  1. 92 loyale, 270k miles. original engine and tranny (i think). only major things are the usual timing belts and a new clutch recently. daily driver (all city, so crap mileage: 25 highway, 17 city). has problems though, bucks like mad after long drives. don't know what the deal is. i'm thinking maybe some really worn piston rings.
  2. i take it that you have never seen the movie "office space". that cover sheet bit is from that movie
  3. haven't checked the plugs lately, don't have a plug wrench with me here at school, but i'll be able to check them this weekend. never had anyone following me when it was doing this to check on the smoke, plus an engine with 268k miles on it might smoke a little anyway i'm kinda ignorant as to what a TPS is. what is it and does it require one of the new cover sheets?
  4. yeah, i replaced the fuel filter about 1000 miles ago on one of my earlier attempts to fix this problem. I've also taken off the airflow meter and examined it and it seems ok. If the O2 sensor is constantly reading lean it could be causing a few cylinders to flood when I stomp the pedal (under load or accelerating) Could that cause the symptoms i described?
  5. well, now that my easier problems with my 92 loyale have been solved, how about some help with the trickier one? from time to time, on acceleration or at highway speeds (70 mph+), the engine bucks on me a bit. some times really lightly(3000 rpm and up on the highway), other times it bucks like crazy (usually around 2000 rpm). this usually only happens after i've driven at higher speeds recently (past few days) and then disapates. the error codes i get from the computer are... 11 - crank angle sensor or circuit 13 - cam position angle or circuit 23 - air flow meter or circuit 32 - oxygen sensor or circuit also, everything seems to be fine when i first start up and the engine is cold (before sensors warm up and turn on, so the computer is using default values). I have an O2 sensor that I could install as a place to start. any other ideas???
  6. 268k on my 92 loyale. runs ok but has problems. anyway, drunk now, so back to forum later
  7. make sure the rubbers in your glove box are still good. Never know who you'll meet on a road trip
  8. my 92 loyale is going strong at 268k miles. 5sp push-button 4wd
  9. put a small crack in my passenger side headlight cover the other day when i tried to blast through some snow in a parking lot so i could get into the space (turned out to be REALLy hard snow). GTS is the only place i've found that makes replacement ones here is the site
  10. 6'2" but scrawny as hell at 150 lbs. long rump roast legs like to hit my steering wheel from time to time but nothing major (92 loyale)
  11. remmington eh? i'm actually from opal. I've seen that brat around, it's pretty cool
  12. warrenton va? thats where i'm from! but my subbie is red and not lifted and i'm away at college in harrisonburg and i wouldn't ever be up that early. But i do think i've seen the one you're talking about from time to time
  13. Anyone know if i can get a bolt-on turbo or maybe just a blower to put in my 92 loyale? also what would installation involve
  14. my 92 loyale gets cruddy mileage too (268k miles). when it finally dries off enough here that i can get underneath it (averaging 4 inches of snow a week), i'm going to replace the o2 sensor. If the o2 sensor is constantly showing a lean mixture, then the computer would keep making the mixture too rich thus ruining your mileage. right now i'm getting like 16 city, 24 highway. but I also tend to keep my foot in it pretty good
  15. also make sure the wire from the coil to the disty is connected well. the coil is on the driver side. there is a rubber boot that seals around the wire and it goes into the top of the distributor. another thing to check is whether or not you twisted the distributor while you were doing the tune up. if you did, it changed the timing which would cause the engine not to start. the timing on the 92 loyale should be 20 degrees before top dead center. the timing marks are viewable by removing the spare and the timing mark cover (black rubber cover) on the top of the back of the engine.
  16. I had the opposite problem a couple weeks ago with my 92 loyale, the 4wd wouldn't disengage. turned out the vacuum connections on the passenger side came undone. trace the tube from the white cylinder on the passenger side behind the firewall and make sure all the connections are tight. if they are, start the engine and listen for a vacuum leak by running your fingers along the hose and listening for a change in the sound.
  17. I've got a 92 with 5 speed and push-button 4wd. It's around 3100 at 65 in 5th so in 4th, i'd probably be around 4k too. as for the temp, mine always stays in the bottom 3rd of the gauge. I actually got worried the one time it got close to half and dicovered that i had a slow coolant leak as for the vents, what you have there is a 4-way dial switch. if there is a bunch of gunk that has worked its way inside the switch (into the electronics) that could be causing your problem (no current getting to the motor). you might try just taking the switch apart and cleaning the electodes with some rubbing alcohol
  18. you guys were right, vacuum hoses were shaken loose in the engine compartment. out of 4wd and vents work perfectly now!
  19. i guess that'll teach me to play too hard in the snow. no more donuts in the parking area for my poor little soob. Thanks for all the help guys.
  20. latrobe PA eh skip??? you a fan of the old 33? anyway, i knew all that stuff about jumping, my neighbor is just a retard who will never again be trusted with my car. after that moment, my vent selector on my climate control stopped working too, everything is the center and side vents, no floor, no defrost. probably gonna have to rip out the dash to find out wtf is wrong with them. any suggestions on that?
  21. push-button style 4WD will not disengage. problem started after my nighbor tried to use my car to jump his but he connected the cables wrong (+ to + and - to - instead of + to + and - to frame) any idea how i can force it back into FWD?
