  1. You see that guido, See your future, Be your future, Make Maaaaake your future. And just be the ball. NANANANANANANA
  2. When we live on the other side of the world i will call soccer football. And yes the pigskin is about to fly. You never did say you were N.
  3. Im in as long as its on a sunday, dont want to miss saturday football:grin:
  4. No i understand that, i guess my problem with the whole thing was. I dont half to pay that but he doesnt need to sell it for that much. Not my business, i agree. But whose going to pay that much for a vehicle you cant use. And that will most likely end up at the junkyard for the price im offering him right now. But beyond that deal, bheinen and i live in the same state. Just the prices for some of these vehicles are rediculious. But if its something you want and the guys not willing to budge for his (gem). Its frustrating. Especially when your not getting much for what you pay for.
  5. Maybe folks from other states without rust problems dont understand. Why would i pay more then 500 bucks for a vehicle i can see the pavement through the floorboard. Why would i pay more then a couple hundred bucks for a car that has fire damage. If i go out to the westcoast ill gladly spend around 700 bucks for a decent rust free car. But here in our junkyards its not the engines that go on these. Its the rustedout subframes. Just buy the way i think about things i could get myself to sell my car for more then 700 bucks. Its not worth it even though ive got more into it then that. Its the principal of things.
  6. Forget about the 450dollar subaru. LOOOOOOOOOOOK at the craigslist ads in the beginning of the thread. Rusted out cars going for a premium. That is what im talking about. And yea this subaru was rust free but it wasnt a gem buy any strech.
  7. My money is worth more then yours because my lack there of. I dont have xtra money for 4 cars. I try to make due with what i have and get deals when i can. So when i see a shotty dealership who probally picked up this car for 50 bucks at an insurance wholesaler because THERE WAS A FIRE IN THE BACKSEAT. I tend to think that 450 is alittle high for a vehicle that has a inch of soot inside the car and 2inches of dust outside. I never ask for more then what something is worth. The whole point was to see what others are paying for end of life cars in your area. I still think these are to high. And if thats the case then im going to try and sell mine for 1500 and see where that gets me because mine is no more worse off then these are.
  8. Just curious as to what prices your paying for some cars in your area. To be more specific, i think the whole iowa car market is way inflated. I offered the guy 1oo bucks for a 88dl 2wd wagon and he said no, he could get 250 at the scrap yard. I was like, no you couldnt my friend turned in an 88 caprice estate wagon the other day and only got 100 bucks for it. My point is lots of vehicles id be interested in buying are lots more then they are in other parts of the country. Here are some examples. http://desmoines.craigslist.org/cto/1321576929.html http://desmoines.craigslist.org/cto/1321386509.html http://desmoines.craigslist.org/ctd/1321040274.html I duno maybe im just being picky.
  9. Just seemed so nice since it was rust free. Maybe next year ill pall out there with mcbrat or bheinen74 and drive one back. I think im going to pass on this one. I need a really good daily driver to replace this so i can take my time fixing whats wrong.
  10. Even if it was alittle rusty underneath it would still make a decent driver. I agree i dont really want to dig into anything biger then i half to but 100 bucks isnt much for a low miles engine and nice clean straight rust free body parts.
  11. And dont ever spout that filth again.
  12. Actuallly what i was thinking is this other one would be a perfect daily driver. Provideing it runs and drives. Then that gives me the opportunity to take guido off the road and dare i say, Lift< , and put in the dual range. If it was a 5 speed it wouldnt be a contest because i know how shotty the autos were. Mick is right, there arent that many of these floating around here like this. Little to no rust with under 100k. If i can get him to part with it for 100 bucks im doin it. The interior wasnt bad. Only damage was to the back seat. Nothing a good cleaning cant fix. It is a DL though which means no options (again). But to find a near rust free carcus around here is really something.
  13. not sure, theres a basketball size hole where the backseat is and thats the only damage, the doorpanel is fine. Just the headliner has some soot.
  14. Ok so i found this subaru wagon today. 1988 Subaru DL. 88 k. NO rust, zip zero nada. 3 problems. 1 its an auto, 2 its 2wd, 3 there was a small fire in the backseat so that will need replace and the headliner and other interior bits will need cleaned up. My question is how hard is the 4wd conversion and do you think its worth it. Hes askin 450 but i thought of offering him 100. Pretty nice looking but it is a dl and non 4wd so its like whats the point ya know. Any ideas. Ben
  15. Dude your wheel is on the wrong side.
  16. Kinda hard to test it on a junkyard engine which i cant start, but i like your enthusiasm. I was leaning more twards if the ends were coroded or something.
  17. Going to the junkyard today. I figured id pull this from one of the cars and test it out on mine. 2 questions. 1 where the heck is it on the motor, and 2 how do i know if its a good one. Ben
  18. unless some mud got wedged up into certain areas. I have complete faith in my subaru service mickual:) that i can remove these and replace if necessary. My problem is i dont want to do these every couple of years. Tires are ok, wheelbearings have been checked and are ok, struts are probally bad and i know the alignment is off. But still were talking about a car that does about 5k a year. I dont remember what brand the ones we put on were but i know they werent moog.
  19. IM no ase certified mechanic but all i know is the parts me and mick replaced a few years ago is riped on the driverside and i can see metal on the passanger side, so yea pretty sure the tie rod isnt the total problem right now.
  20. I had the lower ball joints replaced a couple years ago. Only about 5k has been put on the car since then and upon looking for a noise yesterday i notice that the passanger side is torn just like it was before and the drivers side isnt to much better. I have faith in the person who helped me install it:grin: But im curious if theres some other reason this could happen so quickly. Ben
  21. Getting ready to take in a bike like this. Needs lots of work though.
  22. give it to meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  23. Seriously if your looing for things to do with your rusty ss. We could always swap the drivetrain into my car. I mean since you would just rather destroy it, it could live on in my car.
  24. Brents got a lifted brat he shouldnt have a problem. I still have mud under my car from june. I think what brent is saying mick is that he doesnt want his brat to end up looking like yours )
