cool. But I dunno, not a fan. I like the wheels on the red Camero, the center stays stationary while the vehicle moves, looks trippy

Finally! Back in a Subaru.
That is how they used to make white walls back in the day (If you didn't buy white walls) time consuming as hell haha. I talked to a dude who did it on his old Ford back when he was a teen. Tires look good James!

Official 6-Lug Re-drill Thread: Now in the USRM!
I know there was a thread around here, where some guy did full WRX running gear on a Brat. I'm sure someone will know what I'm talking about.

Wilcox, this is what I am going for with the Ski wagon

Official 6-Lug Re-drill Thread: Now in the USRM!
The main reason I am going with 16" Trailer wheels is I can get a new set of 4 shipped to my door for $250, Try finding any other wheels you can get that cheaply new and shipped. Plus they'll just look boss on the Ski wagon! Toyota wheels are nice, I have a set of 6-lug 15" Alloys on my Landcruiser. I really like that style of wheel ('91-'92 Landcruiser) '93-'97 had a different style. I also want to say the first gen 4-runners had these wheels as well. Post some pics once you get your done!

bonvos datsun 610 "michelle"
That actually looks really good for rattle can, ACE rattle can at that! It looks fairly even and well coated, some over spray, but you are always gonna have that with the narrow spray pattern of an Aerosol. Looks good man, props! -Tom

My '83 GL: The Ski Wagon
Pooparu makes the Ski decals so I've heard. As for the bottom rocker decal, that would be pretty easy to make in a matching blue vinyl with the lettering cutouts. I will measure the original, and then send you the measurements sometime. Going nuts with the decal making now eh? Awesome!

Agreed, it is probably larger. But I bet the Gen-III Leone will be over looked. The EA82 was also over looked in this video. It seems as the Legacy and Impreza was Subarus benchmark, mainly because of the WRC, I guess. I am discussed with the absence of the EA82. Video:

They never include the EA82 wagon into their lineup. Its always the RX. But they have a Legacy wagon?

My '83 GL: The Ski Wagon
This is my idea once I get the body work all done and the Ski decal remade. I am going to replace "SUBARU AN AMERICAN COMPANY" With this: Not necessarily this font, but perhaps "Impact" font.

My '83 GL: The Ski Wagon
I've seen a bit of the custom Radio surrounds people do using wood, some turn out well, some not so much. CD players existed in 1983, why Subaru didn't put one in this car is beyond me. Haha! :-p Anyway, I got the bumper ends from SuperBrat Monday. They look good. I cleaned them up and are ready to install once the bumper goes on. I am also finishing up on floor tube welding and will then assess the rockers once they arrive. I have a pretty good idea on how I'm going to go about it. Better picture of the new hood.
