My Impreza wagon Died in PA
Is it the one in your sig pic, black impreza wagon? If you decide not to fix it, I'd be interested in buying it.

Mass Air Flow Sensor?
subaru360 replied to JStamberg's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXWith the engine running, spray some carb cleaner around all the hoses and see if the idle goes up.

Mass Air Flow Sensor?
subaru360 replied to JStamberg's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVX2.7 g/s is low. You might have a hose off on the intake ducting between the mass airflow sensor and the throttle body or a vacum leak. If all that looks good and the wiring looks good it's probably a bad sensor.

Does anyone know what model this is?
That's a Sambar van. I don't know the year but that's a newer one probably less than 10 years old. They are neat I wish we could get them here in the US, I'd buy one. The last vans here were the 68-70 360 vans.

'70 FF1 Coupe JY N/E Calif.
That is a great price. I'd buy it if I wasn't on the wrong side of the country. Even with cross country shipping it would still be a deal. Well maybe if it ran, the shippers kill you on price if it doesnt run. I'll watch this thread to see what happend with it.

free 96 OBW should I give up Loyale?
subaru360 replied to sublute's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThe 360 is a great little car. I use it for exactly what is was designed for. Short trips around town, taking kids to school, the store etc. I think that's correct about '96 only has hydraulic lifters. I've had a '97 EJ25 apart and that had shims to adjust valve clearance.

free 96 OBW should I give up Loyale?
subaru360 replied to sublute's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXIt's just a suggestion. I've found it to be cheaper to replace EJ25's with EJ22's than to repair the EJ25. How can you go wrong for $100 plus fluids and a few hours of your time? All you stand to lose is $100 and your time. When I go to the u pull it yard, I only buy engines from cars that have been crashed. Most likely the car was running well at the time of the crash. I go to harry's u pull it here in PA a lot and they spray paint a big "R" on the windshield of the cars that ran ok when they came in.

free 96 OBW should I give up Loyale?
subaru360 replied to sublute's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXTake the 10mm bolt off the a/c line on the firewall and it will give you more slack in the line to get the engine out past the compressor. You might want to think about replacing the EJ25 with a used EJ22. I personally wouldn't put a lot of time and money into a questionable engine, that's been overheated. Around here you can get a good EJ22 at the U pull it yards for $100. The full service yards sell them as low as $300-400. 95 is a direct swap and 96-98 you just need the y-pipe from the car you get the engine out of.

Exhaust Leak/Replacement Legacy
subaru360 replied to henry_rap's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXIt's really common for the flange to rust away. Especially the one on the second convertor. It's an easy fix with a repair flange. Most any parts store can get them for under $10. If you need a y pipe I have several used dual port ones that will fit. I can sell you one for $20, I'm not that far from allentown. I might have convertors for sale also, I will know for sure in a week or so.

Correct me if i`m wrong: 95 ej22 into 98 forester
subaru360 replied to 75subie's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI've done this swap 4 times. If you get an EJ22 with egr everything plugs in. Even without EGR it all plugs in you just get a CEL. If you get one without EGR and you grab the ECU as well it won't have a CEL and will pass inpection in states where all they do is plug in to the car The new ECU won't be looking for an EGR, all the OBD2 monitors will set and the EGR monitor will come up N/A. Obviously it will fail a visual, but if you got an underhood sticker without egr you might be ok there. You can use a 96-98 EJ22 if you get the single port y pipe when you get the engine. The ej25 p/s lines don't line up with the ej22 intake. I just let it go, never had a problem, but if you're picky you can either make a bracket or swap to ej22 lines. Be sure to swap flexplates if it's an auto the EJ22 one is smaller. The only problem I ever had with an EJ25 to EJ22 swap was once I swapped ECU's and the car I got the donor ECU from had some odd emissions maybe california? It had a fuel temp sensor. So I had to swap fuel tank sending units and run a wire to the ECU.

99 Forester EJ22 swapable?
Check and see how many bolts hold the engine to the trans. I think it was somewhere in '99 subaru went to 8 from 4. When junkyard shopping, just get one with the same bolt pattern with egr if you have it. Some people like the 95 for ej 25 to ej22 swaps because 95 ej22 is dual port. But if you just grab the y-pipe from the car you get the ej22 from , you can use 96 up engines also. All the wiring and hoses are the same and it will run fine with the ej25 computer, I do a lot of these swaps. Oh and be sure to swap the flexplates, the ej22 one is smaller.
