  1. My old Legacy, which was a 2.5, used alot of oil too. No leaks or problems, just gotta make sure you dont let that chamber go dry.
  2. Yeah $1100 later a new clutch, fly wheel and everything else that goes with it. However it is nice to have a car that moves but this clutch is way more delicate than I ever driven. Still better than a Toyota's though.
  3. Clutch eh. Kinda blows, Ive only had the car for a few months. However I wouldnt give up the stick. I had an auto Legacy before and its fuel economy was way less than my Legacy now.
  4. Bad news. I was driving home today, my RPMs went way up, power output went way down. I changed gears a couple times but pulled over once I couldnt get the car above 25 MPH. Popped the hood and released a plume of gray smoke and one fowl smell of burning, of which I am almost positive was rubber. Im slightly pissed.
  5. Yeah, the G class. If I had $80,000 to buy a Mercedes with, it wouldnt be one as ugly as that, even if every rap artist has one (which they do).
  6. Selling it yourself is the best move anyway. Dealer only wanted to give me $4000 for my Legacy GT, sold it for $7000.
  7. Whoa! Things could be way worse. Subaru could have produced something as repugnant as the Honda Element. I see people driving those boxes down the street and Im just like, I hope you think youre cool.
  8. Actually I wondered about that myself and have been waiting for a smell but got nothing.
  9. My understanding was that if you have a 5 speed and floor in first, the AWD cant anticipate peel out versus an Automatic transmission that can. At least this is how my Impreza works. However My Legacy just revs up real high, but delivers a low amount of power until a balance is achieved. Any thoughts on whats up with that?
  10. Youre gonna love that Legacy. Ive been traveling alone alot lately and I was today as a matter of fact. Though not until today did I go, man I really like my Legacy (keeping in mind that this is my 2nd) and cant imagine bein without her...which is good since I dont have the money for a new car anyway.
  11. I had heard of this happening before to one of my co-workers, minus the part about the complete guage failure, and my understanding was that the coil pack needed replacing. However I dont see how you performing a physical action would relate to the pack. Just something to ponder.
  12. God, I hope they spare the Legacy from the new grille. Doesnt look likely though. And I couldnt agree more about Subaru messing up the first couple years. My 99 Legacy GT looks way sportier than my 96 GT. Same with 04 Impreza over the 02.
  13. Ok. So I've narrowed it down to two bulbs. Both yellow, both draw 55 watts. One has an output of 70 watts the other 100 watts. My old Legacy handled the 100 watt bulbs fine, however that was with a different housing. Can the multi-reflector housing handle the 100 watts without melting, as well as the wiring of course?
  14. I like em and I got one already and dont feel like buying two. Isn't is best to have yellow fog lights anyway?
  15. Anyone have any thoughts on where I can get cool blue H3 Sylvania light bulbs?
  16. My new Legacy needs a little paint work. The whole bumper needs to be repainted as well as the side bumpers. One half dollar sized spot on the side panel. Any paint experts out there who could give me a ball park figure? Did I mention that its bright red?
  17. I am buying a 1999 Legacy GT Limited and wont be seeing it until Sunday. I wanted to know a couple things. 1. It has leather and I was curious if all of the Limiteds had heated seats as well. 2. When looking at pictures on autotrader I noticed most had pretty nice looking Subaru CD changers. Anyone know how many watts they have or any other information about their performance before I go through the hassle of removing my current head unit and putting the old one back in? Thanks
  18. I feel your pain. Penn State is 3.5 hours from here. However if youre looking for a fuel efficient car, my sister drives a Corolla and gets 31 mpg. However the 1.8L engine lacks punch.
  19. If we did that we'd lose about 80 hp which would suck. However Subaru promises hope with their hybrid development scheduled tenatively in 2007...i think. It would be nice if there was a Legacy like the accord hybrid. No 50 MPG with that Accord, but it would save money, lower emissions somewhat, and reduce the amount of petroleum consumed. And my 2.5L gets 29 mpg with an averge speed of 73 MPH. It was a very pleasant surprise for me. Question. Where is the fuel filter because Ive been lookin all over for it under the hood. Guess I must have over looked it.
  20. No theyre not turbo. Whats so special about them? Well I like the bodystyle and interior alot! The 97 - 99s offer the 2.5L engine with 5 speed transmission. 1996 was the first year but only automatics were produced. I also cant afford anything newer.
  21. Yea I tried them before but I wasted half an our getting there to find that they no longer had the Legacy they advertised. Ebay though...that is a good idear
