weber adapter plate, ea82?
Also, I read that the taller weber air filter won't fit on a stock GL. I'm planning on doing a lift this winter or coming spring. Will the shorter filter (99217.331) fit under my hood and are there any performance decreases with this filter over the taller one (99217.332S)? Just one of those "plan ahead" moments.

weber adapter plate, ea82?
Man, I miss living in th NW. CO has a plethora of 4x4 roads/trails, but down here in the 4 corners you're hard pressed to find any specialty items. Thank you guys for the help. I'll look into your suggestions.

weber adapter plate, ea82?
Does anybody know where I can pick up an adapter plate to mate a weber DGEV carburetor to a 1987 ea82? I've found one or two online for around $50-$90. Are these my only options? I got a deal on a carb and now I'm gathering parts. Thanks, Sesh

Lessons Learned: What to Take on High Country Trips
Nice. I had a stainless flask of whiskey with me on a 4x4 trip that took me over 13000 ft in CO. It expanded and the seams burst. So much for my "disinfectant." Whoops... old thread.

Anybody have a used up 4wd brake drum?
I'm going to drill out some 6 hole steelies and need a template to drill through. Does anyone have a brake drum that is taking up space in their garage they'd like to get rid of for free? Hopefully near Durango, CO... Thanks, Sesh

1988 GL rear locking up
I just bought an '87 GL. The front tires have about 75% tread left and the rears are around 25%. Even on loose terrain, I have to drive in reverse about 40 feet while keeping slight pressure on the 4wd lever to get it back into 2wd. One thing this system needs to work smoothly is 4 tires with the exact same wear (as talked about above). Oh, also, I bought one of those $104 radiators with plastic tanks from Auto Zone. Threw it in with a new thermostat and... bingo. Temp sits right at 190F and doesn't budge. It's plastic, but works great for me (it's a $600 car).

STI-WOLF is getting Lifted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice job. And looks like a clean job on those drilled out rims.

15" spare for all 4 wheels...
I just did a rough measurement at about 9.5cm

15" spare for all 4 wheels...
Who can give us the measurement of the proper center hole size to fit an EA81 and EA82? That way when looking for rims we know if we have the correct chevy rim or not. I know that the imports will mostly work. Thanks!

aftermarket Gauge Q's
That looks really nice. I will look into getting that. Thank you for the very helpful information/experience. I have a triple gauge setup that is mounted in the radio DIN. Hopefully the other half will have more than a pocket, someday. Thanks again.

aftermarket Gauge Q's
Right on. I'll probably make a fitting or modify one. I miss PDX. It was a great city to live in... but those were VW days.

aftermarket Gauge Q's
Thanks. All of that makes sense. Now I see the 1/8" plug, after you mention it. I tried removing it but the little sucker is seized and the 5mm allen hole is slightly stripped out. I might have to drill it and helli-coil it. Since it's facing down, it shouldn't get filings into the pump if I'm careful. Maybe it will even come out with a reversed bit before I even go all the way through. That would be rad. For the temp adapter, I have to find a Male M16x1.5 to Female M16x1.5 fitting and modify it to seat the cap. sensor nicely. The only place around here with a selection of metric pressure fittings is CAT. We'll see... Either that or find one that adapts to the adapters that came with the unit (like what was said above), but that is an extra piece in there and I'd like to do things a little more cleanly. We'll see... Thanks again.

aftermarket Gauge Q's
What kind of engine are you putting this on? Not to hijack the thread, but hopefully my info will help. I'm in the process of installing a mechanical oil pressure gauge and a capillary style temp gauge. I have an EA82, carbed. I'm having issues on the Temp sensor because it is too long to let the threads even engage. It bottoms out on the inside of the coolant passageway in the engine. In the process of looking for a fitting to bump it out a ways, I figured out that the thread size is M16 x 1.5 for the Temp sensor. Now to find the correct fitting... Damn USA and metric availability I second the question about the oil sender. What is the thread size for that one? It seems to be bigger than the Temp sensor. Thanks

Low Oil Pressure EA82
OK, I should say thanks to the other oil pressure threads. After reading the related threads I think I'll get one of those little after market gauge clusters and throw it in with a new sender. That sounds a little bit more reliable than the stock gauge. Maybe I'll get one with temp, too.

Low Oil Pressure EA82
I forgot to mention: it has about 140000 miles on the odometer.

Low Oil Pressure EA82
Thanks. I wasn't really worried about running it at those pressures, but this is my first EA82 and I'm not really sure what to expect as far as the idiosyncrasies. What is "normal" oil pressure on this engine?

Low Oil Pressure EA82
Yesterday I pulled the trigger on my latest 4x4 project. It's an '89 GL with a carb & dual range 5 spd. I've only owned it for a day and already love it. More explanation on that to come... As I was driving it home I noticed that after it warmed up, the oil pressure gauge was reading a lower than normal pressure. At idle it sits at maybe 10 psi and at 4000 rpm it slowly moves up to just under 45 psi. The engine doesn't burn any oil and there are no ticky valves. Any thoughts? I'm thinking any of these things: -sending unit -pump -crankshaft bearings? Thanks in advance. This forum is invaluable.
