Double Swing outs and Steel bumper.- My '83 GL: The Ski Wagon
Good to know, I plan on adding some weight to the rear of this wagon once I make my own Steel bumper w/ Swing outs. So a stiffer shock shouldn't hurt for the mean time. GR-2s are great! I had them with Forester springs on my Legacy, it handled like a flippin' track car!- My '83 GL: The Ski Wagon
I am also going to install KYB Gas-A-Just in the rear. Anyone else running these Dampers? Pros/Cons? Like/Don't like? Let me have it- How large of tire can I put on a stock 86 BRAT?
Any tire over 26" with out a lift and you will need to trim the fenders a little (Might still have to on compression stroke) You can trim the fenders and make them look very nice, can't even tell most of the time.- 1984 GL Wagon Fwd Build
Nice jumper wire!- My '83 GL: The Ski Wagon
Indeed. The help ones where a little big and would not clip into the hole and press flush, but I ground them down and it fit perfect and worked. Headlights are not reassembled. I also got the fuel tank up today, I used Stainless bolts, washers and lock washers. Thread pitch is 1.25. I need to route some lines, and add the overflow line, I forgot to put it on. So the tank must come down a little. I also need to remove the filler neck, clean it up and then reinstall with stainless. New bent lines: Bought a new bender at Harbor Freight, this one is pretty nice and easy to use. $5. 2nd headlight assembled. Oh look! I got the rockers today... This car might be running before the weekend.- Looking for an EA81....for Fiat 500 swap..
David, very cool! I've seen people put Subaru EA81s and EJ22s in old Beatles, but never in a 500! That thing will cook. Make sure when you are ready to do the swap, to make a thread somewhere, I'd like to see the build! As for differences in engine, '81-'83 EA81 will have Solid Lifters, the 1984 EA81 Automatics had Hydro lifters, the Manual trans cars didn't get hydro lifters till 1985. W.o.w- Who Has One of These?
Ah, I didn't think of boat grab bars! That might work. Lol, even the Push bar isn't going to stop much, these cars aren't made to take a hit. The little chrome bar would only be for looks Plus I don't plan on hitting anything or one. I do like that skid plate as well, and the Factory Fogs (Which I found a set on Ebay) but they are in Jpn. Are those also Blinker indicators on top of the fenders!? Also has Headlight washers? I want this Saloon!- My '83 GL: The Ski Wagon
Tom, good man. Will do. I will also check out the Help section. Cheers! PS: I got the Rockers today! Very complete wow.- Who Has One of These?
I ran across this picture of a JDM Sedan, and noticed it has a little accent bar on top of the bumper. Does anyone have one of these? I bet its a super rare JDM part, but figured I would post it up and see what I get.- The Awesome Older Generation Picture Thread

I wonder how he gets them to ship to North America? Everyone I talked to in AU does not want to ship to the U.S (I think their giving me the bobbins)- The Awesome Older Generation Picture Thread
Indeed. There doesn't seem to be much for old Subaru parts on the Ebay.jp? WTF. Plus, I can't ready half of anything lol.. Maybe I'll try ebay.au- My '83 GL: The Ski Wagon
Went out in the garage tonight and started bending up some new Fuel lines, turned out pretty good (Using an old school bender, not one of the fancy new ones) Hopefully I'll remember where which ones go where, One line seems to have a check valve on it or something. I'll take some pictures tomorrow.- My '83 GL: The Ski Wagon
I ordered a set of these, once I get them, I will make my decision if I'm to buy another set. http://www.ebay.com/itm/370548744787?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649#ht_3242wt_1010- My '83 GL: The Ski Wagon
I also need one of those white clips that Angle adjusting screw threads into. I broke one. Does any auto store carry these in stock? Or do I really need to drive 20miles and get one from the junkyard?- Is this the END for my 86 Subaru XT????
$450 isn't to bad considering where you live, how scarce parts are, and the point you got the complete assembly. I paid $200 for Rockers and a Fuel tank, and I was up to $400 in final total after shipping, so don't feel bad Your old crossmember isn't to bad really, except for the crack, but that does look weldable (Possibly keep that as a spare for your self or someone else who needs one) Getting you old bolts out shouldn't be bad, they come out pretty easy even on very rusty cars, plus they are 17mm and aren't lucky to break. Cheers.- My '83 GL: The Ski Wagon
Has anyone ran Crystal clear headlights on their GL? I'd like to see a picture if so.- The Awesome Older Generation Picture Thread
Where does one get the accent bar for the bumper?- My '83 GL: The Ski Wagon
Headlight buckets. Before: After: Assembled: I do need to get 4 matching headlights though, these are just temp.- What Have You Done to your Soobie lately? (Please post in here and keep it going)
Not unless you want your whole strut and knuckle to be pushed into the cab wall.- My '83 GL: The Ski Wagon
Very cool James, if you do pick up the whole car, or just parts, I will be going to Tom Redmonds place some weekend in July, So if the fenders or anything like that is good, I could possibly pick them up by then!- What size roll pin.
Its very possible. The wheel bearing could be damaged though, When you are putting pressure on the wheel, is it pushing everything together, when you are letting off the pressure by turning the other way, the wheel is being pulled outwards which would cause a more noticable knock. - My '83 GL: The Ski Wagon
