Oh, theres no coolant in the oil or vice versa? so, wouldn't that show up if a hg is gone? I dunno. It still drives good, has power and everything...just weird... of course it does have 250xxx miles on it...lol. any help on all three issues would be most apprecitated. Ok, after searching the forum. I'll do the check for bubbles in the overflow tank after a good warm up by idleing it up to around 2500 rpm. Also i'll get a new radiator cap.
-
Ok, so the overflow tank is filling up on my 1995 Impreza. I've had no overheating problems. The guage is always on normal. The car does warm up pretty quick. I thought well the thermostat is stuck and therefore radiator is overheating and filling up the overflow tank? So, I put in a new thermostat filled the radiator there was fluid in the top hose as well as bottom, so i presume its flowing through the engine? I fill the overflow tank to appropriate level and drive. I have good heat in the car, temp guage is normal. After a week the overflow tank is full?? What is happening? Too much fluid? When I check the radiator I cannot see any fluid??? Is the radiator clogged?? I don't think so because when I filled it the lower hose had fluid in it. I could hear it gurgle down the coolant? Water pump isn't making any sounds, there isn't any leaking anywhere?? Is the temp sensor bad??? god I hate to replace that its such a bugger to get to. In addition, anyone have a throttle position sensor for a 2.2 engine? and I'm looking for a T-connector from the air intake and block to the pcv valve?? Cannot find one anywhere??

There arn't specifics on the CarFax report. I don't know either if it was rearended or it rearended someone. I don't think it was to severe as there is no odd rust under the front or back. I also didn't see any misaligned panels or components. I'm assuming it was a backup and bump into another vehicle situation, hopefully the bumper took most of the impact. Yea the oil changes have been kept up, at some service station according to the sticker in the upper left of windshield. Oil looked clean and smelled clean also. I'll let it sit for awhile longer and see if i can get him to come down from 3500 with the carfax info. yea I can prolly look at doing the tb and wp on both vehicles....especially on my 95 impreza... it could definately use a tb and prolly water pump.

Yes, you can include valve gaskets, front main, Oil filter loose?, Oil input tube seal....any other place's? Mine lose's/burns oil also...Its hard to see where cuz of the mess...I dunno it keeps on driving and I keep on checking the oil every other day. 248,xxx miles ...if your looking to get rid of it let me know, I need parts:grin:.

Ran the car fax and it's had 5 owners, 2 rear impact with another vehicle. Regular service up to 103,000. Is been in Alabama, Minnesota, California, and now Missouri....:-\ Well not terrible news, still maybe some leverage. I think I'll take your advice and see where it gets me. I'd still like to have the wagon though...its a nice ride.

Yea he's pretty stuck on 3500. I guess i wrote the vin down wrong I only have 16 caracters? need 17...bah! Then I'll get a carfax. Here are some pics though. he didn't have any info on any service being done at the 120xxx mark....bah. Also wasn't sure it was a single owner....bah! Its a real nice 96. They cleaned it well. All the cv boots looked good. The standard oil leak in rear of engine. rear valve gaskets, rear seal maybe? A new pass side ball joint, newer front struts maybe?...The screw in mounts looked brand new? Anyway hopefully the stars will align and I get my #3 Subaru and the 2nd to add to the stable. This will be my dd and the Impreza will be the rally-fun car. Oh and it doesnt' smell like cat piss on the inside! Like the forester next to it does.

Yea, the dealer said it was a single owner. And that they had just replaced the clutch. When I drove it it seem tight so that sounds to be true. I noticed some slack on the cable inside the engin compartment...may need a little tightening done. I'm gonna go take some pics and talk to him more about the 120xxx service and see if he has any records at all. I'll post back soon. I'll try and shoot 3200 at him but i'm pretty sure he's firm on 3500....we'll see

Ok so I found a 1996 outback for sale. Little dealer wants 4500....to much, I talked him down to 3500.... It has 147xxx miles on it and its clean with a clean ej22 5-speed man. Everything works except for interior dash lights which the dealer said he would "fix" before he sold it. Well I've always wanted an Outback and this seems like the one to get. Anything I should be aware of before I make the leap into my second subaru?

Great info! But I was getting a clunk sound every time I went in reverse and turned. I attributed it to a cv joint but was wrong. Yea I heard one could repair it pretty easily, but the cost was around the same as just getting a tranny. I got the (used)tranny (150xxx miles) plus install for around 750 bucks. Which I think was a good deal. Back to driving the car with only FWD. I did this for months in my Impreza. The only thing I was worried about was all the power going to the front wheels and damaging the front diff. somehow. It also sucked just having fwd...I felt inferior....:-\ lol. But it did still run just fine. I was also worried about any loose parts flyin around in the tranny. So, If you do drive it, just take it easy on her.

I haven't heard anything about them pulling out of Rally America? I hope not! I plan to see a #43 Monster car dominate again at 100acres wood rally here in MO this Febuary. There will also be a blue #200 Subaru there hopefully. Model off of NASCAR and their "fair" system to save smaller teams money and make it "more competitive" pffffft.....yea right LOL...not like someone hasn't dominated that arena either...can anyone say Jimmie Johnson?

ehhhh, I just got this problem fixed in my 95 Impreza...It was an internal component in the tranny which = tranny replacement. I guess I neglected the "torque bind" which eventually sheared the rear drive shaft internally in the rear of the tranny. More info below in previous posts. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=92194 http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=92341 Good luck, I hope you get it fix'ed.

My car has had the exact same symtoms. Only I have not had the windshield replaced. What I found it to be was the plastic molding seal on the air intake at the bottom of the windshield, on the passenger side, had separated from the window due to exposure and time. The rain runs down the window and then into this crack which leads to some wheres in the firwall and I assume puddles in the heater core area. When the car moved, i.e. going in reverse and stopping, the water would run out onto the passenger side floor. I've used electical tape to seal it. I have to replace it about once a year (looks like it needs to be replaced again). See pics.

I gave cobcob a set of those exact wheels....for free....well for helping me with some wrench turning.

Speaking of steering column u-joints. Is there an easy way to disconnect this joint and to straighten a steering wheel? Or is there an easier way? Just got done putting the rack in and the wheel is off about 90deg. The sears tire shop here in town were to scared to try and straiten it:confused: Any and all help would be most appreciated.

Ok, I found this tranny out of a 1996 Legacy wagon 2.2L. Does anyone know if it will work for my 1995 Impreza 2.2L ? I hope it will cuz its close and cheap and fairly low miles? http://http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Automatic-Transmission-1996-Subaru-Legacy-L-Wagon-2-2_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ72Q3a1205Q7c39Q3a1Q7c66Q3a2Q7c65Q3a12Q7c240Q3a1318QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem110291821010QQitemZ110291821010 Please tell me some good news. -

All right sounds like a plan. I located a tranny in lebanon for around 450.00. There was a couple of sites that I found one on that was cheaper but I lost the site. Someone listed it here but I failed to remember the site. it wasn't carparts.com it was another one....any help would be great. -

Thanks cocob and kingcrab. I believe john is correct though. My 2.2LX needs a 2.2 trans. I don't want to change rear diff. if I don't have to. I have the steering rack cleaned and waiting to go in. Once I get a tranny lined out we can set a date to meet and turn some wrench's! -
Will do, what color is it?
