Headgasket for ej22/ej25 hybrid?
They have part numbers over on NABISCO. Search for "frankenstein" and authors Storm or Matt Monson. They go into a lot of depth. Jacob

VIDEO: Has your EJ22 smoked this much?
renob123 replied to renob123's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXIf some exhaust valves burn out, will the car keep driving? I just need it for one more rallyx, then that EJ22 is a boat anchor, as far as I'm concerned. Jacob

renob123 replied to renob123's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXNope, no kitties in this car. The buzzing is a lack of kitty, eBay header, and STI muffler. I looked at the PCV, and it was fine. I replaced the valve anyway, and it didn't help. Jacob

renob123 replied to renob123's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI looked at the plugs about 2 weeks ago when I started noticing problems. They looked pretty new. Just a little white buildup on one. The rest were clean. Jacob

renob123 replied to renob123's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI'm pretty sure it's oil. The coolant is green and ample. I put in a quart or two every thousand miles, if I had to guess. It just started doing it bad two weeks ago, and I haven't driven it much since. Jacob

VIDEO: Has your EJ22 smoked this much?
This is a video of my EJ-swapped Brat. I never noticed it smoking this much before. I've been racing it in rallyx, so it sees more abuse than most. If you've had yours smoking like this, what did it end up being? Thanks. Jacob

Odd Coil Spring Pricing at Dealership
I was thinking maybe the parts database assumes all turbos had AC and all non-turbos came without AC. I don't think that's the case, though, since my non-turbo has that sticker on the dash saying it's ready for AC. Jacob

That's possible, but how do they tell them apart? Jacob

Saw an '83 coupe convertible today.
That's pretty cool. I was just thinking of those today for some reason. It would be interesting to have one. Jacob

Odd Coil Spring Pricing at Dealership
I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on this for me: These pics are off of the Lithia Subaru parts website. All are for front coil springs for a Brat. I can see different prices in '84 for turbo/nonturbo springs, but I don't know why they're so different between the years. Any ideas? Are they actually different aside from the turbo/non? Here's '84 Brat: '85 Brat: '86 Brat: Thanks. Jacob P.S. Anyone following that Russian spy story? I'd like to either understand the spring difference, or understand WTF Russia was thinking (assuming these people are actual spies) today.

Looking for suggestions on 85 BRAT
Well, how long do you intend to have that motor in there? With an impending EJ swap, I'm not sure if it's worth the trouble. Is it eating a quart of oil every 5 miles? Jacob

Anyone ever EA swaped a legacy ?
He could swap the engine and trans from each car into the other though, I bet. I don't see how it's worth the effort, but one of the things I like about the USMB is that nobody tells you something's impossible, they just say how much time/money it will take to do. Jacob

Weber carb question
Since he says he's in the UK, yes, that could be a dumb assumption:lol: tomtomtom, Is it going into that wagon in the other picture on imageshack? The directions on ausubaru are for a 1981 ea81, so don't be surprised if it's a different size/shape. Jacob

EA81 Master Cylinder/Booster Upgrade?
I saw some on Summit a few days ago. I couldn't tell from the picture if it would stick out too far. Too bad I don't have anyone to hand-deliver them from their warehouse anymore... Jacob

Any luck with Brat calipers on rockauto?
With no USMB to peruse, I decided to put these new calipers on. The brackets they sent don't fit. They have the wrong size hole for the bolts to go through. Fortunately, I was able to reuse my existing brackets. Here they are on the Brat. So yes, these ones do fit vented EA81 rotors. I hate having spare parts after a brake job... Jacob

EA81 Master Cylinder/Booster Upgrade?
Did you have any trouble getting the hardlines to fit the hole on the driver's side of the MC? Mine is right next to the strut tower. I bought some longer hardlines and bent them into place, but that one on the side was a pain. Jacob

Performance Headers: EJ22 N/A.
renob123 replied to TheLoyale's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXDo '95 y-pipes have the cat as part of the "y" or as a separate piece? Jacob

Nice. Did they fit on the stock rotors? Jacob

Any luck with Brat calipers on rockauto?
They're not fancy Brembos like yours, but yeah, they're vented:) I thought that would be the case, given how different the widths were. Jacob

Any luck with Brat calipers on rockauto?
Thanks Rob. I'm not into measuring things, but last night I pulled my front right wheel off and managed to slide the caliper (with pads installed) over the rotor. I had about 1/8" or so of clearance. There should be no clearance at all if I got the wrong calipers, right? Jacob

EJ22 swap.... HELP!!!
When you're taking out the wiring harness, make sure to do it in the way that's in the writeup. The harness I got had been cut in order to remove, which made it a pain for ShawnW to strip down and fix. You're supposed to remove the fender instead. He ended up making it work perfectly in the end, though. Before committing to using the AWD transmission, be sure that it's the best transmission (subject to price constraints, of course) for what you plan on doing with the car. Jacob

Performance Headers: EJ22 N/A.
renob123 replied to TheLoyale's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI put mine on last night. I have an EJ22 in a Brat. I put on the driver's side first. The passenger side was about 1/2 inch off, but the header flexes enough to slide it on. I thought I was hitting the oil filter at first (generic filter from NAPA, BTW), but it was an optical illusion from where I was under the car. It bends around, and it also bends down under the filter a little. I have decent clearance on all dimensions. It came with gaskets that I didn't use since I have dealer gaskets. Also included were about 8 nuts and 8 bolts. I used 2 of the bolts, and I'm not really clear on what the others are for. I also used 2 of the nuts (for the bolts), but they're the wrong thread pitch for the exhaust studs. Given the included hardware, I'm not sure what they think we're doing with these things. Jacob
