  1. Fuel system cleanout might be good. Found out my new Leg never had one and it has 79000 on it. or K & N air filter. Adds a few horses, never needs replacing, imrpoves mpg slightly. $40
  2. In my letter I made the point that parts (clutches) do wear out and i get that but i shouldnt be spending so much money on additional repairs. Especially ones that affect my safety. Which both my clutch and speedo did. Since I thought that the clutch repair was done by incompotent people I changed dealers to do the speedo. No difference apparently.
  3. Got a letter back from Subaru. Told me that my car is out of warranty and that they could care less if I remain a customer. Fine. Ill got buy a Honda then, see how they like it then! ......because I havent put almost $2000 in repairs for this car in the past 8 months.
  4. I like toys. Anyone replace their normal climate control with a digital in the 99 or lower Legacy? I want to, but I cant find one. Bah!
  5. Yeah I got the same thing which has been fixed and still doesnt work. SOA is gettin a nasty letter but this except I have to go buy a 2 cent stamp. What a world.
  6. Clutch work was done at Roberts in Downingtown Speedo at Concordeville in West Chester.
  7. Ok so it took the dealer three attempts to fix my clutch and $1400. I sat by quietly. Now my speed sensor is dead, 4 days after being replaced and I am 4 hours from the dealer that repaired it. So now I am stuck until my spring break with no speedo. I have had it. Subaru of America will be hearing about this. I expected better, this being my 3rd Subaru. I really am just plain Pissed Off.
  8. Why bother invading foreign countries for the oil when we have a president who is completely willing to plunder the Alaskan tundra for it? I mean that would be the smart way to end our foreign dependence. Its only collateral damage. No biggie.
  9. Diesel is not a practical fuel. Many gas stations dont offer it. So why would Subaru Convert their whole line to a diesel set up? And their people out there who turn their nose up entirely to the thought of buying a diesel. It would be a bold move for Subaru. In time Hybrid costs will come down. The government does offer a tax credit for buying a hybrid vehicle. And yes, our very own Subaru has a battery with a lifespan of 10-15 years. Why do you think Toyota was so interested in purchasing GMs 12 percent in Subaru?
  10. I got nothing against the Diesel. Id like to see one. However they are not practical enough to convert the whole Subaru lineup too. Besides, we have no choice but to go Hybrid. We cant quit oil cold turkey. Its gotta last.
  11. Well according to the Subaru website, a hybrid model is nearing completion. And just to report, my '99 2.5L get 30mpg on the highway. So did my '96. Just got a K & N air filter. Curious as to if it will change.
  12. Yeah Im waitin on the sensor to come in. Just thought it was funny for CEL to come on when I left the dealer and my tach to limit me. Not that I need to drive the car anyway right now, just kinda sucks.
  13. Is the speed sensor related to the tachometer? My dealer ordered a new sensor for me but didnt put the old one back in. The tach now stops me at 4200.
  14. The AWD circuit was right behind the air filter box in my '96 GT. However I cant find it in my '99. Any thoughts?
  15. Looking for some information on the clutch in my '99 Legacy. At 76,000 it wore out leaving me stranded in the middle of the night. ~ $1100. 2 weeks later the new clutch nearly killed me because the pedal wouldnt spring back into position. Replaced slave cylinder ~ $180. Squealing. Greased throwout bearing. Helped but not much. Now some boot connected to the clutch (ill post the name when I remember it, I had never heard of it before) needs to be replaced. ~ 41. Anyone else go through this? How much more can go wrong? Im mad, this isnt like any Subaru Ive ever had.
  16. You know I was surprised to see that the Taurus' replacement, the Fusion, is actually available in a 5-speed. Unheard of in the Ford world. There arent even that many manual Mustangs.
  17. My former dealer wanted $170 to replace the bulb. Took it to a local Subaru specialist who did it for $40. I was content.
  18. Which is what I figured. Thanks for the breakdown. So tell me that there's an easy way to make my hood scoop functioning.
  19. Im bummed for sure. I was showing my friend the Spec. B. the other day and he commented as to why it didnt come in a 6-speed if it was so exclusive. Good point. However I must laud Subaru for producing so many more 5-speed Legacys and now the WRX (which is a little more challenging to find a new auto now, compared to before [which is good]). I got rid of my '96 Legacy so I could have the stick because it was offered on the new engine that year.
