Hello subie community! I’m new to this and need some help. I have a 09 wrx and saw a guy on nasioc post his lifted 09 wrx up for sale. In the description he said he used 2012 forester struts. I tried contacting him about the lift but no reply. So I just decided to just dive in and see if it would work. Haha not the brightest decision. I got the front passenger strut in But had to pry the control arm down a ways for it to line up. Also unbolted my sway bar to allow for more drop but my concern is the cv has a bit of an angle to it. Did the same on the driver side and with all my night I couldn’t get the bolt holes to line up. Worried that it’s not correct or I need to do something else for it to be right. Has anyone else lifted an 09+ this way? Just need a bit of input. Thank you for any help on the subject.
It's really too much lift to be reliable on the newer models. To lift that, it would be best to get an actual lift kit. I recommend andersondesignfab.com

Found this thread after doing a search on google, that answered my questions.

How did you route the cables? Where did you have them exit the car through the floor?
-
Yep, after talking to a couple other people, I found that to be the case. I actually tried sending you a message before posting this, but it said you cant accept messages.

Havent been on here much, but I'm trying to find out what's needed to run the nissan rear calipers on an ea82 car. The ones with the mechanical e brake hook up. I have a set, and planned on using them on my gl-10 since I converted to 5 lug, but it doesnt seem like the cables are long enough. Or there very well could be something I'm missing. I figured someone would know on here. Thanks ahead of time.

Anyone else here remember Bill Hincher?
Yeah, I wonder if he is still making adapters.

On 720 Nissan PUs VIN plate is on passenger side of engine compartment. Lower RH corner has diff info. RB39 or RB41 is what you're looking for
Nissan used RC for R200 diffs & RB for R180 diffs in most '80s-'90s vehicles.
Unfortunately, anything that old is long gone around here, even in junk yards. Which makes it more difficult, because of getting a transfer case with the shifter and driveshafts.

There's other on here looking to do the same thing bratman18, like alexbuoy.
And myself later after EJ conversion is finally done. Already have a Nissan Xfer case & driveshafts.
There's a thread somewhere here in past that talks about moving lower x-member forward 2 inches.
I appreciate you finding those posts! I havent been able to find anything, and I've searched. It looks as though that front diff mount is mounted solid, is that correct? Looks like I need to find a transfer case with shifter and driveshafts attached, so I have a starting point.

Search some build threads from members above link - you may find what you need to know.
Yeah, I've spent hours searching this topic. Some info here and there, but no pictures.
-
Also, what transfer case did you use?
-
Yeah, I have a 6 inch lift, but only have 4 inch subframe spacers etc. Was hoping to not go bigger on those. How does your engine sit in the cradle? Did you still have the engine crossmember spaced down, or is that in it's normal spot, and the diff mounted under that? Thank you!

Who has pics, and info on how to do this. I have a general idea, but would love to see some pics. Even if it's on an ea81 car. Thanks ahead of time.

The 4eat transmission is tough. You won't have any issues running big tires.
-
Different model year ranges have different lengths. And different models as well. Legacy is different length than impreza and forester.
-
nope, as long as they're both auto or both manual, they're the same length.Companies make one piece driveshafts - look up what years/models they fit and see if it includes the ones you’re asking about.
If you did mean a “1998 one piece forester” driveshaft I think Phase II transmissions have different length transmissions and driveshafts.
-
As long as they're the same transmission. Like both auto or both manual. That dictates the length of the driveshaft.
-
You need from the ecu, through the dash to the steering column, and then out to where it plugs into the engine harness.

They're not camber correct. Better to spend a bit more money and get a good kit from someone like Andersondesign-fab.com

And this just leaves me wondering, is ADF selling snake oil with the adjustable links?
Definitely not. Sometimes when lifting, the stock plastic endlinks don't hold up to the extra stress. Along with the fact they are at a harder angle do to their length. The adjustable ones just allow you to retain endlinks, and not have to worry about them breaking.

Yeah, to be honest,I don't run a rear sway bar on any of my lifted cars and I'm lifted more than forester struts. You won't roll it over. It just has more body roll.

I know at least in my area, no one buys factory remain axles, so it's not something we ever see.Subaru "factory reman" axles are not green. They are not aftermarket.
