pics:What the heck is this thing????
rtcaravan replied to mykingcrab's topic in Non-Soob Off Roading
ya there cool but i've taken my jeep places they couldn't even fit though. JEEP ON!!! -
plans are not to bad. i wouldn't mount it to the bumper. run a brace at the end of the frame rails (2x4 box side to side) above your shackles. this will strenthin the frame and give you a great place to weld your roll bar. if your going to put the bed sides on make it narrower so they fit like factory. are you building it for off-road use? if your counting on your roll bar to save the body if rolled over i would add more bracing. keep it as safe as possible.

can't beat a jeep !!!!

yes flush it out good and add the dye. the dye works very well, we used it in the the gm dealership alot. i've seen the dexcool completly clog a cooling system. you should be able to get the dye kit at any parts store.

thank you. it's not my jeep but it's fun in a diffrent way. when i got my parts i got everything, struts, trailing arms,(witch i boxed in for extra strenth)and mounts. i can post a pic if any one wants to see them boxed in.

Ea81 springs in outback struts= lift
rtcaravan replied to thermalsurfing1's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
if you got 3" out of the outback struts with the ea81 springs aren't the struts topped out when on the car? you wouldn't have any rebound, every time you hit a bump the tires would come off the ground because you wouldn't have the extra travel to absorb the bumps.:-\ -
Ea81 springs in outback struts= lift
rtcaravan replied to thermalsurfing1's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
i wish i know this sooner! -
ya $500 i payed for it. had to put a trans in it. we had a guy come in the shop a few months ago and wanted his old legacy wheels on his outback. ya they didn't fit.
-
its a 91 legacy with outback strut lift with trailing arm brackets also . it has 14" wheels on now. i found 27" tires in 14" and 15" both 9.50's are they going to be to wide with stock wheels? steel or alum. thought about chrysler wheels (same bolt pattern) but they have the wrong back spacing, they would hit the struts. looked at harry's u pull it and didn't have a complete set of 15" wheels off any subaru but they had about 15 alum. 5 spoke legacy wheels i do like though.

what tire size is every one running with the outback lift? wife wants bigger tires. 27x9.50x14 or would the 28x8.5x14 would be better?? :-\

So I am an idiot and I hate Volvos...
rtcaravan replied to jessicaCB650's topic in Non Soob Cars and Bikes Discussion
volvos are good cars my friend has 2 850's he put a lot of work into then but they are very nice cars. as for your oil thats bs. don't matter if you drive highway or in town(stop and go) your oil shouldn't sludge like your saying. the person before you might not have taken care of the oil changes as often as they should have. keep it changed about 3000 miles. change the filter also. use a good oil like mobil it will help clean your motor. the gas smell in your oil could be from the bad sensors dumping to much fuel. hope this helps you. -
no not you gloyale coming over strong. could have said hay i think you made a mistake. i thought we were all here to help each other. my wife loves the outback lift and wants to go bigger now. looking for bigger tires now. don't know if staying with 14" or going to 15". she wants mud tires don't think at's aren't agressive enough.

Carlise May 15-17th the East Coast Meet
rtcaravan replied to moosens's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
i might come on down to meet everyone but i won't be showing but i'll bring the subbie down. the cruise sounds cool. stoltzfus's ham and cheese sandwichs are sounding good right now. -
the ones on mine are longer.

yes if you use the outback struts get the trailing arms also. this will move your rear axle back to the center of the wheel well. i've seen everybody not replacing the trailing arm brackets and it moves the wheel ahead and when running bigger tires it interfears with the ground effects. the outback trailing arm brackets are longger and should be replaced also. just to look good. i'm swapping all my stuff this week, struts AND control arms. will post pix when done.

i finally got my 3.90 rear installed. trans and rear both work great. also got rid of stock dual tip muffler and put on outback muffler. sounds and looks good. now i need to put my outback struts on and bigger tires.

hardbodies kich rump roast!!! i had an 88 for 13 years, 3" lift, 33" tires, calmini steering upgrade, brushguard, prerunner roll bar. that truck took me anywhere i wanted to go. i still have the roll bar if any one wants to buy it. needs recromed or painted. now i have a lifted mid size wagoneer. lifting wifes legacy wagon soon too.

your front axle clicking is prob a broken or cracked cage in the cv joint may cause a prob but not likely. my guess would be the tires because not all tire companys make tires the same size even though the tire size is the same. the outside dia. will most likelly be diff. witch will make your rev. per mile diff. and could be doing what your saying. hope thats some help.
