  1. Thanks. Its my parents garage, but yes I am lucky that I could use it, especially it was raining off and on.
  2. The 2.5L. Only 8% of them were problematic though. Or maybe it was less than that. Had 3 2.5L engines so far and no gasket problems. Knock on wood.
  3. Ive never had the 2.2 but my understanding is that its a tank! Look for leaking water pump. And if you look at a '99 Legacy, well some of their speedometer stop working. Its ok, I already sent Subaru 2 complaint letters about that one. Ridiculous.
  4. New bumper and JDM foglights. Very difficult to install for those who are interested. But is doable. Bumper is easy.
  5. Hardshifting. What year? My '96 shifted hard for performance reasons. However, Subaru softened it up in '98 I guess it was. My solution was to buy a 5 speed '99 Limited
  6. Does it only pop out? Or do you have a powerloss as well sometimes? Or does the clutch pedal stick sometimes? Any weird behavior other than the pop is what Im asking.
  7. 2.5GT with the 16 inch rims? I just got Goodyears (from a Goodyear Dealer for $110 a piece. BJs wanted $140. It is a brand new design and they hug the road so good compared to the Continentals I had before. They are performance all weathers, not just strictly performance.
  8. Exciting news for those who dont feel mpg gains are credible. Crude oil prices have dropped almost $4, dipping below $70 a barrel. Somewhat exciting I guess.
  9. Excuse me for not having a wind tunnel. I did explain what I did, however I can elaborate further. For arguments sake we will negate my trip to South Carolina since temperature, acceleration, etc. differs. So I made 4 trips to and from College. Its 180 miles one way. So multiply that by 2 = 360 X 4 = 1440 miles. I made one in early January, one in early March, one in mid April and the last one was May 5th. Obviously there were some temperature variations. Also the last trip, I had the most weight. I filled up before each trip. Leaving school, I always use the BP, since they claim they are the cleanest. Going back to school I always use the same Hess because they are generally cents cheaper than everone else. I cruise from 76 - 80 mph and its a straight shot on the turnpike. No deviations required. Like I said I averaged 32 mpg each trip. The last trip, I had more weight and only got about 31.2 Id say. I dont remember the exact number. And yes, the weather was different each trip. Sometimes it was cold or snowing or warm and sunny. One night was very windy. Criticize away. Oh, how I got my numbers? I used the calculator on my cell phone.
  10. Who said anything about my parents paying for my education? Versus you saying that you are sending your son. I can tell that I have intimidated you. Otherwise you wouldnt have tried so hard to put me down by saying I will be nothing in this world without my parents. Ouch newbie. I finished with a 3.7. I can spell fine thanks, otherwise I wouldnt have gotten anywhere.
  11. Thats a good point too. China also bought 5 years of concrete from America. Still the less oil we use, the longer we can have our internal combustion engines.
  12. Engineers is actually a sore subject for me. There is a club on facebook "for resentful engineers". How can you be resentful? You chose the major! Its where they go and "vent" about the work they have to do. But you know what? We are in college. Everyone does work. And for someone like me in the liberal arts, well we dont get curves. There are some who like to pretend they know it all. Some do. Alot dont. SOme of them become business majors....they I get into their heads.hehehehe. I dont have a poodle.

  14. Thanks. Its because my friend with the Acura got into several threads (on the Legend forum) about his '95 Legend beating my Legacy in a race. So Im used to standing up for myself...some of those people are crazy. Anyway, if I couldnt back my results up, then whats the point?
  15. You are absolutely right, I havent saved any money yet. However, to me its more about using less oil. Not to get on a politcal discussion but Im one to believe that we cant rely on the middleast for oil forever. BUt then with these gas prices who knows, Ill prolly end up saving some in the end.
  16. Yes this was very heated and for no reason. I saved money. You can choose to do the same or not. Results will vary based on transmission, body style, etc. Hell, we got into a debate about a hood scoop when many models of the Legacy dont even have one. SO feel free to mix at match and post if you improved. And yes PSU is the most expensive public university in the country...and it angers me everyday. Greedy greedy people.
  17. And whats wrong with soot? What do you want me to call it? Debris? Gunk? Crap? Scuzz?
  18. You prolly couldnt afford it. Why would I doubt that fuel filters wont do their job? Because of fuel system clean outs. If they did perform flawlessly like ya'll proclaimed earlier (NOT ME) then there would be no need for fuel injector cleaner, etc. And Im majoring in psychology. So no, I am not an engineer. However my two suitemates are. Off topic but we have a car oriented set up next year. BMW, Acura, Nissan, and me with the RU. Should be nice.
  19. No need for cleaning, I strongly disagree. Read your Haynes Manual. 100k? Tell that to my '96 :-\ Still faired better than my prelude
  20. Hang on let me get this straight. Nipper you are agreeing with Scorch on all that he said. Including that the fuel filter stop debris from entering your system, thus it does its job. So then all filters are perfect? 1. Why does the fuel system ever need to be cleaned then? How would soot accumulate if the filter is perfect. 2. Whats wrong with my K & N. You agreed that all filters are impenatrable. Over LGT, we regard the K & N with great esteem.
  21. Doesnt drip onto the coil pack. Once again, it rolls over the airbox. Believe me it hasnt been a problem. Through pouring rain yesterday (and hail. NOOOO) and the winters of central PA. Though not everyone has one. My '96 didnt. And no I havent done any Mod to the intake. Considering a short ram.
  22. You dont have to believe me if you dont want. My tips were a mere suggestion to help you, not me, Im already gettin the results. My increase is not a coincidence.
