Rather than actually look at it and figure it out on my own, Im going to be lazy and just ask. Whats the story with the pre '00 Legacy hood scoops/intakes? Show or function?

My Prelude rusted out in all four wheels wells. Had 3 Subarus now and never encountered that problem. And actually I will never buy a car without AWD. Its great year round. And I couldnt help but notice that we all live in PA.

Yeah I know its crazy. I had never heard of an engine mounting screw breaking and dropping into the engine either. And I certainly never did anything to the engine that would cause that. It was always Subaru serviced anyway. As for the temp, well the driver is a young one and prolly didnt realize that his the guage abnormality.

So I got rid of my '96 2.5L because I was nervous about engine problems, being that it was the first year of production. Needless to say I never ever had a problem with car and I sold it at 75,000. However my dad decided it would be a good idea to sell it to his boss....hmmm. A month ago a mounting screw fell throguh the engine causing $1500 worth of damage. Today I was informed that the water pump failed, temperature spiked and melted the timing belt. $1600. Now this isn't like the Subaru I know at all. How much more is to be expected? My dad suggested they trade the car in for a new one, but the like it too much.

See now I like it ALOT. Hmmm. College or a Legacy Spec. B? Its prolly better if we dont answer that.

Why? You would have a perfectly good Legacy to live in.

Sounds like a clutch to me. Does he feel like he's taching higher than he would be normally, yet feeling a loss of power? Cause then its definately a clutch.

True, the high beams arent neccessary. However, the car cant pass inspection (at least in PA) without having the high beams.

Anybody added heated seats to their Subaru? I feel like mine is the only '99 Limited lacking heated front seats and the power driver seat.

Has anyone converted their headlights to HIDs? Id look to, but I cant figure out how to get past the fact that I dont have seperate high beams. Kinda sucks.

Thats a bummer, I wanted the hp.

I can honestly say that I have no clue what kind of filter to buy now.

Im lookin for a high performance air filter. So which one's the best? HP increase? MPG increase?

What do you floor it everywhere? I get 22 mpg in my '99 2.5.

My '96 GT used alot of oil too. No problems though.

6-8 inches here tonight and tommorow. Gonna take on my friends Legend in some friendly (and well spaced) donut competition. But no question who's superior here.

Yeah, I had one. Hence the reason for me buying a newer one.

Thats odd. Ive been seein them since they came out. They come with the short throw shifter standard I believe.

Thank you Subaru for bringing back the stick. I noticed that Subaru only offers automatic transmission on Limited WRX's now. I think its great in a country that is becoming dominated by autos to mass produce cars with manual transmission. Hopefully it will catch on. After walking around my local dealer I noticed that 1) they had a ton of Legacys 2) most were stick. That is fantastic.

Yes, I agree. After driving from State College to Philadelphia in the rain Ive decided to go out tommorow and get tires first thing. Too bad my fan belt is squeaking now. :-\

My tires are developing cracks in the sidewalls. My front left is the worst. Now last time that this happened, I couldnt legally leave the tire place with out putting on my spare. So Im apprehensive about going some place and asking about them. The cracks arent severe, but the treads are also worn down too. I would say that theres another 2000 miles left on the tires but with the cracks Im afraid. I dont know how old the tires are. Any thoughts?

Well I think Subaru has to the hybrid technology to gain. We know that Subaru is producing someting Hybrid, just not what, when, or how effiecient it will be. Then theres Toyota, that is producing efficient cars with alotta hp. Even Nissan wants a piece of that. Correct me if Im wrong, but I believe that GM was so far behind that they wanted to buy the technology too.
